I don't mean this to sound awful or insulting. Why did you marry this man?? Marriage is teamwork!! He only sounds bothered about himself and to hell with you and the children. If my husband disrespected me in that way i would rather be a struggling lone parent. You don't sound happy at all with the situation or him. You need to have one hell of a talk with him and lay your feelings on the line.
Let us all know how you get on
Big huggles and snuggles to you

i really feel for you mrs.T. why do you have to pay for stuff for the kids? are they not half his?
no suggestions i'm afraid just lots of hugs!Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0 -
I'd be tempted to divorce the git - you would be entitled to half of all his assets AND he would have to pay maintenance for the 3 kids!!
Seriously, I just could not live in that situation and I feel for you. He should be at least buying the kids clothes etc. What exactly is he saving for? Its all well and good being money wise, but I don't see the point in being the richest person in the graveyuard - you can't take it with you.0 -
Mrs T.........
I am so sorry about whats happening. *special hugs and cuddles*
When I started this thread it was lighthearted and didn't expect anyone to have an extreme situation like yourself.
I really do think you should have a talk with him, you sound so unhappy and it won't get any better unless you do.
You're supposed to be "living" not existing and this is how it seems you're doing at the moment.
Don't allow him to "mock" you...you're doing brilliantly managing all those payments out of the money you earn. Many people wouldn't be able to manage so well done to you..you should be congratulated not be put down.
You'd hardly be "kept" if you weren't working as you'd be a *mother* which is bloomin hard work in itself.
You don't say how old your children are...but they'll pick up on it before long if they haven't already and begin to resent him too.
What does he intend to do with this money saved?
Would he not just take on at least one of the other payments that you pay (i.e. the food) . I remember the programmes that Lorne Spicer was on in the mornings..I think it was called moneyspenders or something. Anyway she reversed the roles of this man and woman who were in a similar situation as yourself and your oh...the man genuinely didn't realise how much it cost to keep the family. The school trips, food, dinner money, new shoes etc. etc. At the end of the programme he said he'd take more of a responsibility and he didn't realise how she had coped for such a long time (and I really hope he did).
Good luck and please pop back on and let us know how you get on0 -
Thanks for the support and sorry if I've hijacked the thread.0

Well...OH earns the majority of the money, I earn a little, not that much, but it helps. It all goes into the one account, which I manage.
The reason I manage it is because he used to do it all when we first moved in together, but he was rubbish at it, (hence the debt in my sig!) and used to get really stressed out, so I took over.
However, I try and make it stretch out for the whole month, whereas he just sees a lump sum in the bank and thinks we have plenty, without taking bills into consideration:rolleyes:
Money left over, I try and save up...but he has other ideas...so far this week, he has suggested buying a quad bike for our eldest, a petrol lawnmower, and a Sat Nav system.
Jeez!!
