  • Hello everyone :hello:

Just wondered if I can join in? I started SW a couple of years ago and did well getting to my target weight but then stopped attending the meetings due to horrible family stuff taking up my time & emotional strength :o.

I did however keep the weight off until I fell pregnant last year where everything seemed to go to pot.

My son is now 8 weeks old and I feel its time to start getting back to my pre pregnancy weight and be a yummy mummy instead of a slummy mummy!

Anyways I would like to lose 14lb to get back to pre pregnancy weight. I have all the books for SW and I am going to cancel one of my magazine subscriptions and subscribe to SW magazine instead.

This for me is more about eating healthier and being kinder to my body rather than the weight loss IYSWIM.

I weighed myself last Thurs so I am due a weigh in tomorrow night, I will be digging the books out ready for the the week from Friday.

looking forward to getting to know you all & going back through the many pages of this thread for advice & tips!!

2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.

Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
    Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(
  • I've decided not to buy the new pack because I'll just use my old one anyway as all my weights are recorded in it.

As far as the plan changing, I'm going to keep an eye on things that now have syns (although to my dying day I will eat Muller light as syn free!!) and eat accordingly but I'm not too worried about the 1/3 free thingie. If my weight loss stumbles then I'll pay more attention to it but right now I'm just aiming at eating healthily in general rather than specifics.

It was optional, but not now - in the new books it is a requirement.

I'm only new at this but I thought that as long as you have a third of the meal as superfree then that's okay, so for instance if you have curry then there is usually onion, tomato and some other veg in it, plus if you have a couple of pieces of fruit afterwards then that is your third for the meal. I have just had chicken thighs with savoury rice for my tea, but I added some spring onion and shredded spring greens to the rice to bulk it out and had some fresh pineapple and a kiwi fruit afterwards so I consider that I have had a third of that meal as sf. One thing I am not sure about though - if you are hungry between meals and have - say - a mug shot or a couple of slices of meat, is that free on EE or can you only have fruit or veg between meals?

I also save my heB for my supper - is that allowed?

Finally - on the syns online mullerlights are still free (except the cheesecake ones or the layers) - who said they are now syns? Also what things which are currently free also have syns? - PLEASE don't say the savoury rice as I love it!

RS - yes you're right - ingredients do count but it's not usually enough onion etc to make 1/3! You can have gree/red snacks between meals if you want them - but with the 1/3 veg/fruit you shouldn't need to as these are the filling bits!

Heb for supper is allowed, yes.

Muller are still free. The new book says fat free fruit yoghurts are 0.5syns per 100g - but it said that in the old book and people were panicking. All yoghurts that were free still are.

Phew! thanks Catt. I tend to add loads of tomatoes and onions to my curry and don't put all that much meat in, but I get what you mean. I'll just have to keep eating the fruit (tends to make you "go" alot though IYKWIM!)

I'm considering going along to slimming world when my new contract kicks in next week. I'm a size 14 and want to slim down to an 8 - 10 (size before they put me on steroids) for my holiday. Thing is I suffer from blackouts, my doctor said it's fine for me to diet but I don't like the idea of being charged for a class if i can't make it due to being unconcious! Is there a way around this?

You just have to let your consultant know asap. I guess if you pass out on the way to class then there's not much you can do about that but talk to her and she might be considerate.

    Diasater day today for me!

Got snowed in so had to walk half an hour in the snow to the train station. Didnt fancy carrying my lunch I had made while stumbling about in 8 inches of snow so left it at home. BAD MOVE! Ended up having a chicken and cheese melt baguette for lunch. However, figured this would be cancelled out by walking down and then up the mountain I live on to get to the train station (or thats what I have been convincing myself!)

Got home, no heating, its dead! No one will come out tonight due to weather, just waiting on someone ringing me back about coming tomorrow. So cold here I dashed from under my duvet and grabbed 2 peices of toast for tea!

Supposed to have WI tonight too but was cancelled due to weather. Not weighed for 3 weeks now due to Xmas etc, so have no idea where I am.

Now I have all that off my chest I feel a lot better lol
