Another comment that I feel i've just got to say. If you're in a car with children, you're travelling on a road in poor visibility (night) and a fuel light comes on despite the gauge showing half full then you KNOW there is a fault, you don't know if that is a serious fault or a minor fault but you KNOW there is a fault.
You are being told by a light on your car that you are about to run out of petrol but you cannot be sure how accurate either that or the fuel gauge is. The only thing you know is that there are no petrol stations open anywhere near you.
Why the hell would you continue with your journey and play chicken knowing that the car could cut out at any moment? Any right minded person who was worried for the safety of their children, especially children who can't get out of the vehicle quickly would find a safe place to stop and pull over.
Pure stupidity to continue with the journey if you suspect their to be a fuel problem0 -

Would you? You'd look light a right eejit if your car still has enough petrol to go and there's a petrol station around the next corner.0 -
The fuel gauge was faulty, bbear has been told this by the company. the company also admitted to knowing this was a known problem when cars were converted for wheelchairs, but chose not to tell them when the car was hired.
soooo.....can someone please explain why 90% of the people replying are getting such a mard on? or is it just a case of too much time on ur hands?
the excepted liability.
why is it bbears fault that the car was faulty?0 -

I take it you've run out of Jeremy Kyle re-runs to watch? and I'm doubting by the 'keyboard warrior stance you've taken' your even old enough to have a driving license?
And (can't believe I'm actually spending the time to respond...) how about frightened of having a tired lorry or car driver slamming into the back of our poorly lit car? That a good enough reason...?;)
Congratulations for posting the stupidest reply yet though!
Old enough? I'm 37 love, and have more experience of driving than you ever will. I'm able to post during the day because I'm self-employed, and choose when I want to work.
If the car broke down and was later hit by another vehicle, that accident wouldn't be the hire company's fault now, would it? It'd be the fault of the other driver.
Don't let me stop your silly exaggerated little rant though.0 -

i work as a patrol , and trust me it only takes one idiot on his phone , boy racer showing off etc etc and the repercussions don't bear thinking about .
i think you need to give your head a wobble pew pew pew lasers !
and perhaps think about getting some driver training ? or tell you what , you can come out with me for a night and see just what it is like to break down on as dark road with Lorry's hurtling past you as your trying to work !!!
also do try and give people with disabilities a bit of a brake , some of them are not as mobile as you are .
There is no such thing as a dangerous road, only dangerous drivers, and they still aren't the responsibility of the hire company.
And please don't try to turn this into some kind of disability rant, because it isn't.0 -
think everyone is missing the point here. the fuel gauge was faulty. that makes them a bad driver HOW?
dont turn this into a good driver/ bad driver debate over a bit of petrol!0 -
We haven't even mentioned about having a disabled Passenger in this at atall, only said we had a motability car and that i was scary having to sit in a vehicle in the middle of the night with 3 small children.
Get your facts right before you start slating people!!
We have had our apology from the company, we know we are telling the truth
So thats the end of the matter!
I will say it one more time though for the stupid people
IT WAS A FAULTY GAUGE!!!!
Cheers Mooley for also being one of the few that understand our situation0 -

<snip the rest>...it was so scary being stuck there with 3 small children in the car one of which is disabled and in a wheelchair!
Can I get anything other than an apology?0
