I really haven't been keeping track so far this month, but know I haven't spent a lot. It's a bit more difficult this month as we went out for lunch at work last week for someones birthday, it's also my dad's birthday on Sunday, so i'm taking him and my stepmum out for dinner on Saturday. Then i'm going to France the following weekend so no idea what i'll be spending/eating there! We've also arranged a work meal at the end of the month

I'll try and dig out my receipts and see what i've actually spent so far :o

PS. Is there any particular reason people use 'Mr T' 'Mr A' etc etc, or is just an abbreviation, I've not come across it on any other part of the forum so just wondering!

I think it's just a quirky abbreviation unique to the GC and the OS boards. And I suppose in a way less advertising for them since if you searched google for 'Asda' or whatever it wouldn't return this thread in the results since no-one is spelling it out. But errr, it will now since I've written it out. Sorry my reasoning is bonkers :rotfl:

Maybe someone else can enlighten us if there really is a reason behind the code?
  • Haven't logged on for a while so quick update...Spent £27.82 at morrisons last thurs and £13.50 yeasterday. Total for the month £124.13 eek:eek:

This leaves me £34.06 for the rest of the month, although I do have lots in for dinners, fairly full freezer etc so hopefully will come in on target
    Sept GC lost track/£160 :(

    Oct GC /£160
  • Have been away from the forum for a few days......didnt go to Lidl for my weekly shop as we were away for the weekend so went to morrisons and spent more but it was more convenient!!

Just updated my sig after inputting my receipts and not doing as bad as I thought so back on with the meal planning which has been a bit reactive this week!!

The other thing that DH noticed since we/I started meal planning better and shopping only for what we need is the bin is less than half full! so I am really pleased with that!

I thinks it is to encourage peeps to go back but I think they're also doing it as half the people will chuck the voucher or loose it before their next shop then have to buy full price again. How long will the vouchers be valid for? Can't say I'm keen on the idea really...
I have so many bits of paper in my purse now, without even MORE to look at  I haven't watched the programme all the way through, but from comments on here my initial reaction was the same about losing the receipt etc. I know me muvva very often says she doesn't want or need the extra bits OF FRESH GOODS as she lives alone, so why don't they just halve the price & put an absolute limit on how many you can buy  Either that or leave it as it is, cuz if mum doesn't want two, more often than not we share the deal.

Dried pasta isn't as bad as it sounds - though spaghetti is the best (fussilli is a bit tricky to nibble at ;) )

I normally end up with a raw strand when doing a spaghetti meal, if DS is in the vicinity he pinches one too, and if I manage to drop any the larger dog tries to get to it before I have chance to bin it!!! Fortunately the dog doesn't get nasty about having food removed, so if I get a hand (or foot) on it before he gets there, then he knows he's lost it and finds a corner to sulk :rotfl:

Thanks for the response. That's fascinating. (Still can't imagine it, though :D )

Yes, that had me going for a bit. I thought there was a shop called Mr T - and I thought it was probably a chain since so many people referred to it. I actually went as far as looking up Mr T in the phone book to see if there was a branch in this area. :o
  • Just a quick update...
I'm doing ok, I think! We need groceries & a meal plan BADLY though... :(
I'm having a girls night in tonight, so that's out the window, but I'm sure that tomorrow night, I'll be able to get a nice meal plan sorted & start eating our way through all the yummy dinners, meat and ICE CREAM in the freezer (that ben & jerrys offer is taking up half my freezer!!!:s lol)

Keep sticking to the plan guys & gals. I know we can all do it! :D
    Trying hard to money save....
