Kittikins: I have no hiding places in the house we are in, whereas ,back home I had a gift cupboard! Plus I love beautiful gift wrapping. All the things were bought in the sales......rarely do full price!0

Well i am fuming :mad::mad::mad:
I have just received an email from my boss - sent to 5 of us in our team - warning us not to do things that only ONE of us is doing. .
VJsmum - I would be furious as well.
On a similar note... I was at today at which were several of our HR directors. I ended speaking to one about the issue I am having with my boss and the fact that my project has been taken away from me. She is going to have a think about it and come back to me with some advice on how on tackle problem. Again the issue has arisen because of a manager has not taken the time to think about the impact of his actions.:(
I am really sad today... I had to take my mum back to the airport after her 3 week holiday here. I wish she lived closer.:(
I think that I might struggle with 5 pleasures today, especially as I have caught another cold.
1) The MD of one of our divisions at work sent his PA to buy me some medicine for my cold as he could tell that I was struggling during our meeting... and he paid for it!
2) Catching up with a colleague from Ireland - she has a new partner who seems to be making her very happy and she seems to be getting her confidence back after a nasty break up last year.
3) Coming home to find I had switched off my iron after all!!
Hmmm.... thats all folks... hope to be happier tomorrow.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Hiya
Mine for today
1. Walking to see the sea. Not sunny but at least it didnt rain.
2. Kitchen clean and beds airing before school run, had to leave early as dd had school trip.
3. Had a good meeting with my assessor. She was really pleased with my work and has given me loads more to do over holidays.
4. Got a few bargains for hubby. He is going away tomorrow in a tent and cant have bbq or any other cooking thing. So he now has loads of brunch bars from £shop and crackers and fruit and other snacky stuff so at least he wont starve and I did notice some things were nearly twice as much as £shop in supermarket so saved some money!!!!
5. Had fakeout night tonight as hubby will be away until Monday (although i know we will have another one on friday as kids will be missing daddy).0 -
Evening all.
Here's the rest of my five for today:
3) I somehow managed to dodge the downpours all day - I got damp a couple of times, but no worse than that.
4) A colleague at work said he had to buy bread on the way home, and I replied that I'd be making a loaf. It probably sounded rather more smug than I intended, but the smell of fresh-baked bread has relieved any guilt I felt.
5) I posted a slightly dubious review of a product on a website and someone got back to me within 4 hours to say it's obviously faulty and they'll replace it. Great customer service! :T
Have a good evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all
VJsmum & Ladyhawk - (((((hugs)))))
CCP - glad to hear mog is feeling better...even if he did decide to tell you at stupid o clock this morning
1) Managing to get another 3 workpacks off my desk
2) Remembering to get some meat out of the freezer last night
3) Free sausage roll at work for someones birthday
4) Applying for another couple of jobs with another company
5) More flirty texts from Mr B
Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
A quickie please caterina - whilst chatting to NZ just now, idled outside and pulled at some lush dandelion leaves amid the strawbs. Surely I can use these as !!!!enlit for salad?
What say you?
Dandelion=Cicoria (in Italian parlance), small tender leaves can be used in moderation in salad as they are quite bitter. However if you have plenty of these leaves you can boil them first, drain and squeeze all the water out (keep the water and drink it lukewarm for an excellent diuretic/blood cleanser effect), then fry in abundant olive oil, garlic and chilli. Voila, Cicoria Ripassata! Buon appetito x
((((((Ladyhawk))))))Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
((Hugs)) to Tealady, anniversaries are a difficult time. And to Ladyhawk.
5 or so from me for today (Weds).
1) Went into town with my mum. Took back the wrong cable I had bought for the laptop so got £14 back.
2) Sat in the cathedral (Hereford) for a while. Mum and I always go our separate ways when shopping, then meet back up for lunch so I had a good ponder in my favourite little side chapel.
3) Took my photo down to R who is going to use it to produce my change of name cards. :T I really don't know what text to have on the back and have to email him with it just now so any advice would be welcome! I know I want my name and the boys' names and our address (just for people whom I haven't contacted for ages). But how to word it...
4) Watched a DVD with the boys and had a cheaty ready meal pasta thing for tea.
5) Just getting organised for court tomorrow. No pleasure there but have had a friendly email from my solicitor so it is as organised as it can be. The ex is supposed to be proving he has a flat but has so far sent us a scrappy photcopy of a tenancy agreement he signed in 2009 - as though we wouldn't notice!
6) One message from a sensible looking man on Soulmates. Although I balked a bit when I saw he is 47 (I am 36). Then I remembered that MrN is in fact 48! :rotfl:And a message from a man that I don't think I will be meeting up with.
7) In bed already and will probably watch Holby City in a minute.
8) Whilst we're mentioning cats, the rain is so torrential that mine has reappeared and is sitting on the sofa! She is still very much a farm cat but gets driven inside if the weather is bad enough.0 -
Hmm well meeting with boss hasn't changed alot tho i can see that he is a bit "caught between a rock and a hard place". Still i have said my piece.
Mine for today
1. Notwithstanding the above actually managed a sensible team meeting even tho rogue member was there.
2. Boss did say that i was "great" - that probably means i'm screwed :rotfl:
3. Bacon and egg for tea - can't beat it sometimes.
4. DS doing so well with his new maths "thing"
5. House being tidy for once.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Frith I apologise for any misunderstanding. Good luck with Soulmates, you have to sort a lot of chaff before you get to the wheat.
Hugs for everyone feeling sad or unwell, and those having work problems.
No pleasures today, sat in A & E all afternoon with DD who had been trying to help me by laying a paving slab. Unfortunately it was a 36" x 23" slab of concrete which trapped her hand between it and the garden shed. Result was 2 crushed fingers which the local hosp can't mend as they don't have facilities so have to take her further afield for an appt with plastic surgeon in ther morning, and to see how the bones can be set. Bless her she was only trying to help, but I thought my days of sitting in A & E with one of my children were long over!
Tomorrow will be brighter
Sweet dreams
