I'll second that Tealady.I dont know why they all go crawling back to their wives.. they spilt up in the first place.. Must have bene a reason.I know my partner who sounds a bit like Mr N in some respects had a ex spouse that completely did them over - was lazy, ran up debts, ran off with someone else etc. Now of course I dont know what type of partner they were before but now they dont contact, buy gifts, talk much,, etc etc..I keep saying we are not ALL the same you know but it appears I am being tarred with the same brush..

Today's pleasures:
1. The smell of the air. It smells lovely and fresh, and at the same time heavy with rain. Bliss after yesterday's heat.
2. The look of the trees. They seem to be reaching up for the sky a bit taller in response to the showers. Lovely to see.
3. A colleague offered me a chocolate biscuit at work, and it sparked a great conversation about retro chocolate bars and sweeties. Ahh, memories. I wonder if Uniteds are still available? I used to love those...
4. Not spending as much as I thought I would while shopping.
5. A weird feeling of peace. Calm before the storm, perhaps, but it's a nice peaceful feeling at any rate.
Have a nice evening. Welcome, MrsB, hope you like it here.

Hiya
Mine quickly before i start on bedtime routine.
1. Walked a bit further on 6.30am dog walk. Just far enough to see the sea. I love that view.
2. I had a discussion with one of the mums at school at politics today. Was really nice discussing something like that without being told i dont know what i am talking about as i dont agree with the person.
3. After reading on here about airing the bed. I pulled back all the duvets and opened the windows. Feels alot fresher upstairs now. And then cleaned the house whizzing around like a mad woman all morning.
4. Spent the afternoon sewing, finished my napkins that i started a few weeks ago and fixed my top. And even managed a bit of homework.
5. Got whoopsie cheese. 400g for 20p so got 5! :T0 -
My five for today:-
1. It's cooler, it's fresher, it's bliss.
2. Visiting my friend who has moved to within striking distance from me, from a long way away.
3. Taking friend some knitted dishcloths - she loved them.
4. DH Painting the toilet while I was out.
5. DH cleaning tops of the kitchen cupboars while I was out.
Bella.A man's life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possesseth. Luke 12 v 150 -
Bonsoir MrsB31 - this is a good place to regularly be, yet not a treadmill.
Nuttybabe - a brilliant cheese find.
Sparrer - yes, let's, please:). Not that we haven't had various tries, but the Bus Pass is a real plus. Remember you can go to Oxford, too. When cabin fever strikes and money is tight, it's good to feel escape is possible. That knowledge is, in and of itself, priceless remedy.
1. Reverbe, it's good to have you back and in your honour I found one penny, another penny and a 50p today! All outside Mr T, between car and entrance.
2. Tales of the mighty storm. Over at Charity showroom today, the Heavens did much more than suddenly open. I'd heard a flashfloods warning specific to a tiny area en route over this morning and was surprised - this was on national radio, R4/R5. Around 15.50h, within minutes, water was surging through the vast roller door opening. I shouted for help to try and move back mattresses and other sold furniture. The water moved in an inexorable tide, even forcing through under the [now]shut roller door and fire doors. Out front customers stayed in shelter. One or two tried to dash for their cars but were forced back in. I have possibly known something like this once or twice[Southern Spain, New Zealand mountain bush road]but nothing remotely like it ever in England.
I love big weather.
3. We have some dear and super people in. An older gentleman came up with a £10 note. I didn't know why - he'd not bought anything from me so I assumed he'd been with L. out the back for some furniture. 'No, no' said he 'I just saw your sign.' I looked and suddenly realised. L has written on a blackboard 'Donations urgently wanted'.......
Light dawned. I gave him a huge hug and all around applauded spontaneously. This little cameo, complete and perfect, seemed to spur other generosities from those around. Many 'Keep the change' phrases and similar. It was marvellous.
4.Needed more petrol to get back at day's end. Huge quueue @ Mr T. Soon saw why - forecourt flooded, hence 2 pumps only. When eventually my turn came to pay, cashier lady said the store had flooded right up the aisles - ankle-deep near the doors.
We swapped our Big Weather stories.
5. Dropped another mattress off for L's still ill son. I was pleased to find a v.g. John Lewis one among our stock for him. She insisted on adding petrol money, which I really appreciated.
6. Despite the GRRR of having just found my glasses are broken AGAIN - another new frame:mad::mad::mad: - at least saw the fallen out lens in my lap AND found a previous pair so I can read ce soir.
7. Will now go and attempt a new signature - still no further enlightenment from Forum Team.
8. Feeling grateful for ability to survive in some style in these times that are tightening noticeably week on week and are much harder, more cruel, for those who have no idea how to make a great game of it.
9.Bought apples before petrol and anticipated eating a couple as I drove back. One bite....yeccch, foul flannel, or was it blotting paper? No way were they NZ Gala, esp. as these and Braeburns were found in my NZ province. Returned them and had no trouble doing so. Fruit is becoming so expensive now.
10. Bed now and book - it's been a big day/big weekend.
Dear Frith - will you try and promise us to do no more ringing up/texting of Mr N? Your self-respect needs no more battering after your former OH primed you in this and set the template for Mr N.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

kittikins - Glad to hear the exam went well
MrsB - Welcome to the thread!
1) Sun....and a bit of heat!
2) Washing finally dry
3) Last of the yellow sticky pork chops for dinner
4) Drop off and pick up at the library
5) Very quick chat with mum on the phone as she's moving house tomorrow - she didn't sound too stressed
Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them

Evening everyone:wave:
What a lovely sunny day it's been! Makes a change, that the north of England gets the best weather, and the south gets the rain
Today's pleasures
- Sitting in the garden with coffee and craft magazines
- Cut the grass and did some weeding - it's looking respectable again
- Made a lovely (if I say it myself) congrats card for my friends daughter who's just got her first teaching post
- Finally got my will sorted out. OK it sounds a bit depressing, but I feel a lot happier knowing it's finally been done, so I can now forget about it
- Off to visit a friend tomorrow
- My dentist commented yesterday how vastly my oral health had improved since I gave up smoking
I do enjoy reading about everyone else's pleasures - always encourages me to stand back and appreciate the many pleasures in my life.
And Frith - I do hope you don't mind me commenting, but I do feel you are worth so much better than MrN - he's messed you about for far too long. Show him the door! I know I don't know you or him for that matter, but sometimes an onlooker sees more of the game.

Evening.
My five for Tuesday:
1. Much cooler day - more comfy and only a smattering of rain.
2. Quick walk into town for toothpaste - our store cupboard had run out and nobody had told me. On offer so bought 4 for the price of 3. I like it when essentials (and the sort I would be buying anyway) are on offer.
3. Some more rows of the cardigan while listening to 15 mins of radio.
4. Spending a bit of time in the company of the most happy, smiling, contented baby imaginable.
5. £5 worth of Co-op vouchers in the post.
Sleep well,
B x0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today,
1. Lovely croissant for breakfast, bought a huge box in Mr.T (yellow sticky) so took them into work to share. Already had butter and jam at work.
2. Everyone took breakfast and lunch with them for school / work so no extra spends there
3. DD had a GCSE today, she is not sure how she did but she at least tried hard. Due to her dyslexia when she started at this school they didn't expect her to be even sitting any exams so this is a marked improvement.
4. Yellow sticky dinner for everyone. Beef wellington for me, Fillet steak for OH and Breaded chicken breast for DD. All very tasty and only cost pennies :money:
5. Managed to walk home from work between the rain, thunder and lightning.
Hugs to all who need them0
