Evening all.
sparrer - my car's still the key-operated variety, too, so you're far from alone!
Carolyntia - very well done for continuing to hold out in the face of cravings. :T
1) A pretty red damsel-fly sunbathing on a pot outside my patio doors, where I could admire it without disturbing it.
2) Put my name down as a volunteer at the new community-run plant / craft / fruit and veg stall that's just opened on the seafront. I wasn't sure if they'd be able to use me as I can only do weekends but the organiser was actually really pleased as she's had few volunteers to do weekend shifts and it means she might be able to have the odd weekend off now.
3) Mooched down to the heavy horse show on the common and admired all the lovely horses.
4) It was meant to be an NSD today but I found a little food market had been added to the horse show and came away with several months' supply of locally-made cheeses.(The smoked garlic one is particularly .)
5) I suspect we may be in for a thunderstorm tonight - it feels very sticky and threatening this evening. :j
Have a pleasant Sunday evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hello what super weather & a fab weekend so far - Im going to combine a few I think as Ive been out & about over the looooong weekend
1. Friday Camping with mates - beautiful location

3. Great weather...bit windy though
4. Keeping within our Bank Hol weekend spending budget
5. Ace dinner on Sat of HM pizza, HM wedges, HM Coldslaw & salad (Only had to buy mozzarella) OH said better than shop bought
6. Several loads of washing dried on the line, although my towel did alomost end up in the canal (thanks to kind / nosy neighbour for telling me.

10. Text from friends saying they will come for lunch tomm & a visit to the sculpture park (free)0 -
Evening all,
Hope you have all had a lovely Sunday. Its been gorgeous in my neck of the woods, though we definately need a spot of rain here. Sady none is forecast for the next 10 days.
1) Lovely afternoon in the garden. I planted out my potatoes, courgettes, beans and sunflowers. I am looking forward to a sunflower forest in a couple of months!
2) Had my first Skype call with my parents.
3) Stopped myself from being very rude in the supermarket. I was in the basket only check out and a lady and her daughter and baby came up behind me. The nice cashier pointed out that it was basket only and she ignored him:mad:. I then said, "you do realise this is basket only". She got a right strop on and said could I not see that she had a baby with her and carried on unpacking her trolley. I nearly said "I didn't realise having babies made you entitled to be so rude", but restrained myself. Instead I said to the cashier "ooh I have forgotten something, do you mind of I go and get it?" i then took my time... so if the stupid woman had used the correct check she wouldn't have been delayed. She was so cross by the time I got back!!! Yep... I admit it was a tad passive agressive...
4) Bought some yummy rioja and am enjoying a lovely glass now:cool:
5) Gorgeous beef roast from Mr S for £2.50... its one of the TTD ones so I am looking forward to having that sometime soon.
Hope you all have a great bank holiday.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Good afternoon all! I hope you've all had good days.
Here's my 5 for today:
1) I now own a slow-cooker:j I've been going about wanting one for ages, and OH bought me one today as a surprise!! Looking forward to using it tomorrow.
2) Having duck for dinner - a rare treat, but was whoopsied in Mr. A.
3) Having time to read a good chunk of my library book.
4) Catching up with a friend that i've not seen recently, due to busy schedules.
5) Getting free coffee and pastries at a coffee shop, as the owner is having his laptop fixed by my OH.2011 Wins : Models own makeup product, Photoplusx4 software:j Mens hair dye :rotfl:0 -
5 or so for today (Sunday).
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Woken by sons sitting either side of me in bed watching Dr Who on the laptop!
3) Brunch cooked by MrN.
4) Went on a walk around the edge of the parish (not all of it, it's the 2nd biggest parish in Great Britain!) It runs every May Sunday and attracts more walkers each year. The actual boundary is 25 miles but we do the 3 mile kid's walk. Glorious weather once again and lovely scenery.
5) Made quite a nice tea.
6) Got on with a bit of tidying tonight. Hoovered, did dishes, on 2nd load of washing, tidied and cleaned bathroom.0 -
Evening everybody, hope you've all had a good Sunday.
Ladyhawk Thank you for posting the link. The video and pictures were heartbreaking, what were they trying to prove, for God's sake?
T-cut is a cream which you rub onto minor scratches on the paintwork of a car and it 'miraculously' makes them disappear! A very old-fashioned product, I'm sure there are more modern ones which claim to be better but it works for me so I'll go on using it.
CCP and MHags cars that unlock with keys are a dying breed, pleased to know I'm in such good company
katie congrats on getting the sc, it's made an amazing difference to my cooking (no more tough beef!), it'll soon become indispensible in your kitchen
DitaBombita my wild garlic came to nothing, well done on finding it when you were foraging. The recipe sounds delish
1. Up early to do a car boot sale. It was a beautiful morning in my little square, sheltered and warm, but standing on the side of a sloping field with the wind whipping everything up it was f-f-f-f-freezing! On the plus side I sold quite a lot which means the pets and I can eat this week
2. A dark wood curtain pole from the second bedroom didn't sell, so rather than buy a white one I'll rub it down and paint it. I could have done that in the first place but I thought if it sold the money would go toward a new one. How lazy and very un-OS was that?
3. All leftovers from the above posted on freecycle/bagged up for the charity shop
4. NSD if you exclude the £4 entrance fee for the above, but I made a goodly amount so have discounted that. Hope that's not cheating, you have to speculate to accumulate
5. Was tempted to put the heating on when I got back but had as hot shower and got into my jimmes and a pretty, cosy kaftan instead. Then fell asleep for two hours
Night night, sweet dreams

1. I've now got a reasonably good level of painkillers in my system so 3 out of every 4 hours my leg feels good!
2. NSD
3. No Petrol Day
4. DD had a lovely fun day with her uncle (my bro).
5. Bro cooked us both yummy dinners tonight
6. Nice texts and phone calls from friends to see how I'm doing
7. Slept lots today and am very sleep again now, at least having a bad leg is helping with my insomnia, lol!
8. Planning on introducing OH to my bro tomorrow
9. Friend brought round some yummy pasta salad.0 -
Evening all
Ladyhawk - Eek! that extortionate! Oh well if you think of any other ways I can help let me know. I know what you mean about sleeping in your own bed. I've spent so much time away that I love my bed - duck and down mattress topper, duvet and pillowsI had my first Skpe call with my mate last week....unfortunately still haven't managed to persuade my mum it's a good idea yet
CCP - Thanks....I don't understand why it's getting harder the longer I've given up though - 5 weeks now and I seriously feel like throwing in the towel some days
Marmite - Are you ok....haven't seen you post for a little while....I've PM'd you. Maybe you've gone on hols and I missed it....anybody else seen Marmite?
1) A very lazy day reading newspapers and doing Soduku
2) Really enjoyed my week off
3) Totally relaxed for the first time in a year
4) Such a beautiful sunny day that even this soft southerner managed to take her fleece off - sad but true
5) Still enjoying lots of reading and it's still taking my mind off the smoking
6) I've saved approximately £400 so far by not smoking - whoa....that's a lot....imagine what I could've done with all that money over the last 26 years
Well it's back to work tomorrow for me. One day of handover then on to my new (temporary) job. I did have a phone call today....very quickly told them to ring my boss (I will charge 1/2 overtime though). Interview is on Thursday. I'm really looking forward to it. Got new trousers (£8) and a couple of tops to choose from. Being an engineer I'll be lucky if I manage to turn up looking presentable - always manage to look like I got dressed in a wind tunnel in the dark no matter what I put on or how expensive it is (poor old Gok would find me a challenge) - thankfully the industry seem to recognise it and don't really judge you on your clothes :rotfl:
Hope you all enjoy your bank holiday.

Evening all.
Carolyntia, well done on the non-smoking. I'm an ex-smoker and it just gets better and better the longer you stay stopped.
My five for Sunday:
1. Wonderful weather. I feel so cheered up by it.
2. DS1 came home in one piece having been partying through last night ready to celebrate in May morning
3. Absolutely all my clothes are now washed, ironed, mended and put away, or put in the charity shop bag, or in the rag bag for recycling. DS2 and I are now working through all his clothes.
4. I've really enjoyed making the time to get buttons sewn on, the knees mended on my old trousers (I've saved two pairs of worn-out ones just for things like decorating and doing the garden), and to do some proper darning. I love darning.
5. My friend who is working in the States rang late last night and we had a good long chat.
Sweet dreams

Thanks Broomstick but any tips would be warmly welcome as I'm struggling a little at the moment
