Hi All
Mine for today
1 Leaving for school early (the Otis effect is working again!!!) and listening to ds1 laughing all the way after showing him a picture of Otis jumping on daddys head last night!! :P
2 Having a lovely free lunch at my volunteer support workers meeting. And dd and ds2 were so well behaved (they didnt want to put on childcare as it was just my 2 so let them sit in with us), eveyone commented on how good they were which is always nice to hear!
3 Dh getting a £15 m&s voucher and giving it to me!!! Yay!!! Think I will treat us to something nice!!
4 Making a lovely cheesy pasta bake for tea and everyone eating it all even dd!!
5 Watching a film with dh and sewing a sock monkey.
I hope everyone is having a nice evening.0 -
Here are mine for the day:
1) Being taken out for a meal instead of cooking (DH's treat) after massive queues on the A1 made me late for work and have to walk a mile in the freezing cold tonight.
2) Nearly having finished a bottle of moisturiser. I can't remember the last time I actually finished a bottle of lotion like that. I usually get bored and buy another, so go me!
3) Finishing the puzzles in my magazine.
4) Getting into the habit of not eating between meals!
5) The warm sunshine on my back in the office - bliss.
Ollie - I used an idea I saw on MSE somewhere, (I forget exactly where...) but you roll out puff pastry and cut out a shape - I did little circles - and put a quantity of sausagemeat mixed with stuffing on. Then I put a lattice of pastry on the top. Only I used my MIL's wonderful stuffing recipe - not sure where it came from originally though! Here it is:
1/4lb lean bacon, chopped into smallish pieces
1/4lb fresh breadcrumbs
1/2 level teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 level teaspoon mixed dried herbs
1oz melted butter
Put the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix together. Add the melted butter and a little milk to bind it loosely. Put into the oven at Gas 6 or equivalent and bake for 20-25 minutes or thereabouts.
And I took pictures! Here's the link to it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitchen_bunny/4170203818/

Hello!
Most of my pleasures have a seasonal theme today!
1. Coming home to find out my OH had brought the tree and decorations down from the loft
2. Putting up and decorating the tree
3. Lighting a festive scented candle
4. Seeing my kittens face the first time he saw all the shiny decorations
5. Relaxing in my newly decorated living room!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.............Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
1. Forgetting to go to a meeting today (oops!) but being told by 2 people afterwards that my boss took a few minutes to praise me for being such a great member of the team, apparently he wants to talk to me tomorrow - probably to tell me off for not going to the meeting, lol....I'm blaming the painkillers addling my brain!
2. Being shown how to make fabulous little cardboard boxes, so cute and perfect for a little biscuit present
3. DD read her school book really confidently tonight. I'm so pleased with her enthusiasm.
4. Have started making a 101 things in 1001 days list, a good idea to hopefully get me out of my shell a bit and also concentrate my mind on actually achieving a few things!
5. Feeling strong this evening after an emotional challenge. Someone called my house asking for an ex boyfriend, the man who completely shattered my heart, and I've just emailed the exboyf with the number, and don't feel completely devastated at being reminded of him.....just a bit sad. Daft, as we broke up 2 years ago, but I've not really dated much since him, it's too painful0 -
Evening everyone
mine for the last two days, scraping around a bit
1) taking prepared porridge out of the fridge for breakfast and sticking in the microwave, can't remember which thread I saw it on, but if you soak the oats overnight in water it makes really creamy porridge, saves cals on milk so don't mind adding a bit of sugar...or syrup...or maple syrup...you get the picture?
2) saying hello to people on the way to work, they might think I am strange but I get a few hellos back
3) realising I needed a pressie for step sons g/f, getting an idea from New Look and making something for half the price
4) just generally having a laugh with girls at work, we all know its not a good place to work but getting on with your workmates is priceless
5)still loads of choccys and bikkies at work, must be my turn to take something in soon, think I will do mince pies
Oh and hearing that DD had had a good night out with two of her mates, she hasn't had a girlie night out for over 2 years due to pregnancy....no she is not an elephant, just had 2 babies in quick succession lolwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine
Stopped smoking 20:30 28/09/110 -
Ampersand, guess I got my Dh and DD mixed up lol Yes its blonde dizzy daughter thats preggers. Sorry if I baffled you !! Will do my 5 pleasures tomorrow as we had a quiet day today but we have 20 week scan tomorrow so I will be giddy as anything as I will hopefully know if Im having a grandson or grand daughter or do I want to know?Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Drat, lost what I just typed!! Now, what did I say....?
I have found this on the internet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs6eImqP0TI&feature=related and was feeling very emotional anyway and this was the final straw! It reminded me so much of my time at 6th Form College in the early 90's when everything was simple and we were all happy!
The last couple of days have been rather up and down. I am due to go to court on Thursday against my ex husband. For 12 months he has been living (and engaged) to a rather unusual lady. She has been addicted to various substances since her teenage years and unfortunately has all the social problems associated with addiction. For this reason, she is not allowed any contact with my sons. The ex chose her over the boys so has chosen (for 12 months) to only see them for 3 hours here and there.
Anyway, on Thursday, it was to be the 6th time he had taken me to court to try and let new fiancee see the boys. Every time he has had this refused. The ups and downs are: he now says he has left her. (Which I must say seems jolly convenient, 3 days before court!) and he is in quite a lot of trouble.
I knew from people locally that trouble was afoot. Turns out next week he is going to court for fraud - 20 counts of fraud :-S No one is allowed to know any more than that in case it impacts on the investigation but I suppose I shall know more after the trial. I don't know whether this will end in a prison sentence. Its all a shambles. We have been asking (through court) for his police files since June and he won't let us have them. Now I see why.
5 for today!
1) Working at school, watching a rehearsal for little son's Christmas play and helping them make little trees.
2) Little son being moved from the "Special" reading scheme to the normal one! If he keeps going at this rate we shall be able to ditch the Ed Psych and the paediatrician. He has already seen off an occupational therapist and a speech and language therapist this year!
3) Bigger son's last skiing lesson.
4) Going to mum and dad's (to borrow a tie and a bow tie from Dad for their roles in the plays) and mum and dad watching little son fire up their computer and start playing games online! They didn't know he could do that.
5) Getting a bucket from my brother so tomorrow I can dig our Christmas tree up and bring it in. We bought one with roots that lives in the garden inbetween Christmasses. And he gave me a lot of mistletoe as well now the sales are over.
6) Getting a load of ironing done.
7) Remembering a book I had bought for mum which will be ideal for her birthday on Thursday.
That's about it!

KitchenBunny - I'm now aiming to give that recipe a go.
Kittikins- Good for you! Be strong!
My five for today:
1. Finally managing to find the Wii family challenge in Tesco while it's still half price. I've been checking for days! Grandparents' gift to my boys and my gift to my nephews - sorted! (I can't wait to have a go and can see lots of competitive fun challenging my boys!)
2. Managing to resist the square outdoor planters at Homebase which were marked down to only 99p - and focussing on the task in hand...
3. Researching Christmas trees at Homebase and deciding they weren't worth the money (or my Nectar points, more to the point).
4. Arranging to see an artificial Christmas tree posted on our local 'Flogit' (like Freecycle but for money or swaps) and bringing it home for the princely sum of £15. 6ft tall, strudy and in fabulous condition. I'll get some chaser lights tomorrow to keep DH happy (his fibre optic tree wouldn't work this year so I pre-empted him getting a like-for-like replacement! I need to 'fluff it up' once I've completed the job application and I've got another book event to try to sell some stock at tomorrow night.
5. DS1 and some of his friends playing or singing wonderfully in the school concert this evening. Lots of children took part, mostly as soloists and always because they volunteered. Some were incredibly good and some were very enthsuiastic novices - but every one of them was brilliant in front of a big audience. None of them got phased if they went wrong, just re-started from a good point and carried on. It's so lovely to see such confidence in these young'uns without a hint of cockiness.
6. My boys asking if Ralph the Elf had set them a challenge today. I told them they needed to design a Christmas decoration- and DS1 came up with 'blueprints'. I can't tell you what he designed though because he is sure it's a commercial winner - "My best invention ever!"0 -
Thank you for your kind words
1. Woke to a beautifully sunny morning so hung the washing out in the breeze.
2. Sorted the remains of Sunday's boot sale, one box for the charity shop, one for the tip and one to keep for the Spring sales.
3. Had my shoulder-length hair cut/blow dried by a newly qualified student at the local college for £7. Very pleased with my new short style which will save me some pennies in shampoo
4. Have been cooking from the freezer and larder for almost 3 weeks to run them down, only shopped for fruit/veg and milk
5. I've saved £150 in supermarket saving stamps so the next few weeks shouldn't cost anything. The trick is to spend exactly the amount of stamps (or just over) as they don't give change...the bonus £'s are wasted otherwise
Night night, God bless and take care

Morning to everyone, my 5 for today are.
1. Have managed to hold on to tail wagger until Friday.......Lots and lots of long walks, discovering the local area together. I've only moved to this area 8 months ago, and have found out more in the last two days than the last 6 months.:j
2. Chatting with a mse poster, who is sending me recipes, for my new veggie quest. Trying to cut butchery bills.:money:
3. Friend came and with the help of Patchworks :A pm, taught me how to crochet flowers. Real result, now going around flat looking for things to give the flower touch.
4. DS is heading away this weekend for his uni interview, as a special treat i took him to Jacks of London for haircut .....BELFAST branch. Was expecting to pay £20 plus, because he is a student and it was Tuesday specials day it cost £13. Was just so pleased with the discount. Still a bit to pay for a haircut, but as i say it was for a treat, and he so pleased with the result.:money:
5. NSD today, i hope.
