    My five for today are
    1. Seeing DGD Holly (16) and feeding her breakfast this morning, especially as she is a fussy eater,so its chooky egg and soldiers for us both this morning.

    2. Baking a victoria sponge for DGS (Danny)to nibble on nightly this week when he drops my paper off on his way home from work

3.Hopefully getting all my Christmas cards written out and ready to post

4.Making a huge vat of soup for the freezer with all the left over veggies in my vegatable rack.I have dug out some chicken stock from the freezer as well. With luck several litres of chunky soup so no wasteage from my slightly past it store

    5. Breaking up from college tonight and handing my completed essay in for marking.Yay no more brain ache for a couple of weeks at least

I can now concentrate on the important things in life at the moment ,mainly sorting out the food cupboard for Christmas

Good morning all :hello: - oooh still quite dark out there this morning. The bin is out and so is the food waste recycling container :j.

Welcome back to our returnees ((((HUGS)))) and welcome to newbies/lurkers - HShuggies.gifall round.

bunnytoo - good to hear that you all enjoyed the pre-christmas weekend and that you've made the most of having a tail-wagger for a couple of days .
Orkney Star - well into your family Christmas preparations there :T!
Nomoneymummy - welcome back to your OS ways ;) and wd you on getting so far into the christmas prep.
SunnyGirl - wd on your lie-in and loving the sound of your corned beef hash .
Sublime - How good to have a lovely free day like that - wd to the grandparents for 'borrowing' your kids for a while :j.
Dazi - wd you on managing to 'keep the peace' with SD this weekend - maybe putting the tree up instilled some Christmas Spirit in her  - love your 'walking in treacle' description - spot on!
blackcrow - great news that your dad came home on Saturday - fingers crossed for January for his results.
heavenleigh - wd on your SC lunch yesterday and lol at your 18mth old's attempts to 'go the distance' - such a delightful age  - I've got a 26mth old dgd who didn't walk till 18mths and now runs everywhere .
nuttybabe - oh dear, it's beginning to look as though I'm the only one who hasn't 'made the effort' yet :o - may have to be next weekend! And it's so good to know that I'm not the only one who has a Resident Grinch .
nic1lou2 - What a wonderful weekend you've all had AND the Salvation Army Band to top it all off  - enjoy your movie :j.
Patchwork - well done you on making Sunday School so friendly and interesting for the children :T.
Kitchenbunny - good to hear that you're feeling a little better today - do you think it could be anything to do with the reduced hours of sunlight/daylight at the moment - notorious at this time of year for making people feel down. Hope that's all it is - BIG smiley-hug008.gif for you!
elizabunny - love the sound of your trip to the garden centre - we could do with a visit to ours - they have a Farmyard Grotto with lots of animals at this time of year.
scotrae - Congratulations on having such lovely young men for godsons/newphews :T and well done to you and dh on the decision to cut out sunday roasts for the next couple of weekends :T - we started to do this a few years back and it DOES make you appreciate your Christmas Lunch so much more.
ACEY - wd on your Wii activities :T. Aaaarrghhhh  - long divisions - rather you than me!
Broomstick - Shutting down the parlour for the winter sounds like a good idea :T - and should help to keep the bills/cold down. Double check though in case you may need to 'air it' a couple of times during the winter - just to keep any damp at bay. I know that Nan and Grandad used to light a fire in our parlour on Christmas Day and Boxing Day only, even though it was technically 'not used' in Dec/Jan due to the freezing cold and 'lifting carpet'!
jexygirl - have a good couple of days off work :j - look forward to reading your pleasures .
JackieO - lucky Holly, having her nana to 'fuss over her' this morning  - my dgd1 (Dannii-lou) adores being here overnight and having breakfast put in front of her ;). wd on finishing college for a few weeks :j.

    Mine for yesterday:

    1. Completed a 'no spend week' - not counting my hairdresser that OH paid for :j!

    2. Spent the morning and early afternoon baking - Lemon Drizzle Cake and 24 Iced Fairy Cakes for dgs1's School Christmas Fayre - please God that they all make it there !

    3. 2 loads of laundry done and dried on airers/radiator rails overnight :j.

    4. Evening meal of whoopsied Deli Counter Chinese meals and mini snacks - been in freezer for ages, so that's made some more space in there :T.

    5. Visit from DD with her b/f and dgs1 and dgd2 to collect the cakes - didn't like the way dgs1 was eyeing them up though . dgs1 had put a large bottle of Coca-Cola in the freezer at home and it had exploded all over the freezer contents making them unuseable . Went through my freezers and sorted out some things that I know the kids will eat, so DD went home with the makings of a few meals for the next couple of days till pay-day! They were most disappointed that there was no frozen scouse in there, but 'The Grinch' ate the last of it during the week lol. So there's now an EVEN BIGGER SPACE in the freezers :rotfl:!

That's me done for now - and I need to go and get ready for work. Extra special HShugs211_32276.gif all round. I'll pop back in again later to see how folks are getting on today - love Ollie xxx

3 - DH called me and told me that he is taking the afternoon off tomorrow and the full day off on Tuesday next week (maybe my moaning is paying off after all!).

    Evening all

    My five for today are

1 The lovely welcomes from everyone - it is a very friendly place to be:D

2 Got a phone call after work from a local Radio Station to say I had won a competition for 4 people to have a 3 course meal and wine at their Christmas Party night on thursday:j OH doesn't really want to go but both DDs are excited and am going to toss a coin to see which friend comes too!!

3 Unexpected tasty meal of corned beef hash and dumplings this evening - I thought that I had taken a container of chillli out of the freezer before I left for work this morning but really enjoyed the hash after all.

4 Really happy discussions at work about the Christmas party we went to on Saturday - as I am the organiser I do feel responsible but it seems everyone (even the awkward ones) enjoyed it:D:D:D

5 Now this is going to sound like a strange one to anyone not from Leeds - my dustbin was emptied today!!!! We have had a long dustman strike ( 12 or 14 weeks I forget which) and today was the first time that the dustbin has been emptied properly on the right day since the strike was called off. It is such a relief - it was awful seeing bags of rubbish piled up in the streets (and a health hazard:eek:) but it looks like things are slowly getting back to normal:D

Hope you all have a pleasant evening
