5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Its not altogether straightforward in that there was originally thought that some of smaller son's problems were due to the ex's treatment of him when he was a baby. He is now 7 and the child psych is still pondering over him. Which does beg the question whether smaller son is the way he is due to his dad's behaviour when they visit him or my stressy, ptsd problems which surely affect other people. For my part, I don't really want to go and talk to a nice, smiley paediatrician and child psych about my rubbishy life 5 years ago. But I have to!
Hugs Frith
take it gently. Butting in a bit - there are some very very good "cures" for PTSD that do NOT require the person concerned to talk about it.
Actually I do not think they are cures but they do make it possible to talk about what happened without getting so upset.
I used to spend days in a desparate spiral of distress before I learned about them (mainly NLP stuff).
Given that you have to have repeated contact with your ex, I am astounded that your PTSD buttons are not pushed every week and sometimes several times a week.
I do wish those B*****y judges would understand this before they forced people to have repeated contact with violent exs.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi everyone
Frith - I hope today went okay for you. You sound like a brave and wonderful woman x
Well folkies, here are today's 5
1. Lovely sun breaking through the cold and fog
2. Chat with great colleague I haven't seen ages
3. Big chat with neighbours
4. Picking all my green tomatoes to make chutney.
5. Getting a big sweetie jar from my newsagent and making damson gin
Love to allx2012 Saving challenge £1000/£400! Woo! :wave:0 -
Evening all,
Frith - hope everything went smoothly today
Sparrer - thanks for your kind comments as always.
I'm shattered tonight and am about to head to bed... another 12 hours in the office
1) Biscuit samples in the office... ginger nut (my favourite)
2) Quick walk after lunch with a nice colleague
3) Got my emails almost under control (only have 80 in my inbox)
4) Someone who hopes to do some work with us on a massive project and he turned out to be rather easy on the eye which made a rather nice change.
5) Easy and yummy supper of bits and bobs from the fridge (beef stew, brown rice, savoy cabbage and sweetcorn)
zzzzzzzzzzzz
Night all
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Frith I hope the day went well for you
crickett I love your 'positive attitude' signature, I might just borrow it(And I like the message re your husband too, lol)
Free cakes, Tealady...aren't they the ones that are calorie free?. Well done on the survey/reward
Blimus the sitting by the sea wall, the heron, the casserole with cheesy dumplings, all sounds idyllic
RAS good to hear someone else who understands a problem.
Gingerjar I don't particularly like Autumn but it can be beautiful can't it? Congrats on getting the sweetie jar for your damson gin...that's going to be one heck of a lot of booze!
Ladyhawk good for you getting a walk at lunchtime. I always fall asleep about then (Just as well I'm retired). Your No 4 sounds like a pleasant addition to your working day
My 5
1. Got some bargain shopping this morning, a rake, a garden spade, a huge sack of cement, a double orchid and two birthday cards for under £25, and 500 extra nectar points :T
2. Finished a jar of marmalade and one of mayo, washed them out ready to add to the bagful to offer on freecycle - I don't make jams or chutneys but know people are always looking for jars. It was when I soaked off the labels and carefully laid them to dry so I could add them to the recycling bin, rather than throw the soggy paper in the black one, that I wondered if I'm taking this green thing too far!
3. Made a list of things I had to do today and stuck to it rather than just procrastinating as I too often do
4. Read Martins blog 'How much further can you go on a tank of petrol?' and am making an effort to follow it. Difficult when I drive an auto but I think I managed to save a teaspoon of petrol today
5. My neighbour's DD cleared some ivy from my fence. I'm horribly allergic to it so was very grateful for her help
Night night (((hugs))) everyone

Hi Sparrer - does your car have a computer thing that tells you your MPG? I bought a "new" car a few months ago and I have this function - it's fabulous and has completely revolutionised the way I drive! I thought I was quite a good driver but I realised quite quickly that I get another 5-10mpg by changing my driving - and I've got an automatic too, love it!!0

Good morning everyone..:D
My five for yesterday are..
1. We managed to travel safely from home to our caravan in 30 minutes less then what it normally takes. The roads weren't at all busy.
2. Arrived to a nice clean caravan, having had all the carpets cleaned before our arrival. Only problem is that they haven't completely dried and now the soles of my feet look like David Dickenson's face.:rotfl:
3. Saw a lovely, fluffy bunny rabbit hopping around outside when we arrived.
4. Spent a relaxing evening watching telly, after a nice homemade prawn salad for our supper.
5. Had a really cosy night sleeping, with the spare double duvet under the bottom sheet and a flat sheet and double duvet on top, all flannel sheets. No need to switch the heater on, save for 15 minutes to heat up the room last night. Nice sunny day here today, so out for a bit of a gad about.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who are going through tough times. ((( ))):)Felines are my favourite

Morning,
Pleasures for yesterday:
1. Received a voucher in the post for some shortbread biscuits from Waitrose. Also recieved a small sample of moisturiser.
2. Had a sort out of the present box and updated list. Most christmas presents bought except for OH and DD. Sad i know but makes me happy
3. Finding something in the box suitable for a christening this weekend so don't need to spend any money and it only cost £1.24 but looks very expensive. Also found a small purse for DD to use for school as she seems to have misplaced hers.
4. Yummy HM chicken fried rice for dinner and enough left for dinner tonight will just add a sauce of some kind to it to make it appear a different dinner
5. Another NSD which is just as well as DD needed £30 today for art equipment:eek:
Hugs to all who need them0 -
1. Neighbour knocked on my door yesterday with some homegrown veggies
2. Homemade chocolate brownie with a cup of tea
3. Selling stuff on ebay, I love getting feedback saying the person is really pleased with the item I've sent. I love the fact that someone hundreds of miles away is getting use and enjoyment out of my clothes after I've finished with them, and the same when I buy from someone else.
3. Off to London tomorrow to see my oldest and bestest friend, can't wait!
4. Looking forward to getting some serious knitting done on the train0 -
Evening all. Sorry I've been AWOL for a bit. I haven't yet caught up with everyone's posts, so I'll just have to hope you're all well.
My pleasures for today:
1) Came home from my grandmother's house with some apples from her SIL's tree - and very nice they are too.
2) My freebie casserole dishes arrived while I was away. They're pretty good quality, particularly for freebies, and I'm all excited about using them for the first time. (Sad, isn't it?)
3) Picked another huge bowl of HG tomatoes, and some French beans.
4) I had to keep the work mobile with me today, despite being on leave, just in case there were any emergencies linked to the training event I'm running tomorrow - and it's been gloriously silent all day.
5) Found some of my 'special' milk (it's lactose free stuff) RTC, so it's gone into the freezer for later use.
Have a lovely evening, all, and I'll try and catch up on all the posts in the next few days.Back after a very long break!0 -
1) Managed to clean and tidy the house just before I went to ...
2) Lunch at a friend's house. We normally meet for coffee in her lunch hour but she was working this afternoon only and invited me to her house instead, so I had a lovely lunch and didn't have to spend a thing.
3) My ex-SIL is coming this evening. (Lovely woman. Why did he divorce her?) We are having a fakeout night with HM curry and dahl. I am trying not to look forward to the chocolates I hope she is bringing.
4) My neighbour's back garden is just beautiful. I am looking after their house and went for a quick check round today. The roses are all out and there are lots of small, pretty things inbetween.
5) Windfalls. They look dire but I'm sure I'm going to be able to make something useful out of them. I have some experimental cider fermenting in a corner of the kitchen but I'll have to wait two or three months to find out if it's any good.0
