Hello my other 5 a dayers!
Frith - your finger injury sounds horrible, I hope you're not in too much pain x
Well. I'm in my dressing gown having given into my cold. I love this thread as it makes me look on the bright side as sometimes I'm a bit of a doomhead. My 5 today are:
1. Being brought tea and toast in bed by my OH and DD, I am so blessed to have them.
2. Beautiful sunny day out there.
3. Last night's risotto for lunch, there's something gorgeous about cold risotto - yum
4. Sewing nametapes on DDs school uniform, now feeling v virtous!
5.. Watching Bergerac and Murder She Wrote - always feel very naughty watching daytime telly, sad but true. YOung Bergerac very handsome
Love to all x2012 Saving challenge £1000/£400! Woo! :wave:0 -
Hi all
I won't even try to read all the posts I missed because I am on the daddy of all dinosaur computers, slooooooooooowwwwww (my aunt's, age 81 -the aunt not the computer, not that you'd notice hehhhehhehehe)! Also do not bother replying because tomorrow I shall be in Sardinia the land of no computers as far as I know.
I just had to catch up because today at the local market stall in Rome I found a lovely OS thing that I have been after for a long time but did not find until today: the crossover pinny! I bought two of them! I feel soooo homely now!LOL
I am having a good time and eating far too much, so on my return I expect I shall be on a diet of water and celery. My five pleasures today:
1 Food
2 Food
3 Food
4 Food
5 Food and the crossover pinnies
Love to all, see you in a few days xxxxxxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Ladyhawk Happy Birthday for the weekend!
Frith hope you get your finger sorted out soon, ouch!
Caterina glad to hear you're having a great time
Mine:
1) more exercising on the Wii
2) followed by breakfast in bed, rice krispies
3) cuddles from dd
4) the scent of my Elemis shower gel (haven't gone non-mse as dp gave me it for my birthday in August)
5) Jamie Oliver's turkey and leek pie (dp made with left over chicken)
6) reading this thread"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the early birthday wishes... my actual birthday is on Monday (shared with one of my favourite writers of all time - Roald Dahl).
I've had a good day. Meeting near Heathrow and the traffic wasn't too bad. In the afternoon we did a disability awareness course which was fascinating. Basically it was how to communicate with people who communicate in unconventional ways and it was very humbling and actually made me feel rather ashamed of myself and my initial reactions to disabled people. I hope that going forward I will deal with my discomfort and concerns in a more positive manner. We even learned basic sign language which was pretty cool.
1) The training course
2) Settling down with a bottle of Savannah cider (cheap from Aldi) - I rarely drink at home so this is a little treat
3) NSD
4) Yummy HM banana bread
5) Home at 5.30!!! Woohoo!!!!
Night all. Sleep well
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Ouchy, poor finger Frith. Hope it's not too bad now. You mentioning Worcester brings back memories of when the ex and I lived in Droitwich, we had our wedding reception in Worcester
.
The plastic pot surprise sounds yummy Tealady. Do I presume that like me, you sometimes forget to label things? It makes for some very interesting meals, doesn't it?:D
Congrats on the sales mollie, long may it last. Did you see that piece on bees on television this evening, and how vital they are to the food chain? It's not really something I've thought about before but will do my best not to swat any too hard in future
Sorry to hear about the tax bill Primrose. They were saying on the news that a lot of people will get both bills and rebates, so I'd hang on for a while to see what happens!
Hope you feel better soon Gingerjar. I used to feel terrible watching daytime television but since I retired I admit to turning it on for the 1 o'clock news...and a few programmes afterwards. Well done on the name tapes, what a chore that is
Lovely to hear from you Caterina, and to know you took the time to post to us. Enjoy Sardinia
Ooh lucky you GirlySquare, Elemis and turkey (chicken) and leek pie. It all sounds very decadent
Sounds like a fascinating course Ladyhawk, disability awareness should be taught from an early age, I think. Pleased to hear you sat down this evening!
Missing posts from ampersand, Jex, Ollie and Reverbe
my 5
1. Had a man in to quote for laying the patio slabs. He wanted £200 which may be a fair price but out of the question for me. Now I've picked his brains about what to do I'm going to try to be OS and have a go at doing it myself
2. Postie brought me a letter inviting me to buy an extended insurance for the f/f, which is just a year old. I'm happy I have contents insurance, thereby saving myself the £144 they want
3. Made a crumble from the apples DM gave me, and added a couple of wrinklies from the fruit bowl
4. nsd
5. The rain at watering time. It seems to get its timing just right lately
6. The penny phone call. Not always as I'd like it to be but grateful for the short time my dearest friend and I have together on the phone each day
Night night (((hugs))) everyone

5 for today (Tuesday).
1) Walked to mum and dad's.
2) Looking after next door's boys went OK.
3) MrN came round.
Actually, only 3 for today. Have been a bit worked up this evening. Smaller son has a big appointment tomorrow (although in fact he does not have to go! I shall go alone). Its with the Communication and Social Behaviour Team and I have to comment on their final report. Poor MrN just came round to find me in tears thinking about it :-( Its not altogether straightforward in that there was originally thought that some of smaller son's problems were due to the ex's treatment of him when he was a baby. He is now 7 and the child psych is still pondering over him. Which does beg the question whether smaller son is the way he is due to his dad's behaviour when they visit him or my stressy, ptsd problems which surely affect other people. For my part, I don't really want to go and talk to a nice, smiley paediatrician and child psych about my rubbishy life 5 years ago. But I have to!0 -
My OS pleasures over the last few days...
1) really motoring through my work to do list. I feel I can almost cope with the amount of work people are setting in front of me at the moment. Makes a very pleasant change
2) Had a long conversation with my Dad last night and he only forgot two words in 15 minutes chatting. That is superb progress.
3) Went to see my homeopath last night. It was only my second visit, but she is totally superb and she was really pleased with my progress from the last time.
4) Have decided to attempt my first ever shabby chic project. Everything should be together by the end of the week, and I am really looking forward to it.
5) It's very foggy today, and feel very autumnal. I love autumn!!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
((((Hugs)))) Frith. I empathise re having the closed door to the past being opened, am thinking of you and sending vibes for strength your way0

2. Brought lunch to work with me again, I must get into doing this every day again.
3. Easy dinner of pasta and ragu sauce but as everyone was eating at different times worked well as OH who ate last has his as a pasta bake.
4. Met some new people last night who think I will get on with at a Friends of Guides Meeting, also volunteered to help out a few events over the next month or two.
5. Another survey done so more vouchers on way:T
Hugs to all who need them0 -
(((hugs))) to frith and everyone else who needs them.
Here are mine for today:
1) Woke up before the alarm so read some of my really good book while I waited for it to go off.
2) Really good history lessons with both DS's.
3) Sat by the sea wall whilst having a chat with my mum on the mobile.
4) DS2 and I saw a heron standing in the middle of a field. It was a real surprise but really pleased us both.
5) Just made a delicious looking leek and lentil casserole with cheesy dumplings - just off to test it out now.
Have a great evening everyone.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt
