* The kitchen gut and remodel is coming along. All cabinets are in except the one my builder forgot to order. :wall:
Countertops measured. The guy had a laser machine that measured with points along the walls and front of cabinets. Not all walls are straight he said. My granite slab will be here in a week. Black leathered. It will look fine with my cream colored cabinets.
It looks so very different in that small narrow room. Before there was dark wood paneling for wall cover with almost the same color cabinets. It was like a dungeon! I lived with it for 32 years. All that came down and now it's light and I love it!
* a few nice days reprieve from the blasting wind.
* Bun Bun the rabbit got fixed. Now he and his mother can co-mingle again. He was a sweet rabbit until he hit his teenage self (4 months). Then he started scratching and kicking when held. DD1 is hoping he will settle down now. They are patient.
* Watching how upset my husband is because he lost his cell phone. The reason it's a pleasure is because he absolutely did not want a phone...would never use it...waste of money etc etc. It's fun to know I was rightin getting him one anyway. He actually uses it a lot.
* Almost time to plant the veggie garden. I'm longing for homegrown tomatoes again!!
The day has just begun so....Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Aaaaaaand I am back in the room :T
Mhags - hope you are ok.
so, where to start - with a moan if i may. Please feel free to skip
The MiL, the MiL, the MiL -:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Dear god, but she was sent to try me. Repetitive stupid bloody questions (and, yes, I know she is elderly but she asks things she clearly knows the answer to. For example "what's H doing now?" (friend's daughter. "oh", I say, "she is at uni still", MiL "Leicester, isn't it?" Not in an "oh yes, I remember" but in a "oh yes, I knew where she was all along".) Everything was a complaint, from "it's lovely to be with everyone until i go back to that place where i live and am stuck there by myself again" (she isn't stuck by herself, there are ample opportunities for her to mingle); to "Your dog's fat" to a friend who'd come for dinner ; to "why do X and Y (grandson and fiance) want a big wedding anyway and why do we have to go so far". To "how are we getting to church" for the nth time. I know it would be easy to say "dementia" but i genuinely don't think it is.
The positives were that both SiL's and BiL were genuinely shocked at her behaviour because they don't see it. We shrugged it off with a "she is always like that here" - so it's us she is playing with
And ..... breathe.
the positives
1. the food was a success darlings. Quiches, salads, roast beef, gammon in coke, ice cream, pecan pie, chocolate mousse cake, banoffi pie, etc etc, all wolfed down and gratefully received. 12 on saturday night, 14 yesterday for lunch.
2. OH and I slept in the caravan for 2 nights. We really liked to do it, said a fond farewell as i doubt we will again. It is going really soon
3. Met our new great nephew. Lovely to have a gorgeous munchy baby to cuddle that could go back to mum and dad when he cried
4. Also got dog bothered, one for the weekend, one just for lunch yesterday. both good but the springer won the day - she is gorgeous
5. we did it :T From a tearful start to the day (MiL not me), i was as chirpy and cheery as i could be till i saw her onto the train with OH at 1.00.
Back to the marking.:(;)I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

VJsmum, aw to your number 2. Nice that Sil and Bil got to see how Mil acts up, and breathe.
Mila, you are brave we need a kitchen overhaul, I love the idea, dread the building work though. Hope it is all going well.- Watching a beautiful double rainbow come and go.
- Had to rationalise the fridge and freeze some bits and bobs.
- The interview came and went, I would really like the role but will not hear until Friday. More interviews to go this week at other places.
- Popped over the bridge to C0stco, picked up a few things and pizza for tonight before heading home in record time as neither of us feel like shopping at the mo.
- Captivating programme about storm chasers used in D Day on in the background.
- Animals literally grabbing me and dragging me outside to play.

2) Lovely hour when Sue came with her little grandson to play with Zebra, they got on like a house on fire and had so much fun.

5) Being taken up our garden path by a confused grandson and asked where the strawberries were???0 -

1...and & has just put down the phone from X. Missed* an earlier mob. one. Will now book train to somewhere:-)))))) Let Oz famberley of x know shortly....
2....while yet more marmalade does the Gentle Simmer, having mulched o/n, after  fiddly-diddling kumquats at last used up. Well, they were rtc 19p, emporium bien sûr, within living memory, but distant. V. perfumey right now though.
3. That* was & in Plod Hall, collecting things. Frontdesk face was uppity same as statement day, 6 months ago. Told 'closed Monday' with a shoved bit of paper and turning away. ''No, you are NOT closed Monday.'[&SMILE} ''Refer to blahblah.'' & in forensic reader old lady pedant mode removes fountain pen, removes cap of fountain pen, proceeds to correct spelling of 'Tuesday' on rough-cut paper, 2.5"x1.75", on which Property Open days/times are listed for hoi polloi , as which & will not self-classify. Stand-off. & immovable, courteous. smiles to all queuing behind, many students of Foreign Climes.
Frontman cannot be as frontman would wish to be to &, in front of Great British, and Other, Public.
'Orroight, follow me, through them grey doors. You can stand outside all y'like, see if anyone hears'', with fat Chance snigger. & re-caps fountain pen with care, replaces fountain pen in bag, processes through door. 'Out there, between them two buildings.' Gentle reader, you are saved from & enjoying herself here and then and there. Mr Plainclothes Nice, new arrival, intercedes. Eventually down a long ramp we go, amid much laden coming and empty going. Putahs appear to have been seized in great number as evidence. Mr PN introduces & to Mr Nice no.2, who eventually finds everything. & signs. & leaves for Bank. Some way down the road & is chased and caught up by Z, out of breath. 'You shouldn't have ~~~ that. That's part of Crown evidence!'
MsP: the aforegoing is decent example of pleasurable rant.:D
4. Banked Spits leftovers, then Grand Arcade for free cake+drink offered by kind Mr JL, emporium grandpa. It's always lovely to scan out over old & College roofs. Nah, not saying 'rooves'.
5. Downstairs, last village bus to catch [car left under hedge at edge of village] On way out, 4 staff eventually made &'s £5 Merci voucher for a big spend work. & did not whisper last week that she'd gone mad and re-Chanel'd to the count of 5. oh soddit, 100ml then - twice as much for half as much extra.

All Hail &? Well, it hailed ON &, during all outdoors walking today:D
