Hi, I'm quickly popping in to say hello, I've not read your posts as in a rush but want to remember I do have pleasures, so will catch up later.

Kindness is my number one pleasure.

I slept for almost 10 hours last night...I have about 5 years of sleep to catch up on.

Our Sydney friends came down yesterday, we went for lunch, which I think was about all I ate...I have enough spare padding so won't fade away but for the first time in my life not much appetite!

Made some essential calls ...45 mins in a queue...I hoovered, I damp dusted, I cleaned kitchen then whilst on hold during the 45 minute call I trimmed my flowers!

Went to see my lovely husband with the kids. Hard but essential. Will go again later in the week.

Paid half my HUGE bill ....oh you don't have to do it today ...yes but I will need to do it by end of week so may as well. Sigh!

Conked out at 6.30pm ...was sent to bed at 8.30pm after repeatedly being told to go but I was just too tired to move!

The story behind the HUGE church like floral display....Sydney friend and OHs boss ordered online what they thought looked like a nice flowery thing....that would be a wreath! Luckily my florist phoned them & said I know M and I don't think that's what you want to be sending and I'm already making something different! I'm going to see her today to order flowers for next week.

Another friend visited on Sunday and I seriously think our wires got mixed up and that she thought she was coming to view OH with me....I tried subtle texts and then had to resort to a blatant NO! Australians are very direct but she is Canadian and I am Scottish and something was picked up wrongly, I had just said we were going and she was like when? Where? Okay I will see you tomorrow. Anyway awful situation diverted!

Today we have the celebrant coming so I should really get dressed for the occasion...as in get dressed! Just showered after making pancakes for kids breakfast.

    Sleep well x

Amen to that, &. Thank you so much for such a moving post, once more, Mhags.
VJsmum, dead chuffed for you that SiLs and BiL saw MiL in true colours. Also "interesting" that she didn't try to hide it, clearly views her behaviour as wholly justified and a norm. Hmmm. Expletive expletive.

Mention of Mother Julian by & has reminded me to put my new - to - me Mother Julian plaque somewhere where I can see it. Possibly in front of the TV as the plaque is only 4" square.

    1. Friend came. Happy, laughter filled chat, magazines and other items rehomed and also

    2. Help. Little awkward for me jobs done in a trice, without asking and with a smile. Friend is well now and can once again instantly see what needs doing and what would most help me. Wahey!
This aspect of her was missing for a long time when she was not well, mentally, and necessarily missing when she was not well physically. I had almost forgotten how helpful she once was, she was ill for so long.

    3. One of the big helps was the aid given with the installation of my new sent - to - review memory foam mattress. Oh, what bliss it will be to sleep on a comfortable surface! My old memory foam mattress had deep divisions in it for some unknown design reason and broke up very easily. I think I bought it in 2010, so it should have perhaps lasted longer but it didn't.

    4. Lovely tea of creamy salmon pasta with a chilli lemon kick.

    5. As well as your pleasures, the lovely paleo bars I was sent to review. One eaten in tiny bites after the first one, and every mouthful savoured.

  • Mind me to check on &’s Spooky men tonight.

5 Was in my tutu last evening and I can tell you now that BoPsie thinks I am getting into shape for the beach, she muttered sweet things like I am a beached whale more like. I ask you, so I have ruffled up my fur in response! Good job the shed has a roof, and I will say no more on the matter for now!

4 And last night BoPsie then invited BoP outside, well we snook off and had a chili and a glass of wobbleade. Nice.

3 Down at mill cashing in.

27 Just heard there is a thanksgiving service for those with gongs and the civil servants for the Gulf War, parts 1 etc. And they never invited the widows!
Mind you when I was inn Jeddah in July 1990, the same place as when the Kuwaiti and Iraqi were discussing Kuwait slant drilling! Some time later in the August, I was told by a local on Al Kharj that they should sort it out between them. Later, at the Emirs pad, it was explained how these fiefdoms work. Should the big gaffer in Riyadh not pay his dues each month, as the occupier of the biggest munitions dump in the area, he would …
    Just right then …

    • I seemed to pass out cold last night, I feel a bit better for it.
    • Roast pork with the very vital crackling, proper stuffing leftover from Xmas Dh made extra on purpose, HM yorkie puds, new pots, carrots and spouts… was delicious:cool:.
    • The daffodils are out! A lot more crocuses are up in the lawn, I got out and planted 3 lots of bulbs in containers, I keep meaning to jet wash the patio but it’s still on the to do list.:o
    • Prepping for interview two at another company tonight.
    • Turned mandarins into 4 pots of marmalade, it’s my first try at marmalade, and I must say Ampersand, you inspired me as I was wondering what to do with them when I read one of your posts that had it simmering away. It seems ok so far just waiting to see if it sets ok, as it seemed to be setting while it was all cooking through.:T
  • Had meeting with the millwright late this afternoon.

Greetings all! Lurches back in - it's been one of those weeks but today has definitely had its moments.

Dear mhags, it is so good to hear you resolutely getting on with things - but please hug Haggis and your splendid offspring from me?.

    OS Pleasures recently
Asked if I'd rather be a lion or a tiger I mused that lionesses do all the work & the males just stroll up & eat, so I'd rather be a tigress & shot for my amazing coat. The stuffed silence had some of my menfolk realising I do the lioness bit anyway...

Son in disgrace - declined a birthday cake confident Nan would provide (rightly) & husband peeved at not getting a share of *two* cakes. However, glorious chocolate cake placated him & satiated the lads.

On the cherry trees, the tight dark buds are beginning to turn pale at the tips. Still too early to get the blanket & saki out for hanami but anticipation is part of the delight.

Fur Elise is thinner soup compared to the Moonlight Sonata but both are rich to the soul. Amazing what a pair of hands and a piano can do.

Waved to the tailor - first time we've been in synch in ages!

The determined rhythm of Feet With Destination tapping down the stairwell - laden, I huddled in a corner & heard a smiling "thank you"!"

Well Done Andy! Nice to see a tennis win.

M'lady mother has a cast & cover & can move like a startled mouse, covering impressive distances at speed. Makes minding her trickier but the lads' flowers have charmed her. We spotted clumps of wild violets, "ah", smiled mum "blue mice" - I thought briefly her meds were stronger than I'd realised, but seemingly it's a Cornish term for them.

Went from line of sight & 'bad feeling about this' to greeted & returned my car key and singing as I drove the last leg home!

"Would you like a tea, mum?" How did he get there from hearing my tired husky voice?!

Cherry blossom buds fattening, thin lines of green visible amongst the defensive purple.

Big meeting at hotel (noted for footballers' infidelities) - so attended all a-goggle, listened & acquired pens as is my exotic-meeting habit. Also had the sparkling mineral water so can say truthfully I swigged fizz there!

"Put your hands over his ears" - eavesdropping leads my imagination wildly astray....

Clearly being That Sort Of Day - second mention of chamomile tea in half an hour from an unrelated source. (Does it Work, or is it the displacement/placebo effect of just paying attention to Something Else?)

Right, away to umpire young men bickering (sadly, offspring.)
All love health strength courage & where appropriate, hwbs & parasols.

    Thanks Ampersand

    Pleasures since yesterday

    1. coffee with friend yesterday afternoon - she let me offload
    2. Did loads of marking, that i just set to and finished today. Decks are clear again - though i have never marked such a pile of junk - but then, i didn't teach them ;):p
    3. leftover roast beef dinner last night (from sunday). Was a bit sprouty, but at least i didn't have to cook - i was on my own as OH and DS had gone to SiL's to have yet another birthday celebration for MiL (who, obviously, was fine - despite assuring me that she wouldn't enjoy it cos "he" (BiL) would be there). I also had left over lemon drizzle with left over raspberries and left over cream - kind of deconstructed trifle. Got brought a slice of birthday cake that i had today
    4. clean sheets
    5. Sorted out DSs final UCAS application - he had missed an email from the said Uni, has now replied and hopefully we will hear soon. Honestly, boys......

Left over cheese board for tea - nothing thrown except possibly half a pot of sourcream and chive dip

Have a great evening all - I am off to get a leftover wine
I wanna be in the room where it happens
