  • 1. Being woken up by the blue tits and finches in my garden this morning. Such a beautiful sound.
    2. Giving up going out for cake and coffee for lent. Popped in to see my dad before food shop and he made us both a coffee and some yummy chocolate biscuits and had a natter. No temptation as I walked past the cafe!

    3. Only spent half my food budget and enough food planned for up to Tuesday, just a chicken and butternut squash to buy for roast dinner on Sunday.

    4. Some lovely blossom on trees, definitely spring in the air.

    5. Looking at ideas to make my daughter's birthday cake for her party on Saturday. She wants my little pony! I'm not the best at baking but it will be made with love and definitely tastes better than shop bought ones.

A rather sudden, “I am in a lot of pain, I am going to need to see a doctor - right now” from DH this afternoon. This from the man who only goes to the doctor once every 4 years! By some miracle, I phoned explained and got an immediate appointment with a genuinely nice doctor who took time. :) As the prescription is strong they had to order it in, but were able to give a dose for today, and pick up the rest tomorrow. He has a hospital apt in 2 weeks.

    • The interview this morning seemed to go well.
    • A soggy day, great for the bulbs I planted out yesterday, pondered about looking at lots of bulbs coming about, but it was too wet to work out there.
    • Feeling a bit CBA during the rest of the day so far, 3 interviews in 3 days has caught up with me so just a bit meh now, so I dug out Wii Rabbids go home, I wasn’t even sure it would work as we haven’t used it in year’s what a giggle.
    • Dinner will be chicken and brown rice.
    • Both DH and I have been on a diet for the past 6 weeks, as he was weighed at the docs I realised he has lost over a stone! So I also weighed in and between us we have lost just over 2 stone so far, we still have weight to go but feels good to know it’s working. Who am I kidding I am dead chuffed I have been doing a lot of reading up.:j

Clearly the day for lost posts. Painstakingly typed in post done on iPhone to Manchester disappeared into the ether. So I have read all your posts but going straight into today's 5.
    1) nice pizza for 300 rupees at Colombo airport
    2) flights fine and probably would have been ok for flight injection but instead
    3) went for train. First class so lots of leg room and free tea / coffee
    4) mr piano picked me up from the train station.
    5) mum came round with the boys. They'd stayed t hers cos mr piano had a nasty virile chest infection.
So now, 29 hours after I left my hosts in Sri Lanka, I'm in my bed with the boys, a mug of tea and the archers. Lovely to go away but lovely to be home

& We are seeing Spooky Men indeed. They are on at Bury Met in April and we have tickets :T :)

Purple Kitten - fingers crossed for you interview wise. Do hope DH's pain has eased.

One main pleasure but it is huge and it is today's.
    1. The main pleasure is Anticipation bcause . . .
    2. I am going to Haworth with a friend to see the Bronte museum.
    3. Tea will be drunk.
    4. Lunch will be eaten in a local hostelry and there will be NO washing up!!
    5. There will be scenery, and atmosphere, and hills. And probably a lot of rain, but that will just add to the bleakness of the atmosphere at the house :)

Morning from a train to Wales. Meeting a roofer this pm about repairs - I know how to live.

PK - hope OH is ok.
DD - welcome back, hope the jetlag is kind

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Marking collected and feedback uploaded - I should now have earned enough to pay for a conference in September, which was the point. just got to write the blessed paper now
    2. Photobooks we spent considerable time doing last week have arrived, they are lovely
    3. Got cracking on my methodology chapter, that i am procrastinating from right now. But at least i know where it's going now.
    4. Dinner out with OH, 3 delicious courses for £18, I had pasta with a tomatoey veggie sauce thing, baked salmon in a white wine cream sauce and tiramisu. Came home with a food baby :o
    5. DS drove to a concert 30 miles away with his mate. He got home safely despite the car playing up. THe little car he drives is 15 years old but only done 40000 miles - however, I think it's suffering from shock of being used.

A pleasure for today is that Arriva trains Wales has free Wifi :T

    Have a lovely day everybody
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Small collection:
    1. The joy of my new mattress - and a washable cover that will be easier to fit as the mattress is much thinner. Swinging swollen end of day legs in to bed much easier.

    2. Cycling on my shopping trip - it was windy and this was a pain heading in to town , but it was not raining. For once.

    3. Strapping my walker relatively easily to the trike so I can walk round shops that pose a challenge. Poundworld being one.
I did biff bollards and one of those road safety barrier chicane things with the overhang of the walker off the luggage box of the trike. Walker is robust enough to have shrugged it off.
    Different route next time!

    4. Poundworld bargains.... I look for brands chiefly and try to ignore the usual pound store things.

    5. (Said in Very Small Voice) However I may have succumbed to yet more microwave cookware and a Minions mug. In my defence the cookware was exactly what I needed , a largeish soup-casserole- whatever bowl with handle and vented lid. It is bright fuschia pink and I mean bright, but who cares, for a quid?
I have no defence for the Minions mug, except, well, ...... Minions ...

Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Good morning it's Friday...noisy bin lorry woke me up.

    Thursday started with :
a quick call to one SIL

Quick catch up at local cafe with good friend , very early , which actually suited me. Had an unusual for me peppermint tea. She brought a box of her special biscuits she made.

Tidied up front porch , removed dead plants and planted some new autumn pansies. Cleaned outside of front room window ( having done inside day before) ...I must say what a dramatic difference...they must have been filthy before! De cobwebbed yet again...a never ending battle of wills!

Went to see my OH, got some photos developed from our early anniversary party, we had been given a lovely photo frame as a gift. Quick lunch with DD1 and leftovers brought home. DS ate mine and DD1 had hers for tea.

Quick nip into supermarket...first in weeks and weeks , I'd been doing online shopping . Only bought fruit and veg and milk ...and a RTC cheesecake may have been purchased.

Home....36o so languished in heat. Got as far as emptying the box of stuff that came from OH's car that had been sitting on breakfast bar ( aka dumping ground for past week....enough!) then I just languished. With the occasional moan and groan about how hot it was....more of the same for the next week! It's autumn! Cool down a bit please!

Had to make a call after having sent 2 emails regarding a policy that had a death benefit for OH. Emailed last Thursday, re-emailed Tuesday. Then have to call? Oh yes it was all being dealt with but an acknowledgment email after the first would have been nice. This will cover funeral expenses...I don't think I should have to be chasing it up! Anyway...resolved!

My gardener comes today...have asked him to cut the nature strips out front which take ages as we are on such a big corner. I will get the back done over the weekend. I will use him as long as I can afford to!

Right, today is another day ( another day of heat!) so shall be busy in the morning whilst it's a bit cooler. Back to undertakers to check photos and music are in sync with their system. DD2 comes back from camp later...think she's struggled, if her texts are anything to go by.
