    3. Some nice low cost treats from the freezer shop - Heron. VickyA, I wonder what it is that you can't get from your Aldi? I use Tesco for Lea & Perrins, coffee whitener, powdered milk, Yorkshire Tea and tall bin bags. Everything else is Heron Foods or Aldi. Mostly Aldi.

I suppose I need to have time to attempt a "big shop" in Aldi. However, I started to get stressed last night that some of the things I've had before were out of stock. The yoghurts are hit and miss as to whether they have the "right" ones in. I shall attempt it again!

I mostly use Aldi - I buy crisps, ketchup, squash for DS (when he is lucky, he likes Rocks organic), eco washing up and washing liquid, fish fingers, Rooisbos tea, heinz beans and a few other bits from one of the big supermarkets purely because i don't like the Aldi versions and / or they don't stock it.

Well they promised rain and it's just arrived 21:41. I had taken my brolly - don't think it would have coped wit the deluge. Glad i'm in my hotel room.
    1) If i say so myself keynote was good stuff. There was a real buzz which makes me very happy - I take a lot of time preparing keynotes as the host pays my travel and accommodation. So i'm pleased it seemed to hit the spot.
    2) they gave me an ultra thin external battery as a thank you.
    3) some good talks today, got me thinking
    4) had a snooze when i got back to the hotel - my host has been very good at building in rest time for me
    5) have finally sorted files on my mac. rather peeved when it lost one file due to 'lack of memory' - was a final look over a masters dissertation. fortunately i could remember my 2 comments so now done again
oof that was some flash of lightening. checking out tomorrow and heading for the hills. probs won't have wifi again till sunday. have a good weekend everyone (and haggis look after our mhags xxx)

Are you going to Kandy DD? I took a train ride there, stunning ride and stunning place. I really wanted to visit a tea plantation, but just didn't have time. SL is on my list for a holiday though...

Hello, it's Saturday morning, sun is shining to be another hottie....this will dry the immense piles of washing that my lovely new machine has been washing!

    Friday was busy.

We had an appointment with Funeral Director at 10am , had planned to walk but not everyone was ready quite in time so we all piled into my wee car. It was a difficult situation made easier by the lovely lady we dealt with.
Bizarre choosing a coffin like browsing for a pair of shoes. It will take place on the 14th March. DD2 has a school camp/ retreat on Wednesday to Friday and I wasn't ready to do it this Tuesday coming. The following Monday is a public holiday so the next Tuesday it was. Gives me time.

I was then , with a date in hand , able to finalise the date for a funeral service at our church back home, both will be a celebration of his life.

It was DD2 birthday ...funeral directors got her a cake!

She was sick so had to go to GP ! She has a chest infection so antibiotics for her birthday, took all OHs meds back to pharmacy as I was going anyway. Would have done it next week but there was strong stuff I didn't want hanging around.

Dropped 2 bags of clothes from son in to Salvos.

Our oncologist called so had a nice chat with him. He said he had enjoyed working with us both, we had made it fun, then said is fun the right word and then yes fun was the right word. We enjoyed him too and we're glad he was working with us. He also said he felt we had made the right decisions of when to start and when to stop treatments.

Hello new washing machine! What a joy! Old one taken away and new one fitted in and a nice delivery man too....with a stronger grip than I had to undo hose pipe!

Flowers, flowers and flowers. The hugest ( like something you would put in a church for a wedding!) display ever which is now filling up my fireplace, it's a slightly older lady who delivers for our local florist and she was slightly bowed down by the weight! Massive! But beautiful. From OHs Australian colleagues and a beautiful vase filled with all different White flowers from his UK colleagues. I've had to put aircon on to keep them cool!

Texts, messages, emails, phone calls. Offering love, offering support. All appreciated.

Another decent sleep. 7 hours straight. Thank you! It's been a long , long time since I've slept a whole night through.

Today is a new day. No plans, no appointments....other than with the washing line!

Quick pleasures for today (Friday) as I am tired. Just had a conversation with bigger son (who is in bed) and did not realise he was asleep until he broke off from talking to me to start swatting at non existent "cobwebs" above him!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) A sneaky MCDs breakfast. Leading to...

...2) Early meeting at smaller son's school that set up his statement for SEN for another year. They're very pleased with him and he doesn't have to follow the alternative curriculum but will do 9 GCSEs (!)

    3) Bigger son went for a college interview and feels happier with this course.

    4) Back to work which went smoothly enough. Was observed during the afternoon. I am never really sure whether the colleague observing likes me :-/ She certainly didn't speak to me or make eye contact at all and strode off at the end!

    5) Made broccoli cheese for tea. Then we had 3 pancakes left from Tuesday.

    6) Smaller son went to football practice.

    7) Watched the Last Leg.

    8) Will listen to the News Quiz just now.

Feeling a bit tense as yesterday was the deadline for applications for Super Job and have not heard anything yet...

    Oooo, nearly forgot!

    9) Have mentioned lots of times over last few years to my neighbours that their fir tree is over twice the height of my house (and is about 5 metres from it). We get some cracking storms as we are very high between 2 well known sets of hills. Anyway, saw her outside and after the usual septic tank chat, she said she is going to get the top of the tree lopped off - hoorah! The even more enormous Eucalyptus at the bottom of her garden is also going (shortened or felled completely, she didn't say) but that doesn't make such a difference to us.

Busy weekend coming up with housework and I need a pair of shoes as my work shoes disintegrated today. I only own one pair of shoes so must get to it.

I am encountering some very complex issues regarding DF’s property - he purchased it as a new build back in the early 1950’s and prior to land registry. His solicitors have been taken over and have officially “misplaced” his deeds. And thus creates a significant problem that can only be sorted by me engaging new competent solicit£rs.

1.A few very promising pipeline things that may turn into work.

2.Nightmareish visit to DF, I asked outright about the deeds I knew it was a bad idea and he was vacant, I sat in the floor going through 30 years of his paperwork hoping for a copy but nowt, pleasure being I am glad we went the new carers, touch wood seem very good.:o

3.I have resorted to treble chocolate, with additional chocolate brownie in ice cream and it feels fab.:rotfl:

4.Laughing to the last leg, always feels a bit wrong...

    5. Some geraniums from Lidl to plant out tomorrow.

MHags sounds like the new washing machine will lighten the load so to speak. I find there is something reassuring and therapeutic in everyday chores and a good nights sleep always helps.x

Frith - I am keeping everything crossed for you re super job

PK - I find chocolate always helps !

    1. remembered my brolly useful in pouring rain

    2. long chat with DP's and thankful that DF is feeling more like normal now his GP has settled on a medication for his anxiety/panic attacks. Very disconcerting for a 75 yo normally fit and healthy man to suddenly have these onset with no worries to speak of.

    3. Text messages and chats with various friends arranging socialising for March. Budgeting is going well and I feel more in control of my money. Its a tight budget but do-able and am coming up with ways to see friends and not spend too much money

4 gammon jacket potato and cauli cheese for dinner nom nom

    5 its the weekend l:j
