Waves over to Tasmania:T
Not a pleasure per se, I received the gas and leccy bill this morning and it turns out to be correct. Turns out our new financial priority (when earning) is to get the boiler fitted as we have the boiler here, just sitting in the hallway.
1. I am ridiculously happy with how well the lasagne turned out and enough for today’s dinner meals as well, very chuffed and big compliments from DH.
2. Clean bedding put on for us, that clean bedding feeling later.
3. 2 bin bags full of clothes clearing for the clothes bank.
4. DH decided he was feeling well enough to be up to fitting in our new to us sink in the bathroom, however there are numerous problems, he is caving for the evening I hope, and at least we have running hot water over the bath but the whole of the bathroom is on the landing at the moment.:o
5. Remembered to take the food out of the freezer for the next 2 days food planning….:rotfl:0 -
Quick pleasures for this evening as I am tired now.
1) Not a bad sleep
2) Work went OK. Spent the morning invigilating and glazing some pottery.
3) Tidied up and even cleaned a few windows.
4) Had the fire going nicely (still is!) so cosy in the living room.
5) Smaller son is very excited because his group of friends have invited him to meet up with them on Saturday, go to McDs then go to our local football ground to watch a match!!!! He has only ever been to play with 2 other boys ever.
6) Watched the Undateables then First Dates Hotel.0 -
Lainey hugs. Thinking of you.
1. Had a good weekend away. Food was very good and cheaper than it could have been. We choose restaurants well and didn't have lunch.
2. Saw the sights mainly from the outside! DS2 did go up the arc d'triompe as it was free for under 26's.
DH and I stayed at the bottom and people watched.
3. Saw an incredible amount of riot police but no trouble any where. One reason they were there was for the woman's March.
4. Rugby wasn't good and the start was delayed by 95 minutes as the pitch was frozen. I think they could have done something about it prior to kick off.
5. It was a cold weekend but sunny so we were out walking for most of the time.0 -
Morning all
have a lovely time Mr and Mrs Mhags...
Ah, Villagelife, i love Paris. Going there myself in a couple of weeks and then again in March - for the France V Wales Rugby. I've never been to rugby before but it's DS's 18th birthday trip.
Pleasures over the weekend and yesterday
1. Got the house back together after the decorating. (well, except the conservatory - we won't talk about the conservatory)
2. had friends over for dinner on Saturday. Other friends were supposed to be coming but cancelled fairly last minute as the husband has just been diagnosed (i.e. the day before) with prostate cancer. !!!!!! - it's the third one we've heard of in a very short space of time
3. over to other friends on sunday for a lovely walk and then dinner (one of that couple also recently diagnosed).
4. home fairly early, call the midwife and the somewhat bizarre Apple Tree yard. Cheese and biscuits and the last of the previous night's port. yum.
5. A good work day yesterday, interspersed with lunch at emaness. Left over roast beef dinner from saturday pinged in the mike for me. OH and DS went out to MiL's.
Have a goodun allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Some pleasures for yesterday,
Spent the morning on the phone advising various institutions about DM, reactions were mixed, script condolences I could do without but the odd genuine one was well received, pleasure was in finishing.
HM mushroom soup and seeded bagel for lunch.
Catching up on Father Brown and sofa snoozing in the afternoon.
Late afternoon walk with the girls.
Reading in bed, enjoying Mr Springsteen's autubio.0 -
Pleasures for last few days
1. Sunday warmed up nicely so I went for a walk round the local pond. Despite being rather large the majority of the pond is frozen but the edges were beginning to melt. Funny to see the birds skating across the top of the ice
2. Monday morning was freezing fog which was still lingering this morning. Glad there wasn't many cars around locally at 6am on Monday when I went to work as the side roads were not gritted & the road was white  Not so bad today and now the fog has all burnt off.
3. sunny afternoon with blue skies - hardly summer temperatures but still got some washing out on the line
4. received my final bill from old gas/elec supplier and I only owe £14. The meter reading for electric which I gave the new supplier wasn't used though and so the old supplier used an estimate and charged me slightly more - I wasn't very happy about this and phoned the new supplier who immediately gave me a credit on my bill to compensate for the difference !
5. cleaned the kitchen and managed to find the energy to scrub the kitchen floor. Always a chore with a bad back and painful hands but am glad its done.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗
House purchase completed FEB 2023 🥳🍾 Left work. 🤗
Retired at 55 & now living off the equity £10k a year (until pensions start at 60 & 67).

Good morning from a bright but blustery Hobart. Sun is shining, Sky is bright blue but it's blowing a hoolie!
It's Burns day , so Happy Burns Day. Not sure what scottish delicacy we can find out here to celebrate.
My MIL is very , very poorly. We are just waiting really, which is hard being even further away than usual. As we are not with kids. But my SIL is with her as are my niece and nephew. We have been messaging back and forth so I'm grateful for modern technology.
We are over here for a particular purpose which I will divulge at a later date. Not really a holiday. Yesterday we found some stunning beaches and then some more stunning beaches. OH is very tired , (which he would be at home) so it's nice to have a base to return to . We are only really out for a few hours as that's all he can manage. Which is fine. I'm happy to potter around someone else's appartment as I would my own home
The mountain is bathed in sunshine this morning. After I'd posted yesterday the sun came out and I saw a huge rainbow over the mountain.
Lainey I feel your frustration re phone calls. I've had a few to make , usually to financial institutions, and the response seems unkind at times. I had to repeat my husband has terminal cancer 3 times to a young lad ( and the policy was a terminal illness one, so not an unfamiliar term) and ended up having to say my husband is dying of cancer and feeling terrible for saying that but it was the only words he seemed to understand....this was after we had already established why I was calling and he had already muttered sorry. Then you get another muttering of I'm sorry and I usualy say it's okay! It's an already difficult situation that doesn't need to be made harder. At least you are dealing with it and hopefully once it's done its done.0 -
A funny old day today. Here are my pleasures:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Work came and went. Vile atmosphere, waiting to be made redundant.
3) Went to see my school friend for a cup of tea after work.
4) Back on healthy eating after a rather cakey day yesterday.
5) Smaller son still looking forward to his Saturday of socialising.
Then, post tea, things went a little pear shaped. Smaller son returned from his father's (had been for tea) without bigger son. No sign of bigger son, he had vanished somewhere after school. Father annoyed.
Phoned bigger son who was in town (so 8 miles away). Picked him up from mysterious other boy's house, through a fug of fish and chip and vaping smoke :0
Got him home and some stupid t1t has shaved not only his sideburns off, but up over his ears! He looks like Cletus off the Simpsons!
Smaller son said their father is "not letting him go out again when it's HIS time" (he always expects them to stay the whole time they are supposed to and not have a social life during what he insists are "his" hours). So now bigger son is not going again at all.
Happy days.
Barbers tomorrow to see if they can magically blend in the bald sides into the rest of his hair. He said "Shall I trim off round the back to match?" and smaller son and I said in unison, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO"!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
frith oh dear! I've just had to Google Cletus!
It's hair it will grow!0 -
