I know it's early but already for today
    1) the dogs slept in. No crying at 6:30, no protest wee (or worse) if I don't get down in response to the cry. They slept till 10 (!). Why? Because for the last 2 days I have let them sleep in my bedroom (cos my knee ain't rushing anywhere). didn't post it yesterday in case a one off. xoh phoned yesterday and said oh yes they slept in when i let them stay in my room. herumph that must have been when i was away, cos xoh refused to have them upstairs. Most definitely x!!!
    2) went for very slow walk with dogs up to post box. Not a great distance but quite a hill. Longest walk for a week!
    3) going to pop some pork and veg into the slow cooker. my first cooking for a week :D
    4) then a relaxing bath while the smell of nice cooking pervades the house
    5) listening to the Archers omnibus so I can hear the final curtain on Rob's employment in Ambridge (we're just up to bridezilla)

One of the toughest weeks of my life since the passing of my darling maman so pleasures doubly important,

Firstly and most importantly the kindness of all those involved in DM's care, she was treated with incredible tenderness and respect at all times, the family will be eternally grateful.

Incredible intuition of my animals, their silent attentiveness is worth a thousand words.

Goes without saying the love and support of my darling Capt S.

Several crispy, cold frosty days meant mind-clearing walks and managed to spot numerous green shoots, slightly lighter evenings as well.

Hot ribena, a childhood treat recently restored.

Cheeky chinese takeaway on Friday night after particularly difficult meeting in the afternoon.

Watching a family of field mice who obviously have taken up residence in the composting grass cuttings, have explained the necessity of not entering the house!
  • I know, but when I read DD post my thought was Queen of Sheba! :heartpuls to the needy.

5 Slipped the pink tutu over the six pack this morning and firmed it up. Is a but too much for BoPsie! Shaved and claws pruned. Edges remain ruff.

4 Got shopping inn. Mackerel kedgeree this day with proper peas, mushed. More later. Had cup of tea without a Jaffa cake, had chocolate one instead. Proper foods!

3 Watching the cricket. Batting good. Bowling ...

2 Night could be a film Nite.

    In off that one!
  • I had a nasty fall in the middle of the night and have a bad concussion along with raccoon eyes and a laceration that has been glued back together. So I'm reading your posts but not posting... hard to concentrate.

Many tender thoughts for you mhagster.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

  • Poor MILA hope you feel better very quickly but until you do leave the world to do its own thing, all the jobs will still be there when you feel up to doing them!

    1) The low cal hot chocolate drink He Who Knows just made to warm me up, it's chilly here and I'm not feeling 100% with my cough.

    2) Walking Cookie in the sun this afternoon I could almost convince myself that spring was on its way until I got into the shade when I knew it definitely wasn't!

    3) A whole drift of early daffodils all out on one of the grassy areas along the footpath, perfect!

    4) A blackbird singing his heart out as we got up to make tea this morning, he was sitting in my neighbours rowan tree and pouring his little heart into his song, beautiful!

    5) The fact that my oldest step sister who has been very poorly in hospital with pneumonia seems today to have turned a corner and is able to sit up and talk and has been able to eat something. Let's hope this IS the turning point, her mum is going to feel better if that's so!

Lainey, Great to see you posting, be kind to yourself in the inbetween time.
Mhags, glad you are safe and sound.
Mrs LW, A very happy birthday.:bdaycake:

I’ve missed a few days, it’s been a lovely relaxing and frugal weekend.

A bacon “butty” for brunch <Skint> I had to think about it, but my ideal one is grilled slightly crispy bacon, with grilled tomatoes a little lettuce and mayo, I don’t mind which bread or roll as long as it’s fresh.
    • A frugal weekend, NSD, NPD and hanging all the washing about.:o
    • I took things out of the freezer for food planning this weekend, some plain chicken to make hunters chicken, dh’s favourite with turmeric rice, and snaffled some Smartie cookies out of the freezer and tonight will be my first ever HM Lasagne with salad, or mush on a plate depending on how it turns out. :rotfl:
    • Today is the first day I have felt truly better since my flair, it’s a relief.
    • I am looking forward to next week, and hopefully some final stage interviews, 1 completed the first stages for 3 last week.

    Good evening everyone :hello:

    mhags - enjoy Tasmania!

    Hope that MrPK stays fixed.

    Happy birthday to Mrs LW

Get well soon to all those who are poorly. My DH has had a horrid horrid cold, which has seen him in bed all weekend.

I've just started a course of CBT - incredibly low self-esteem and almost no confidence. As part of this, I reckon that thinking about the OS pleasures should be more of a routine than it has been recently.

So, pleasures for the past few days:

    1) Read my book. I hadn't read for ages, but I've deleted a time-zapping app from my tablet so more time for this!

    2) A couple of NPDs.

    3) Making a shopping list and sticking to it! I know! Revolutionary!

    4) Baked some biscuits for my baking club tomorrow.

    5) Chatting to my Canadian cousin via Skype. Love it!

    2) Parents' for dinner then a game of Scrabble.

    3) Made a better path down the side of the hens' run (very muddy), with weed proof membrane covered in bark chippings. That will be a surprise for bigger son when he goes to feed them in the morning.

    4) Plenty of washing and tidying done.

    5) Smaller son wanted to test the oven out so made a sponge cake.

Good morning from Hobart, Tasmania. Where it is blowing a gale and has been lashed with rain! But I optimitically can see the sun reflecting on the building opposite ...I have sandals....that is all!

Early morning flight over yesterday. Picked up hire car. Drove around here and there and then checked in to our airbnb appartment. Which is an old victorian building fairly near the city centre.

I have views of Mount Wellington from where I'm sitting , it's looking a bit foreboding in this weather....sun hasn't started to shine up there yet! It's all cloudy.

We surprised our Tassie friends last night. Sent a text to see if they were in and they didn't believe we were actually here! So went and visited for about an hour and half. Had some doggy time with their little Westie. We are so used to a big dog!

I need to start feeding the parking meter at 8.30am....that will be going in my review! If we had known we would have had coins . Stopped at a petrol station last night and was kindly given coins instead of notes.

    Have a good evening
