A few days away from here because of work.
    My 5 pleasures for today
    1) had a shorter day at work than was previously planned, still 10 hours but meant I got to come home at 7, dinner with DP and a film
    2) went to Sainsbury's after work last night and managed to get some YS boiled eggs from the salad bar which I munched on at work today. Keeps me from eating things not good for me.
    3) day off tomorrow, will try to do some more uni work, and maybe go for a swim
    4) bidding is closing on something I'm trying to get dd for Christmas. Fingers crossed I can get a good deal and win!

    Quick pleasures for today:

    1) A bit of a lie in.

    2) Cleaned!

    3) Listened to the Archers.

    4) Went down to see the hens, listening to Leonard Cohen on the new phone.

    5) Worked on my Sinter Klaas poem (eagle eyed readers may remember that each year, the extended family draws one name and we have £5 to spend. The packaging and poem or quiz, or whatever are more important than the present).

    6) Enjoyed watching David Attenborough's series again and also I'm a Celebrity.

From town of horse, high gallops, since &utah in time-dragging sulks.

    1. Contact made with NZ. Aunt and cousin slept through first 2 biggies. Tremors are jelly jolt'n'wobble continuous ever since, even as we spoke.

    2. A good £10 refund gesture AND retain original item was very fair today.

    3. Radio3 & France Inter offering & most No Trumps.

    4. DG for fenboys, yet again - only £30 for 2 tyres, fitting, balancing and other fiddling.

    5. Agree re: rugby, Mrslw. Some great time Saturday in the Alma. & unsure that AB's 68-10 over azzurri was quite the test needed for Ireland rtn match in Dub this weekend. On verra.

  • 1) We've just had Maisie dog stay with us for about an hour and a half and she didn't go and hide, and she did come to see me for some bikkits and she does like the television, wonderful start to what I hope will be a long term friendship!

    2) DD1 has asked me to go to Berlin with her at Easter next year to try out some alternative venues for her next school trip with the pupils, OH YES!!!

    3) Bratwurst for tea, sere Deutsch!

    4) Discovery of some 89 calorie chocolate mousses has made a small light in my diet gloom.

    5) Discovering from a friend that the Doctor I saw is very unpopular and no one goes back twice, maybe it's NOT just me after all!

Good morning from Tuesday, I woke up earlier and went out to see if I could see the super moon, it may have been bigger and brighter earlier but was just a full moon. Anyway, Haggis had a quick wee and an earlier than normal breakfast and having just been out again 3 hours later was disappointed when he didn't get his breakfast. He followed me all around , excited and anticipating food! Sorry Hag !

I am on day 2 of labyrinthitis , which was a disappointment yesterday when I woke up and the room was spinning. Finally allowed to drive and I couldn't as too dizzy. Spent most of day feeling sorry for myself but hoping to get a bit more done today as less dizzy. First day is always the worst.

Had a disappointing letter from Centrelink stating I wasn't eligible for carers allowance ....after a 45 minute phone queue ( after 102 attempts to get into a queue and that is not an exaggeration) ( which was after I had burst in to very dizzy tears , it's absolutely not about the money but the principle ) spoke to someone who couldn't understand either then she spoke to someone else ....so more listening to music ....and it seems that OH wasn't terminally ill enough. That really upset me . So more forms will be sent out to be refilled , we will have to ask our busy oncologist to refill his part and wait and see again, OHs condition has gone down since we filled out the first form . Bloody bureaucracy ! As far as we were aware and had been told if you have a terminal diagnosis you are eligible, I don't think people bandy about these diagnoses on a whim. Rant over. Nothing I can do but reapply. Maybe it's standard to turn down applications , I'm lucky in that I've never had to apply for anything before .

    So, pleasures.
Much rain ....suited my mood and is much needed in the garden.

Had made a chicken pie on Sunday and a cottage pie for Monday and I was ever so glad I had .

I've been asked to continue doing laundry for work and as it's an extra $30 for minimal effort I shall....for now.

I cleaned fridge on Sunday and emptied freezer. chucked a few scary looking unidentifiable items out that were covered in ice, the plastic had cracked and I just had no idea. They would all have been boxed up leftovers at some point, anyway nice clean tidy freezer...to refill!

Found some frozen mashed banana so made 2 banana and cranberry loaves .

Cleaned food cupboard ( tins and packets) , someone had not closed syrup properly and it was all sticky.

Did all this with a schmaltzy Christmas movie on...happy ending!

Nice chats with friend and SIL.

DD1 who is a clutter bug has been slowly de cluttering ...I mentioned Kon Mari to her ( I follow the thread ) and she said yes! That's what I've been doing! Good on you girl! She still has a long way to go!

DD2 about to head out for day 3 of exams , will be glad when we get to Friday!

Do have a lovely Tuesday ...hopefully your moon is super if you can see it through the clouds!

Sorry to hear about your form filling/re-filling problems, MHags.

    Quick pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep but I was woken by a dream about something crashing to the floor. Woke up and had to investigate around the bedroom, but nothing had moved. I had a recurring dream for a year or so that someone knocked really hard on the front door. I would always wake up and look out of the window - most unnerving.

    2) Work came and went.

    3) Went to see my school friend in town after work. Got bits needed whilst out - 2 new knives (eating ones, not cutty ones, don't know where they all go!), tea towels and a plunger. Also a new duvet cover for smaller son with the solar system on that is luminous, which has proved popular.

    4) Popped in to Renault whilst in town and the lady in there and I had a good laugh when she quoted the car for a service - £1000 !!!!
So it will go on the diagnostic thing to stop the air bag warning light coming on and I shall change the oil personally.

    5) Smaller son had a good day at school. I can't remember what happened to the person he was supposed to have, but he got his favourite TA (we always bump into her in Sainsburys) and got to play Pok!mon. His new IEP (special needs plan) has been emailed to me so that'll be some jolly reading in a minute.

    6) Bigger son keeps setting the traps around the chickens and caught FIVE RATS today. That is 23 in total :-/

    7) Enjoyed watching I'm a Celebrity with sons.

    8) My Christmas present from my brother is going to be a tonne of logs - he cut them up today.

Popping in with today's pleasures. Then off to catch up on the thread and the board.
    1. Long lay in, turned my alarm off and let myself sleep. Was lovely if not guilt inducing, but it's my day off so why not?
    2. More uni work tackled, it's very slow progress with my report writing. I'm not naturally academic and it's a struggle to make sure I'm on the right track with my essays.
    3. Swimming with DP and dd again this evening. Good exercise for me and good to see dd and DP get more confident in the water.
    4. Watched Krampus tonight with DP. It did amuse me, and I actually quite enjoyed it. Though I've decided it will be a few years yet before dd will be allowed to watch it, stuff of nightmares for kids.
    5. Suddenly remembered that I need to make my Christmas puddings soon. Ordered some foil Christmas pudding dishes from Amazon for a few pounds so I can make some for family as well as us.

Meeting tomorrow which hopefully means a relaxed day of work. I do like meetings!
I hope everyone has a good Tuesday and I'll pop back tomorrow evening.
