    Good morning everyone :hello:

mhags - I hope you're on the mend.
DD - my sincere condolences to you.
DfV - so sorry to hear about your uncle.

Well, what a bizarre week. Not the best work-wise, but thank goodness for the weekend to refocus.

    Pleasures:

    1) The NHS and our local minor injuries unit. Yesterday I arrived home from supermarket shopping to find DH clutching a blood stained tea towel. He'd cut himself, accidentally, whilst trying to make pumpkin chutney with our giant (19kg!) pumpkin. Anyway, a bandage was not ample so we scooted off to the (empty) minor injuries unit. Seen immediately and he now has a *genuine* bandage so go with his wounded pride.

    2) Before cutting a chunk out of his finger, he managed to get a large vat of pumpkin soup. ;) All blood free and now in the freezer.

    3) Been meal planning like crazy, having slipped off the meal planning wagon for a while, and it's having a REALLY positive effect on our bank balance.

    4) Watching Michael Buble at the BBC on iPlayer. What an amazing voice, but so sad to hear about his poorly son.

    5) Singing. Good for the soul. I've joined a local Rock Choir and it's such good fun! Love it.

Right, off to sort myself out for the day. DH is still feeling sorry for himself but the cat couldn't give two hoots. :D

5 Was out on the owl run last night while everyone celebrated the Birthday of BoP! I saw them for free as well. Then herded off to local eatery and had smoked salmon starter and steak, fillet. Off piste with grilled toms and bits of all. Finished off with a decent tart, bakewell version with proper jam! Tum was rubbed. Ales of wobble were purchased and consumed!

4 Looked for BoPsie's xmas do in local top hotel. We were going to stay over, so BoP checked the menu. it is carp. We have become a nation of burger and cheese on toast eaters! I am not going to pay £23 for a second rate carp loin steak. Please note BoP saild loin, not the knighted version. If you are going to eat steak, none other than fillet will please BoP. So we are not staying over and pennies shall remain in the wallet of BoP!

3 Was out this morning, late, after a snorker and best back, mushroom, poached egg, we had an air burst this morning, and the usual wrappings New jar of proper Raspberry jam was opened as well. Well I was out, and got a tad fed up with all the pre ordained foods. They had prawns on offer, but they had been smothered in lime and coriander. No No No No No No No No No! What a waste. I will flavour my food. Nearly gave up on dinner, and BoPsie is quite particular with her offerings as well. So there. Had to get an expensive piece of salmon. Raffles has been excluded from the kitchen. Apron is on! Homemade sauce of parsley is brewing! All will be served soon with 21 day aged !!!! of spot, mwith lumpy custard as well! Rubbing tum at the thought of it. I drove pass the local emporium of waste, T and thought about their latest mailing! They remarked that we could double our voucher. Problem is, we are £3.50 short from being able to do so! Never mind, but I am sure we will find something to the value of £1.50!

2 Night me and BoPsie will snoggle up together on the sofa. Tootsie will be warmed as I will not freze at this time of year!

We came here simply, we leave here simply!

Evening! I don't post much but lurk and have done for years!
Old style pleasures for me today:

    1) last day of holiday from work, made the most of it seeing DD and taking her to the local fireworks tonight (free!)
    2) was going to go to a good local park on the bikes but the rain decided to put an end to that idea so we had a 'mini cinema' afternoon watching movies on my laptop (it has now tv with the cinema in there) eating popcorn and sweets.
    3) lunch was made up from stuff I found at my parent's house from some things I'd taken there for storage after moving (none perishables) so using up things from storage and not spending :)
    4) had some new tops delivered from eBay yesterday for work, cost less than £9 for them which is less than charity shops in the area.

    Don't have a 5th for now but that's not a bad start.

    3) walked dd2 down to train station. Mr piano and 3 dogs -40 mins walk each way
    4) standing on mr t footbridge as dd2's train went under
    5) Apple crumble and now in bed with mr carter and his mummy (well tutankamun's mummy)

I appear to still be in a twilight zone that has involved meetings/phone calls with the school head, deputy, head of year. Meetings remain for bigger son (he's already had 2) with his head of year again and the police.

On the upside, he's found a post 16 course that has actually caught his interest and is based at a college some distance away where none of the other silly boys is headed. He's throwing himself into family type pursuits, hens, helping out which is nice but also a bit sad.

    Pleasures over the weekend:

    1) 2 lie ins!

    2) Went to see Dr Strange at the cinema yesterday.

    3) My brother came round and smaller son made a pizza and bigger son did the potatoes to go with it.

    4) Watched Casualty.

    5) Went to large garden centre locally and smaller son is now obsessed with turtles! (The tiny sort that we used to call terrapins). So it looks like 2 will be his Christmas presents and he has spent all afternoon researching them.

    6) Phoned my school friend.

    7) Sons went out to role playing evening with my brother and brother in law tonight.

    8) Tidied up a bit.

    9) Watched Humans.

    10) Hens well and so many eggs that we gave 10 to sister and brother in law, boiled 6 for sandwiches tomorrow and still have 4 left!

    &pology - see &thanks have self-removed again and aren't sticking back.

    1. bop's special b'day pressie - All Blacks served up on a plate. No-one could deny a wonderful Irish victory, for Anthony Foley also, but odd and obvious absence of form from first moment - and Retallick and/or Whitelock - noticeably took things down. Given Joe !!!!!!!'s[mods - what's wrong with s-c-h-m-i-d-t?]teaching career [English and P.E.]began where &'s grand-père was pre- WWI Captain[ Palmerston North Boys' High]this is also OK. A good time to lose one [in World Cup 2019 cycle] as bop gains one :-) All decent and fine at The Alma. Could be interesting in Paris, esp. after Dublin rtn match in a quinzaine.

    2. Early out today in freezing dry, grateful for sheepy layers, feet and coat. Topped up essential pikestaff supplies by 4[sons of dfv alert], among a few other bits. They're good 'uns, longer than & is tall.

    3. Grateful for church heating later as sun was replaced by extreme cold and dark surges of icy rain for rest of day. During MP, really felt warm lower, chilled upper contrast as skies outside clouded slate and blotted light.

    4. Andy's victory. Very, very Well Done! Not to overdo the schadenfreude, but any loss by djokovic is unmourned by &.

    5. Best for last:-))) - a totally unexpected surprise parcel. Thankyou so much - ykwya:-) Couldn't be more appropriate right now, à propos of which, dfv, agree on-

Frith - all will be well. Truly! Take Barbara's return to form as your parallel:D
DWhite - lovely to welcome you here, lurking, posting, any old how:), every time. Call that your no.5.
Skint - antibiotics, let us praise them. Recent bad press is not their fault. & is grateful that they've done trick re:wisdom tooth and/or neuralgia over last fortnight. Take sensible care of yourself.
    mhags - ditto.
vjm - was toe pre- or post-Snowdon? Good post-crimbo lunch challenge, weather permitting:p

I feel as though i should get back in to the habit of posting my pleasures but I've not really done terrible much .

    One week post op...so that's a bonus!
OH has picked up a bit, so that's a big bonus. Been a very worrying 10 days after chemo.
Chats on phone with sister and friends .
My 'to do' lists for others finally done....just not with the same urgency I would employ!
Sleep....so much sleep! Today I had stripped bed and as it was so windy it dried very quickly, got it back on my bed within 2 hours ...I just had a little lie down on it....woke up 90 minutes later.

Cooked for first time last night ...the tastiest mince and tatties! Tonight having pasta with chciken and bacon and mushrooms and onion and cream.

Hope you all have a good day :)
Early start for hospital tomorrow morning. See what our lovely oncologist has to say.

Then we will see what America has to say...yikes!

Morning from an early train London bound. Got a PhD workshop today, first half about research funding (yes please), second half on career planning (no thanks - I am 52 years old and have worked in academia for 20 years. And I am doing a PhD on careers). I will be leaving at lunchtime. :D

Belated happy birthday BoP. I am similarly fussy regarding the quality of my food.
DD - love the word hygge. I need s hygge afternoon (and a Mr piano)
Ampersand - didn't do snowdon cos the weather was too murky, and in the end we didn't have a car. It can wait.

Pleasures for the past few days

1 went to see my girl perform for the first time in two years. She didn't have a big role so it was hard to judge improvement in her acting (though she was very good, but then I am biased :D) Her singing was sublime though.
    2. A day in Sarfend. Breakfast in 'spoons cos we could. With beer. Cos we could. And the most amazing tea shop before the show
    3. Cleaned the house yesterday. Pleasure being that it's clean and he ironing is up to date
4 OH coooked roast chicken which we had with a bottle of red, first time for a while we've done that. Delish
    5 poldark. Satisfactory ending...

    Have a great day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
