PK - I hope you waved to me as you went by! Plenty of stars here but I can't ever see them as sons are nervous left alone in the house at night (I'd have to walk out across the village as there is too much light spilling from the row of houses here).

    Pleasures for today:

    1) A lie in!

    2) Hens OK. We are full of guilt after accidentally catching a blackbird in the rat trap :-(

    3) Went to local shopping centre so I could have my hair cut. We also bought new son trousers, a few bits for the holidays and used the massaging chairs!

    4) Chips from the van for tea.

    5) Finally got a few more train tickets paid for and printed. There is just one stretch (Switzerland to Italy) that seems impossible to buy online.

    * New book arrived. Cheap Kleptocracy >> it's about Putin.

    * DH grilled hamburger outside on the grill. The man's a genius with anything he grills! Served topped with saut!ed onions and mushrooms, home grown tomatoes and jalapeño on toasted chibata bread. Meat was on sale, bread 1/2 price. Two out of four veggies from the garden. :D

    * About to learn a new game...Go. My son gave me the book and it is my homework when we are driving to take back the grandhounds this weekend. Chicken fried steak is our reward for dawgsitting!!!! :j

    * Laundry done, packing almost.

    * We have enough of everything.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

    1. Hedgehogs here as well. Seeing most nights. It has many slugs to eat. Also saw a tiny frog yesterday.
Generally I see a larger frog.

    2. Managed to wash and dry sofa/ chair covers and put them back on the chairs.

    3. Spent time in the garden -sitting and enjoying it and weeding and digging and watering. Also planting some seeds.

    4. Job and cooker both need replacing. Good news is have enough money in savings not to worry too much about the cost.

    5. Long chat with my parents. My Dad seems to be ok.

    6. DS2 working hard at his summer job and managing to fit in working for my sister.

M-early Christmas one and all! Santa has been this morning , roast potatoes and parsnips have just gone in the oven and we are having chicken wrapped in cream cheese and pancetta. Sprouts will be involved ! ( love sprouts)

It's been a lovely day, chilly start but brightened up and is gently warm.
Very late night last night, DD2 had 2 friends who were getting picked up after the parent had been at a party...1.30am! So I had stayed up until they left , woke up at normal early time then zonked again

We exchanged gifts this morning, all piled on our bed, like we used to ...just 5 adults and a pile of gifts was a bit of a squeeze!

Haggis dog got a chew bone , which made his tail wag very quickly and a new shiny red, collar tag. He lost his other one in Tasmania .

Yesterday I had work, which I really did not want to be at. Kitchen had not been deep cleaned since I had last done it, so spent time cursing under my breath and scrubbing, when I said to boss I was told that's what I was paid for...could have swung for him. The basics of working in a kitchen are working in a clean environment. @rse!

Anyway, I came home , I will be paid and it's only once a week for now. OH had his first day of feeling dreadful post chemo, so I found that hard being at work.

We had a houseful of friends / kids friends last night , a couple of folk didn't come as they did have germs which I was glad about. OH rallied round to get up and dressed before they came and we had a lovely evening.

I had made lasagnes, potato wedges, salad, chicken , garlic bread. Mini mince pies, meringues , gingerbread cupcakes . Friends also brought food and we had brownies and blondies ( must get recipe) , biscotti, so much chocolate, a trifle. We had made a non alcoholic festive punch ( pineapple juice, cranberry juice, cranberries, ginger ale, ice, sliced lime ) and a mulled cider with tiny heart shaped pieces of apple , cinnamon sticks, cranberries, orange peel, Apple cider, Apple juice , syrup and warmed slowly. Both apparently very nice.

DD1's colleagues had had a whip round at work and we were given a fabulous gift box ,it was filled with vouchers, cash ( to have a treat) , lovely smellies and so much chocolate.

I came home and bumped into ( literally) a huge bouquet of christmas balloons which had been delivered. Our Queensland / Tasmanian friends had sent that.

We were given a lovely foodie filled box and a lovely proteus plant from other friends, who had their kids with them and who wonderfully entertained themselves drawing and sticking christmas stickers on pictures, I'd provided.

Another friend who I'd worked with brought her shiny new fianc! to meet us, they turned up in Christmas jumper and Santa hat! Lovely to catch up with her and meet him. I am so happy for them both, love is shining from both of them. They brought more chocolates and candles.

Our chinese friends came with freshly made spring rolls and gateaux that we will probably have for pud tonight. Lovely to see them as always.

It was a very happy evening, with everyone getting into the spirit of the occasion, no one was sad...I only had a tear when we were presented with gift box from DD1's colleagues as it was so unexpected and so kind.

So much love and friendship and kindness ....similar to what we experienced back home in Scotland but this time in our home in Melbourne. We are very fortunate to have so many good and kind people in our lives .

We have hard times ahead and we don't have a happy ending but we travel along with love at our sides at all times. We are fortunate for that.

Do have a wonderful Sunday.....remember that in my little corner of the world it's M-early Christmas and celebrate!

    Happy holidays Frith.
No hedgehogs here am afraid, think they have all traipsed over to & house......

First and foremost pleasure has to be dear Mhags Crimbo post, full of love, family, friends and festive jumpers, sending much love to you all.

Picked up darling Mum, in my soft top as big car poorly, so pleasure was seeing how glamorous she looked with roof down and sunglasses on.

Got home and the Combine was in field right next to our house, all the surrounding ones had already been cut so knew we were next, windows all shut and spaniel standing up at window barking at the machine.

Watching William FP do so well in dressage section, incredible considering where he was just a few months ago.

Sitting in late evening candle light, watching our resident bat fly around the house.

That all sounds smashing, MHags. Amazing food!

Haven't seen a hedgehog here in probably 30 years! I wonder where they all are?

Holidays tomorrow. So much to do today I haven't been able to get out of bed yet for the denial :-/ Bigger son is making me a cup of tea on condition that I get up then go with him to move and feed the hens! Woke up 3 times with jaw clenched on new anti grind guard and one of my dreams was there was a lion at mum and dad's :-/
