    Good evening everyone :hello:

Sorry I've been MIA once again. SATs, followed by a manic time at school generally (and the rugby season) has prevented me from even thinking!

    Pleasures:

    1) Busy trying new recipes.

    2) Caught up with two old friends last weekend. Great to see them, but not when we realised that we'd known each other for 26 years... Surely we're not old enough?!

    3) Completed another teacher survey, which has earned me a £10 Am*zon voucher. Bonus!

    4) Cuddles with the cat. She's a very calming influence on us!

    5) Making the most of being on lunch duty... I get a free lunch once a week! Who says there's no such thing as a free lunch?! ;)

    4) Went to Sainsburys for lunch and shopping. Coffee grinds from the caf! to go on the compost heap.

    Evening all!
Work is done ( madly busy shift ) and dusted until next blooming weekend.

Didn't start until 8am so didn't need to set the alarm but woke up early as per usual.

Had a nice chat with friend from home.

It stayed dry and windy after a wild and wet night. DD1 had hung a washing out so it was dry when I got home. There's a pile to be ironed!

Made a lovely chicken and veg pie for dinner.

Hopefully more pleasures on my days off . Happy Monday :)

Morning, I am going to try to post more often. It is good for me...

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Breakfast and lunch in the garden
    2. Sorted out the office. With working from home so much more, the idea is that I work in the office, but it has been so horrible in there that I just didn't want to. The cleaner ignored it. So I had everything off the shelves, cleaned them and tried to only out back important stuff. Some stuff has gone and others consolidated so that the floor is now clear. The shelves are still rather cluttered but it does all look better. The radiator needs fixing but it can wait a few months, if necessary
    3. Left over tarte tatin for lunch :T and DD made another banoffee pie as I had left over stuff for that
4 got my wedding dress down from the loft. I have donated it to Cherished Gowns, who make burial clothes for still borns. Sad cause but am so happy that they can use my dress. Always hated that it was just in the loft in a box. Tried it on before I packaged it. It nearly fits :rotfl: bit of a gape at the back. DD put the picture on FB so some might have seen it...
    5. DD is in to Cosplay (dressing up as fantasy characters, or from comic books (thought that is also fantasy, I guess)). She had bought a Cinderella dress, but it was slightly too small. I was brave and cut it and then stitched a contrasting side panel in. It is a little tight, but it does now fit. :T

Have a lovely day, I am off to dads later..
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I just read about Cherished Gowns, what a wonderful charity.

I no longer have my wedding dress and it wouldn't really have been suitable anyway, but a lovely, lovely way to rehome one.

Back to work. Chatted to a new learner this morning and she was lovely.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • 1) A trip to Exbury Gardens this morning where they have more beautiful rhododendrons and azaleas to admire, beautiful walks in grounds that tun beside the river and a small scale steam railway to liven up the day.

    2) a visit from Sue and Charlie retriever to bring me a cartoon she'd cut out from the paper as it reminded her of me...about bottom of the fridge soup!!!

    3) A lovely cup of coffee in the sun in the old tennis court cafe this morning.

    4) NOT buying lunch out but having enough in the fridge to provide us with a tasty lunch when we got home.

    5) Making supper for tonight with the half pack of sausages we had left from yesterday and a blackberry crumble from frozen home grown blackberries, not a penny spent but tasty homely food for a couple of meals!

    Some pleasures for the weekend,

Took Tilly dog out out to Chippenham Fen for long walk, she sometimes misses out as Rosie (choc lab Mhags :) ) can only do 20 to 30 mins max, it was a real leg strecher for us both.

Driving past the old barn I disturbed a fox who was investigating the rabbit warrens there, boy did he move across the field!

Lazy Sunday morning with radio on and bacon & egg.

Catching up with family & friends at my niece's 18th birthday party, she was chuffed with our present of luggage for her trip to Ghana where she will be helping out at an orphanage for couple of weeks.

I had cheese scones and cake after nearly eight weeks on BSD :j

Early night but read in bed to finish book, think if will have to be my Brumby book next...
  • For the rest of the evening, BoP will be mostly ...

5 BoPsie enquired as to why we are not having roast this evening. Well, we are not. We care having some curry, part 1! It will then grow fur, an arm and a leg until Wednesday evening. Ordinary folk look away now.

You know you want to taste it!

4 You may be worried about BoP enjoying his curry. Don't, it is hot.

3 Coast job eventually came back, the job has been withdrawn! Bull.

2 Day BoP has cleared the yard of debris, cleaned the conservatory, sorted the patio and also trimmed his face fur!

Step forward, your back foot moves as well!

    Evening all :)

    1. Got a load of washing done and hung out and got it dried and back in again before the downpour this evening.

    2. Left over paella for tea. Was really nice and created a bit of space in the freezer.

    3. Beginning to really see the benefits of making do and using up. There's no waste and the fridge, freezer and cupboards are emptier and much better organised and I'm on track to spend less than £150 for May for the three of us and a dog:T

    4. Got my marking quota done a little earlier than normal due to an early finish off a course so I've had a catch up of Marcella, curled up on the sofa.

    5. Had an email from a good friend who's emigrated which is always lovely.

    Well, what a nasty day!

Here are the pleasures, interrupted by nasty bits. :-/

    1) Smaller son made a very nice macaroni cheese at school.

    2) I had a day at work where everyone was VERY RUDE to each other. Can't say much but think I am safe to say this next bit... in one class, people were outdoing each other with the size and roughness of their dogs. I was sitting by a particular large and tough pupil. I said, "What sort of dog do you have?" He looked a bit pained and hissed, "A chihuahua!" I said, "Mmm, I see you don't want everyone to know that" :-D

    3) Attempted to drive to the Land Registry after work. Hate motorways. Thought it would be better without any children in the car. Well, what a lovely panic attack that forced me off the road, through the roadworks, much to the surprise of 3 Bristolian Motorway Maintenance chaps...

As I veered off the road, swerving rather expertly through cones and tape, I realised this would be my last venture onto a motorway!

I had several little chats with the motorway chaps (all with glasses and goatee beards, to add to how surreal it was). Then I sat on the embankment for a while after we'd all agreed it would be nigh on impossible to wheelspin my car back out onto the road. (And I wasn't going to drive it again anyway!) It was a free breakdown service but no one came.

Eventually I phoned 101 for advice but when I said "M5" and "accident" I was put through to 999! I did try and stop them. A few more phone calls and a tow truck arrived. Turned out the man driving also had a goatee and glasses, was very pleasant, and used to frequent the same haunts as me in Nottingham. :-)

I can't say I enjoyed the bit where he accelerated along the roadworks road as the "only way to force your way onto the motorway is to do the same speed as the nearest truck then just drive out through a gap". But it was jolly, nonetheless.

    4) Had tea made by smaller son and cherry cake made by mum.

    5) Went to see the hens.

    6) Have been in bed since 9 and am about to listen to Just a Minute.
