  • On the contrary.
I see Cheryl has left some tv show. Goodness me, who is Cheryl!
    5 Bull.
4 And the other is not inn again. Two days on the trot. Oh well, head the other way.
3 Had mushroom kedgeree last evening for tea. Freshly made, with proper mushrooms, and long grain rice. Please remember that yoiur BasMitti rice only has to contain 5% bashmutti rice, the rest can be any old sorts, such as long grain. Alaso available at house of BoP, is saffron rice. Freshly made, not with saffron, but termites! (turmeric!)
2 Nite BoP will be listening for the mariners as they face Aldershot in the race to get back into proper football.

  • 1) Drove DD1 back home this morning and past Swindon the roadside verges are covered with cowslips just beginning to open their eyes, also along the motorways are masses of primroses where the banked verges are in sunny spots, so lovely.

    2) Made leek soup for lunch with some leeks just harvested from her veg garden, such a fresh and lovely taste.

    3) We sat out in the garden in the warm sunshine to eat it, was luscious!

    4) Pushkin cat came home from the cattery and is very pleased to be with us all again, he's a bit clingy but has been very well looked after while he was there.

    5) Picked the first few stalks of new rhubarb from the garden too and crumble is in the oven with a lovely fish pie for supper, smells wonderful!

    1. A rainbow tonight :)

    2. Sunshine!

    3. Got more school stuff done and my classroom feels a bit tidier, note the use of the word bit!

    4. DD had a fab day out with her BFF, paddling on the Thames.

    5. I had my eyes retested and am looking forward to picking out some new specs soon. Didn't like the frames at Co$tco, so have my prescription and am looking at offers via this site for cheapness :)

    Good evening everyone :hello:

A good few days here. A lovely holiday where I have done very little - nice to relax, as opposed to chasing my tail.

    Pleasures:

    1) Made Jamie Oliver's chilli con carne from his "Happy Days" book. Extra portions are in the freezer, ready for another day.

    2) Went to the local arts centre to see a film with DH. Not our normal sort of film - Icelandic, with subtitles (ie you've REALLY got to concentrate!!!), but we *almost* felt intelligent. Almost... :rotfl:

    3) Met up with a friend for coffee. She's in a bad place mentally because of a job, hopefully I went a teensy way to supporting her.

    4) New iron seems to be working well. Still waiting for it to iron clothes whilst I sleep...

    5) Bought reduced price Hotel Chocolat for a friend's birthday. :D Slightly short dated, which is why it was reduced. She'll eat it fast enough that it won't make a blind bit of difference. ;)

Have a good night everyone

    Some pleasures for today,

Lovely farrier finally texted to say will trim Bill's feet tomorrow.

Trying to implement certain changes to job role, times it feels like banging head against brick wall, at other times it's a lot worse :rotfl:

Spent lunch hour sitting on bench next to river, more energetic folk jog round the business park, I made friends with a moorhen.

Straight to the yard after work but come home to delicious tea of chicken with spicy lentils, yum.

    Day off tomorrow:j

Ampersand book sounds fab and right up my street, offer to drop off is so kind. Am at work on Monday so won't be home till 6, not sure how that fits to your plans. PM me m'dear

    A busy day today!

    1) My dad picked us up to take us to the station, which was helpful as there is nowhere to park (especially overnight).

    2) Worcs to Reading then Reading to Gatwick Airport trains ran OK.

    3) We got off at Gatwick Airport to look at the planes (having been travelling for 4 hours by that time...) In the old days at Birmingham, they had an outdoor, high up place where you got the wind (fumes) in your face. I'm sure I remember sitting somewhere in Gatwick Airport 20 years ago, but could not find it today.

We wandered around then asked a man with a lanyard. He said there was only one decent place - a landing in the hotel opposite with "a big window". So we sneaked into the hotel, got in the lift for the top floor, tiptoed along the corridor and there it was! A cleaner came out of one of the rooms and said it was the best vantage point available :-)

    4) On another train to Brighton and found the youth hostel. A pleasant room and they have the same arts and crafts fireplace that I have in my bedroom!

    5) Had a sit down then went on the pier. Spent hours there, on and off. Sons enjoyed the various rides and particularly the trampolines. We found 2 geocaches on the pier also and there are more to get around the place tomorrow. Sons also went on the big wheel.

    6) Found a burger bar as recommended in the Guardian (I printed out their guide to cheap places to eat) but the queue was out the door with no seats. We ended up in Subway and with cakes from a little Sainsburys. Then went back on the beach at 9pm-ish and walked along the front.

It's been a strange return visit because, with the exception of literally stopping off for half an hour once, I haven't been here since 1995. I was doing some archaeology at Pevensey Castle (we're going there tomorrow) and we had one day off a fortnight. 3 of us went into Brighton on the train, went on the pier and had a Chinese takeaway on the beach. :-) It will be even stranger to be back in Pevensey tomorrow.

Brighton was where I first met my husband to be, and many years later, the first place she and I went out with her en femme. Also of course inspiration for Greene and queen. I plan to revisit this year, perhaps I'll find one of your geocaches frith :-)
    1) packed myself a very tasty prawn salad for the journey
    2) we stopped at a series with McDonald's. Dd2 and her bf bought lunch for them. Dd2 won a free apple pie.
    3) I had a cuppa - 6th bean collected so next cup is free
    4) arrived safely at sister's. Have now met their rescue staffie - Skye nee daisy
    5) bangers and mash accompanied by a lot of laughter

Well the foul weather matched my foul mood today . It's lashed with rain all day , which is of course is badly needed by the gardens.

So, I went to work...front facing seat on train, free journey on train , all good so far ...and then I went in and totally lost the plot! It was filthy, so badly closed , I even took photographs . I was furious and ranted and raved even though I was the only person there.
Then had a huge breakfast order as soon as I opened and that stressed me and then I made a start to cakes for a bake sale I'm catering for , only oven isn't working very well. Carrot cakes without carrot anyone? Kind of forgot to put carrot in. Nice spicy buns but definitely not carroty!

Anyway, I left a whole 15 minutes earlier which meant I was off train before I'd even have left work usually!

Came home and it seems Mr Nobody could put dishes in the dishwasher so lost my temper over that and I did it.

Husband had hospital , which I wasn't able to attend as I was having a bad day at work. Saw a doctor ( a lovely one) who has been away and hadn't seen him for a while. He was so pleased with how well OH was. They don't always see a positive outcome , it's often the other way. Yesterday was his 4 year cancerversarry since first diagnosis. So much gratitude to the team that he's still here with us, for all we moan about waiting and waiting we are so thankful for their skills.

Made a very nice macaroni for tea.

    Hugs with my dog boy.

Snuggles with DD1 on the sofa ( may have had a snoozette) we have a huge new fleecy blanket that we were snuggled under watching UK telly.

Som is away camping with friends, yep, in the rain! He texted to say he'd arrived safely...see him on Sunday.

Surely tomorrow will be better! I am hopeful! 4 shifts to work until boss is back and can have all the staff crap back! I'm over it!

Do have a lovely day....will try and be all positive tomorrow :)

mhags, not really here, but just wanted to grab your rant and chuck it in with my last Thurs' Spitalfields thefts.

There - that's done! They've all just gone down the oblivion plughole at this end of things.
