Skint it was a beautiful morning here, sorry you had such a poor start. I did start planting but decided to to the sofa with the neb and some some sewing. T'was definitely a bit puffy out there.
& Well done for all your hard work, I do hope people will use their votes whatever their leaning. It was my DD's local UKIP people who got the date wrong, unless Frith's did too!
mhags congratulations on the $55 :T, and on the gift of flowers from you to you
villagelife pleased to hear the horrid boss will soon be leaving you in peace and work gets easier for you.
TT butter pie is a good North West type dish, it sounds lovely and can't wait to try it when I'm visiting again. Good luck to your DS2, hope he gets the career he wants.
Frith good to hear the neighbour has behaved. You managed to fit in lots of jobs while you've been on your own but it will be lovely to have the boys home again.
DD I like the £5 idea, a group of us did it pre-Christmas for secret Santa and everyone got really exciting presents
BoP it's poet's day, go home and prepare Bopsie a big, hot curry, then a deep, hot bath and a large hot toddy before bed.
OT your No3 is so simple yet so important.
1. Yesterday was spend repeating the previous day, same garden centres but this time we stopped for a late breakfast in one, I had the biggest fruit scone I've ever seen, it took ages to munch my way through it. Delicious
2. Bought some ground cover plants for my one bed, every time I grow flowers a cat decides to use it a sun bed. Hopefully something a bit prickly will be more of a deterrent
3. Bought 4 'erbs for £2, they'll go in the gaps in large tubs around the roses. Last year's pansies are still going strong so there are very few gaps to fill this year.
4. Back home, had a cuppa with DN'bour and a lovely piece of fruit cake. Not a particularly 'good' day food-wise but we must have walked it off, garden centres aren't exactly small places!
5. Busy early morning, the lawn repair man came and is starting in 3 weeks, and the phone company came to fix the landline for the third time in as many months. Not happy about losing the service so Monday is earmarked for negotiating my contract again. Wish they gave a fair price and stuck to it rather than having annual discounts, it's a silly game they play but I suppose I do get what I want eventually.
Have a good rest of the day0 -
An hour to go before sons come home :-) :-)
Pleasures for today, already happened and planned...
1) A good sleep! until 9am.
2) Brother came round and helped me tie the honeysuckle up to the new trellis.
3) Went swimming.
4) Finished the last little bits of painting and varnishing - mainly around where the fireplace was put in yesterday.
5) Off to local shopping centre for eyebrow threading so I don't frighten the pupils on Monday. It amused me that she threaded away carefully, gave me the mirror (i.e she had finished) then said "Hang on" and got more thread and had another go!!
6) Lunch in M and S.
7) Bought a photo frame from TXMaxx so there is now a photo of me on the new fireplace with bigger son aged 2 and a smaller son bump! (Taken in T Pendre, VJsmum).
8) Sainsburys for goodies (more later....)
9) Home and have cleaned floors, tidied up, watered seedlings etc.
10) Boys will be home at 6.30.
11) Unknown to sons, mum, dad and my brother are coming at 6.45 for a grand unveiling of the shed! I've got Schloer (in place of champagne). Brother had got bigger son a vice from one of his house clearances.
12) Looking forward to Gogglebox later (as is bigger son) and have bought samosas etc for then. :-)0 -
Skint - thanks for your reply, over the next 12 months we will be visiting colleges and looking at a plan B, as reading the guidance notes I don't think he will get in to do an apprenticeship.
Sparrer - I'm originally from a town near Preston (Lancs), a village bakers use to make a butter pie with a cheese topping enclosed in the most delicious melt in the mouth pastry.

Evening from Melbourne, it's been another nice day after a chilly start.
Work for me, not madly busy which I was glad of. Out that door at 2pm prompt!
Saw hot air balloons this morning just above City.
Nice drive home.
Shower and a wee snooze.
Had to nip into next town to get something for work.... May or may not have made some Easter sale purchases.....some bunting, some tiny pastel coloured pegs and a very pretty tea towel.
Grocery shop .....given a $10 off spend at the till, thank you very much!
That's about it for today , watching iplayer, I cried watching Eastenders, memories of sitting round my dad's bed as he died.
