Evening all
Five pleasures for Saturday:
1. Popped into local town, indulged in a W8rz freebie tea and picked up a freebie paper too with my shop.
2. I'm on my own tonight so for supper so treated myself to a rainbow rice salad with 'oriental dressing' from W8rz, baked the last piece of white fish from the freezer stuck it on top of the rice and poured the dressing over the lot and have just invented a new dish to die for. I've just got to work out how to make the salad and the dressing myself so I don't need to buy it ready-made.
3. I stocked the house to the rafters with essential store cupboard, freezer and non-food items before my op in the summer and we've been gradually using everything up. I went and restocked the non-food stuff at Mr S while I was out. I'll tackle the store cupboard stuff next week and I'll do the freezer again after it's been defrosted. Starting to feel organised again.
4. University Challenge.
5. Got on top of a ton of accounts and money to bank in the business account - well overdue.
Off to light the fire and get on with more sorting of paperwork with something on iplayer.
Sweet dreams

Vast amounts of cakey thank yous for the birthday wishes, I had a lovely day and a freezer full of cake I could happily live with, there is rather a lot of cake physically here. So Saturday evening cake:o
1. Had a lovely meal out and a couple of drinks helped relax, thou I really love the sound of CCP’s toffee vodka sounds delicious, and heard it mentioned on gogglebox the other week.:p
2. Picked up 2 amazon lightening pre black Friday deals today just an outdoors plug that DH wanted and some animal pads.
3. Did a little ( a lot) of shopping at home bargains, BM and Dunelm:o
4. Popped into to Costco, picked up a jumper, oil for the car and a roast chicken to make fajitas tonight, wow it was so so packed with people everywhere there.
5. Christmas smelling candles making the place smell festive.:D0 -
What started as a lazy Saturday turned out to be anything but...
1. Vac'd through upstairs and decided to give the cream bedroom carpet another go with the shampooer. My first effort left it a bit streaky so did it more thoroughly this time and it seems to be a success. Will know for sure when it's totally dry in the morning
2. Decided the television stand would collapse it any more dust settled on it, which was all very well but it led to everything in the sitting room being dusted/polished
3. Then I thought the frames on the sideboard looked a bit dull so they all got a clean too. There are quite a lot of photos so I put the ironing board up and put them on there, then put them back as each one is cleaned
4. The ironing board was up so of course that led to doing the ironing
5. Wrapped up some presents for the DGGC, so pleased to have them back in my life that I'm afraid I've gone a tad overboard, but I do have several years-worth to make up for. That's my excuse anyway..
6. Then I sat down to watch a film and slept all the way through it!
Sweet dreams x0 -
Late pass last night as out with work in newly opened curry emporium. Not bad. Then we went to dca for g&ts. Very enjoyable. But for today
1) on my own in the house as xoh and dd1 have gone to engerland to visit mil. Nice lazy morning
2) lunch time concert at cathedral followed by tea and cake
3) then a bit of xmas shopping. Managed to get another ball of wool in the turquoise i'd run out of 5 rows short of the end of my square
4) then a short stop at the pub for a half and the end of the scottieland game
5) then home to made 24 advent crackers for dd2 who is coming home for a couple of days tomorrow. I have put in baking stuff - small cookie cutters, icing tubes, cake decorations and silicon cupcake cases. For crimbo she's asked for baking stoof.

Argh, so very cross. :-( More on that later.
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) New cold got better as the day went on.
3) Popped to Sainsburys.
4) 2 loads of washing and ironing done.
5) Went to mum and dad's joint 70th birthday party. Food good.
Cross! Got to mum and dad's party just after 7. Brother was on our table plus second mum and dad. Real mum and dad down far end. Sons sitting next to me and my school friend. It was in a pub with attached well known restaurant; mum and dad had found and hired the band.
Music was STUPIDLY loud. If I had wanted to hear that volume, I would have spent my Saturday night in Rock City! You couldn't hear other people speak. Trying to eat with that noise was stressful and made you eat at top speed whether you wanted to or not. Smaller son and I had two walks round outside and my left ear was ringing. He started crying at the end of the main course and wouldn't have any pudding.
Mum had said the band was going to play before the food, leave a gap for people to eat, then about half an hour afterwards. There was to be no vocalist and, as no dancing, they were not to be particularly loud at all.
I was trying to gesticulate to mum that it was too loud. My dad asked why smaller son was crying and I told him it was because the music was too loud. It was also rubbish with mad, jazzed up versions of the theme tune of University Challenge and they had played their repertoire twice by the time pudding was served.
So we left at 9, son still crying. Didn't get to speak to anyone. My friend left too and I can't imagine anyone stayed late with that row.
It was good to be back home, I'm a Celebrity on and Thorntons chocolates being eaten :-)0 -
Sunday evening
We had a lovely birthday party for my 18 year old child
Nice group of young adults here , spent most of it in the garden. Tables decorated with candles and posies of fresh flowers from the garden. I've been collecting little glass jars for months!
Pumpkin cake was delish! Do try the recipe! We all had to pile into my office as we couldn't get the candles to stay lit outside with the breeze. It was 32o.
Made far too much food, sent some home with people and leftovers for our tea tonight and tomorrow .
Puppy dog was in his friendly Labrador element!
Lots of positive comments on my dress.....bought for $3.50 in op shop ( about £1.75)
Today, I'd no work! First Sunday off in about a month. Was still in my jammies at midday! Got all tidied up, washing all hung out and had a lovey chat with my friend from home.
Dog , had found his special place at the dining table....loaded with food! He managed to get oil all over him from olives, so he had to have a bath. Last time I'd put him in the laundry room sink but he's too big so into the big bath he went, I'm not sure who was more wet...me or him! Then he ran out in the garden and rolled on the grass!
Had a shower, then a wee snooze...well it's was a late night and an early morning!
We've taken puppy out for 2 walks. Just round the block and he fair enjoyed it!
Just about to have some chilli for tea.
Have a good one:)0 -

1. Busy but great week. Got another observed lesson tomorrow though, so trying not to get overly nervous......
2. Joined some of the class and a mahoosive congregation at mass this morning. Not quite my bag, bit too much incense for me, but lovely to see my cherubs doing their bit.
3. DD was picked to play at a netball tournament today and thanks to her magnificent shooting, her team won! I'm now losing her to sport as she's been selected for the next 3 matches
4. Had a mummy-daughter day yesterday, which ended up with us coming home and having a couple of hours in my room, cuddling, chatting and snoozing - bliss!
5. Payday tomorrow!0 -
Evening everyone :hello:
Feeling a little rough today. NOT self-induced.
Pleasures for the last couple of days:
1) Visited London yesterday, to meet up with my former uni housemates. I arrived there early and took myself to some of the Paddingtons - only managed 5 of them, but I really enjoyed it! I met some of the same people along the way, which was pleasant.
2) Lunch with friends yesterday. It wasn't OS, but it was great to meet up with them and it was as though we'd never been apart.
3) Got back last night and walked to the pub where DH was dining with his parents. Had a glass of wine (one, small!) with a sparkling water chaser.
4) Planning done, albeit not as well as normal, but when I'm feeling this rough I'm not going to go overboard. I'm lucky that my student is doing well and is beginning to teach a few lessons here and there.
5) Weekend spent with friends. Always good and they're very special to me as they have got me through some dark times.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
