hey guys! I am soooooo sorry I went awol and havent had the focus to post, been a bit hectic, but I have been following posts when sporadically had time! Thank you all for support, I didnt mean to worry anyone I am so sorry
Its late and I would love to comment on everyones posts Ollie stylee I did reasd even if I didnt have time to post, so many great posts both good days and bad.
But I am so tired! Take refuge in a none epic jex post while you can!
I realise everyone has had trials and tribulations and will resume buisness as usual soon hopefully, wanted to post thought, that my thoughts atm are with Acey I hope it all went well hun, truly. And now you can hopefully stop with the drama! I dont know about me writing memoirs, you definitely should! Thank you so much for missing me! I didnt realise quite the worry I woudl cause, and thank you Ollie for the PM I wish you were my mum! (if thats not an insult!)
To everyone else, ( I feel so bad generalising, but I missed a few days and I honestly was reading all posts) welcome to all newcomers, hello oldies! (in the 5 OS sense!)
Will try and post properly tomorrow, I was just so conscious I was worrying you guys, not used to having that at all lately so it was remiss of me, I apologise.
The girls are good though! Even if I was accosted by one today who decided to jump on my back / shoulder as I went in to feed them! (still making porridge every morning, and the latest fad seems to be salad! (good job as they are getting fat!!!!))
Also applied for a genuine free sample of some pastry case thingies I wanted to try and today a whole box of 48 arrived! I was expecting like 2 or 3! RESULT!
OH says I am cheating on my GPs with all these freebies!
OOOOOOhhh and I got 4 cook books from CS today for £5! One is a good housekeeping menu thingy book, that is AMAZING! If I wasnt so tired I would find the link so you can all be jealous of my find! The best bit being it was a proper local charity shop that supports the local hospice not a mass produced CS = not that they are bad but I hope you know what I mean
Ohhhh! Annnnnnnnnd! The "discount electrical store" had a "back in 5 mins sign." Hence I visited the CS next door and got my cookbooks! 25 mins later, they still werent back... their loss on a sale of a tumble dryer, not only that but I went to another shop as I had limited time, and it was even cheaper there! by £10!
2nd result of the day!
Oki waffled enough, sorry again about awol, I always read, even if I cant focus on posting
Huggles all
xxxxI will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
As I seem to do lately I fell asleep on the sofa so thought I'd better wake up and go to bed
Acey am hoping all went well for you, you need something positive after all the trials you've had thrown at you lately
Your tutor group sounds like so much fun house elf - if we drew on tables we'd be sent to the head for the cane
savingforoz and Ladyhawk, congrats on your newly decided single status...I said I'd never wash any man's sox again and it's been a joy not to :rotfl:
CCP I hope all the sparrers you spot can sing! Lol at their bird feeder game, I can just picture them all vying for a place
my mouth is watering at chocolate spread niksyg, haven't had it for years. I might just have to add it to my shopping list...;)
Welcome back Rummer, looking forward to reading all your positives
I'm following your wee comments re the 10 year ex with great interest Carolyntia, and speculating about where this is going
Welcome back to you also Jexygirl, I love hearing about your girlies and their capers
Ollie I was in infant school in 51/52, a bit before you I think. I agree on the early years, I think we all benefited from our parents relief that peace reigned once again, and food etc was slowly beginning to be easier to find. Speaking of food congrats on your great money saving shopping trip, that's the best sort. You're right about the phone call too, I've made my feelings known very discreetly and I don't think it will happen again It had better not!
My 5 -
1. Managing to get the washing machine going again, for a short while anyway
2. Getting a message via Friends Reunited from someone I was at school with 48 years ago . I registered on that site in 04 and had forgotten all about it until the email came today
3. Getting a lovely phone call from the couple I met in Jersey last week, we just hit it off and are very comfortable with each other already. That sort of thing happens rarely so is really nice to keep in touch.
4. Still no sign of daffys but more crocuses, and lots of buds on the lilac tree, gooseberry bush and a plant that I haven't a clue what it's called. It's very pretty though
5. The sunshine, again. It was so warm I had lunch outside for the second time this year, in the company of the mogs and the mutt who spent their time sunbathing on the grass
Night night (((everybody))) hope you're all sleeping soundly

PS Happy Paddys Day0 -
Hiya OS pleasures afficionados - another lovely spring morning here and light so early. My girlies were calling to be let out as I woke (5.45) and when I opened them up there was one warm egg already. They are relishing dust baths and a good supply of wrigglies from close attendance at the digging of the vegetable garden. Had (another) great day yesterday - here are my 5 ....
1. Planting more onions with the sun on my back, the hens at my feet
2. Out to lunch with my neighbour - OK not really OS but we only had a sandwich and OJ in a local pub and youv'e got to eat and I skipped supper. Very nice just to pop out to lunch - makes me feel like a grown-up! (aged 57 3/4)
3. Lovely afternoon having a guided tour round a huge 1917 airfield that has been bought and is being authentically refurbished by an enthusiast. Although it was built for war and so has much associated sorrow it is heartening that one mans enthusiasm is preserving it for posterity. Lest we forget...
4. My dwarf tulips are flowering - Johan Stauss - yellow and red very nice.
5. Finished my sewing and very pleased with it, while the footie was on the tv for company. Total cost of materials about £1.(so I saved about £15? Thats a minus S pleasure)
Off out now - dogs, greenhouse, veg garden, fruit cage, flower garden, hens - Have a wonderful day everyone.
XXMMStay clutter-free
No new stuff unless to replace broken items that are essential.
£2 savings pot (started Oct 09) £182 so far (£100 of which is banked)
Roadkill jar (found money) 87p and 20 eurocents0 -
Rummer - Welcome back.
Caterina wd on your car less status. I can see how that makes you nearly rich;). We use ours sparingly and the free bus pass wherever possible.
My picnics are very basic, just what I have to hand. Usually homemade soup in a flask in the winter and a salad in a box in the summer (homegrown of course) alway accompanied by a homemade roll and often followed by homemade yogurt.
The sowing of seeds I did yesterday are mostly tucked into an electric propagator, some, mixed salad leaves and rocket are in pots in the cold frame. I successfully overwintered land cress, rocket and corn salad in the cold frame so we have a bit to go at, plus the rocket and mixed leaves which I started in the front porch in January (it get's lots of sun) and we are eating those now.
BellaA man's life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possesseth. Luke 12 v 150 -
Morning everybody :hello: - another beautiful promising morning here - can see the sunshine glinting off the three 'tower blocks' that I can see from the kitchen window.
Tealady - all I can say is :j - hope you enjoyed your. Great news about your DD's progress at school :T.
Caterina - wtg on having your new skirt almost ready. Re your No.7 - I think that sometimes, where our own lives are concerned, we can't always see the wood for the trees - and that's why this thread is so good. When other people see their own blessings, it tends to highlight our own.
CCP - lol at the sparrows games on the bird feeder :rotfl: - ours is falling over at the moment due to the weight of the darn crows that INSIST on trying to sit on it. We're going to have to come up with another way of putting food out for the birds. Thank goodness that your brakes were spotted by the mechanic - another close call for our posters.
bella - you deserved your lunch in the summerhouse with all that gardening - time to just sit and enjoy for a short while. Very resourceful with your salad growing :T.
nuttybabe - reading your comment about getting dressed and ready for school, did you see the woman on 'Jo Frost' last night who said she decided to make her son walk to school in his pj's cos he wouldn't get ready for school - they only got to the corner when he decided to go back home and get changed quickly. He's never played her up since :rotfl:. Definitely going to suggest that to my dd to try with dgs1. wd on managing to keep up with flylady - I just couldn't hack it at all - though I do still keep up with washing all my dishes so that I have a clean start every morning with all dishes put away and a clean sink :j.
GirlySquare - I can TASTE that bacon butty .
niksyg - wd on using up your leftover chicken. I've had 4 chicken carcasses in the slow cooker all night. Going to strain the stock off later for freezing.
Ladyhawk - I'm a bit like you - supposed to work a 37hr week, (9 to 4:24 or 5:24 - depending on whether or not I take a lunch break) but I never seem to switch my intercoms over until around 7. I even switch them on at 7 when I first get up, in case it slips my memory later. Some of our other team members even go to part-time jobs in the evenings - no chance of that here!
Rummer -- lovely to see you again - hope you can find time to pop back and share with us.
Carolynita - wd on your busy day and hope you managed a good night's sleep.
savingforoz - wd on your short story.
Kittikins - sounds as though your DD had a great birthday and really appreciated all your efforts for her. I'm sure the adult teeth will just push the 'baby teeth' out as they come through.
jexygirl - I know just how things can overtake us - happens to me sometimes when 'DD calls'. lol at being your mum :rotfl: - the three I've got are quite enough thank you - though the thoughts of a DD in Scotland would be enough for me to go running up there at every possible opportunity. wtg on your pastry case samples :T - will you need to use them up and freeze, or will they keep for a while to be filled and used fresh?
sparrer - you were at infant school just a little before me then - I started in Jan 1956 and found it very daunting. Although I had a younger sister, I was living with my grandparents and found being with so many other children very strange and the noise really confusing - I'd never even played outdoors before that (apart from our own back yard - but I was scared of our cockerel, so would only go out when he was locked up!). When I was tiny, my mum used to take me to a neighbour's back yard and put me in a playpen with her little boy while they had a cup of tea/chat together - but that didn't really count as 'playing out'. One of the plants that I love to see at this time of year is Forsythia - such a lovely colour.
Megs mum - well done on your gardening - with help from your girls - it's the 'wrigglies' that put me off gardening - I am scared witless of them - always have been .
Mine for yesterday:
1. Another visit from DS1 for a cuppa and chat - he was working local for part of the day, so we had a couple of visits.
2. OH decided to go and visit my DD and take her money to her yesterday instead of today. She has her money paid via the Credit Union, but never has the bus fare to get here on the day. She has been known to get a taxi here, get her money and then taxi it back home again - costs her £16 out of the £37 that she collects . Recently we've been cashing her money for her and OH takes it to her - at least £16 extra is available for her food shopping that way.
3. Not sure if I told you all that I'm not actually divorced after all. I thought I was, but it turns out NOT. ex-OH instigated the proceedings, and I remembered getting my decree nisi - but not the absolute. He's now decided that he's getting remarried in June this year, so I told my daughter to double check with him that he did follow through and apply for the absolute. Apparently he didn't do that. Consequently, I'm still legally married to him - 38yrs this year. Anyway, he's told my DD NOT to mention anything about all this to his g/f - I just hope he gets it sorted before June. My kids think it's absolutely hilarious - we've been separated since Jan 1990 :rotfl:.
4. Lovely salad for evening meal last night using some of the whoopsied sliced ham from my bargain shopping spree.
5. Managed to get some more work done on my family tree. I had been stuck on one person who was born in India in 1837 but have been on the India House website and found the record of his birth and christening and that included the names of his parents - now gone back another two generations because of that :j.
That's me done for now - but I'll do an Arnie and be back later in the day to read everybody's postings. Hope we see something from ACEY today and that all was well yesterday. love Ollie xxx0 -
Morning everyone, my 5 for today are.
1. Have now tried 2 toffee cake recipes and neither tasted special, so i'm still looking..... for that super duper recipe. Think i'm spoiled with our lovely lemon drizz and ginger cakes. I expect all cakes to be this moreish.....
2. Drove 90yo friend to his hospital appointment, what a lovely time we had together in the car chatting.
3. The old stone wall at the front of my flat has a bit of colour coming into it, spring is on the way. The violas i planted last year have come back.
4. Only 9 NSDs so far this month.
5. Acey hoping all has worked out well for you.
Have a great os day, hugs to all who need them:A, and welcome back rummer. Love BTx0 -
Caterina- Heres to a lovely new life without the stress of work in it for you!
Acey- Hope things have gone well!
Ok I have definitely missed a lot! here are mine for the last couple of days:
1. Getting out of hospital. I have been in denial for the last few months on how bad I have been and went to the docs to see if i could go back to doing normal stuff- she took one look at me and sent me off to a and e who promptly admitted me until last night. At least finally they took blood for allergy testing which hopefully should shed some light on things.
2. Being back home and not getting woken up at six in the morning- why get woken up in hospital at that time??? Awful when you are ill. You just want to go to sleep!
3. Being able to see the lovely sun shine and contemplating a sit out in the garden with a cup of tea
4. Having a nice long chat with my sister- haven't done it in ages so was nice
5. Getting a nice bubble bath last night to make me feel a lot better
Have a good day allFeb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
Hi everyone,
1,Had a lovely shopping day out yesterday with DM, DD28 and DGS1,I thought at the time how nice it was to have 4 generations enjoying each others company.
2,The plumber has talked me into having a combi fitted instead of another back boiler, just waiting the dreaded quote now. Some of the family have used him and they've said he's very reasonable so I'm keeping my fingers crossed my emergency fund will stretch that far.
3,As the old boiler and horrible gas fire will be coming out,I've spent hours looking for a new fireplace and gas fire on line and I've found the perfect one and it's on a half price sale till mon.MY 30 yr old gas fire looks even worse now I'm picturing the new one in it's place.
4,Finished my montly asda order for next tues and I'm under budget this month.
5,Had a lovely girlie night with DD22 last night,we had a glass of wine, pringles and watched The Lost Boys on dvd as she'd never seen it.0 -
Thanks everyone! Meant to post yesterday but fell asleep whilst putting the boys to bed (8.30pm) and didn't wake up until 8am today!
5 for yesterday.
1) Went to court and my Dad went too. My solicitor couldn't make it so sent her husband instead. It was quite funny really as he is head of a firm of barristers in Birmingham and a part time judge! My case (with him pretending to be a solicitor) was probably a bit easy for him and I wondered what our judge thought when he looked up to see a fellow judge working for me!
Anyway, we went into court and the usual legal wranglings took place. The ex had refused to go to a contact centre so hadn't seen the boys for 5 weeks. He then made up some c0ck and bull story about he had "spoken to bigger son's headteacher who said bigger son is unhappy and misses him" etc etc. Well, bigger son *may* miss him but he is not unhappy, wouldn't go to the headteacher to chat anyway and the headteacher certainly wouldn't make time in his day to have a chat with the ex!
Anyway, the judge lost his temper which I hear (from my own personal judge!) is incredibly rare. He cut the ex off short and said it sounded most unlikely and it was his own fault, his own behaviour led to this and he had been offered supervised contact and not taken it and he should "consider his actions right now"...
So the ex is now going to see the boys in a contact centre, every other Saturday. He has to have a psychologist write a report about him, especially with regards to his "trying to commit suicide". I don't hold out much hope for that since psychs can only write down what you tell them, and the ex will lie. We will be back in court at the end of May where the psych, the useless social worker, me and the ex will be cross examined...
2) Went from court to drop Dad off and had a sandwich there.
3) Had parents evening... Little son is coming on in leaps and bounds :-) He has gone from not reading and not really being able to write his name in September 2009 to reading pretty well and having lovely handwriting! His spelling is still atrocious but what he writes is decipherable. He is now average in his class, not the worst! He is talking a bit to his teachers and even joining in with things like Activate (their keep fit type thing). I talked a bit about his probable autism diagnosis but it didn't seem to matter as he is doing OK whether he has it or not. (if you see what I mean).
Then I went in to see bigger son's teacher. He is quite the other way from smaller son so is now getting 4a or 4b's in his work which is 11 year old standards (he is 9). He is very over the top, dramatic and theatrical about everything (and a bit argumentative with the teachers at times....) but Mrs B has got to grips with him and all is well. :-) She talked about my little son having to go in her classroom to apologise for kicking someone and she had told him off, waited for a response and he said "I have never been in your room, Mrs B, I like the displays you have put up". :-D I said that was typical of him, he wouldn't notice if you'd told him off or not!
4) Got back from parents evening and my brother was babysitting which in his eyes is playing on the Wii and the laptop so I could hear them all laughing before I got to the door! I made us all a curry for tea.
Can't think of a 5 which is a shame because it wasn't a bad day, all in all.
The burned out lorry has been taken away but the 2 sad, melted cars are still here :-(
L0 -
Pleased to hear your day wasn't too bad ACEY, great to hear you had your own judge on your side and you have a couple of months 'reprieve' from court visits. Well done your little son, he's come on really well from ground floor to average
. And good for bigger son with his marks, you must be very proud of both of them. The way you're handling the court issues re the boys will pay dividends, it's showing already in their work. Well done, whatever you're doing, you're certainly doing it right :T
