    Hi all,

Thank you all for nice words about my crap day at work, really felt loved and cared for, great bunch that you are (((((((COLLECTIVE HUG)))))))!

Missed yesterday because upset from work continued (in my head), so DH took me out for the day to distract me and then DD and DS cooked dinner for me.

Just a quick update on the work front: today first thing in the morning I have handed in my notice! I feel so relieved, it has been a long time coming. My (new) boss has been on the phone with me for an hour and she was great, she is really good and has really validated my feelings. Tried to change my mind at the beginning but realised very soon that I am serious about it. Shame she did not start work with the organisation one year ago, it might be different for me if she had. Very scary,to be out of a job very soon, but also quite liberating. It will help me flex my OS muscles better and more efficiently.

GirlySquare, after my resignation and conversation with my boss, your link to the Inner Samuel L Jackson was like a little beacon of light, like a divine message of approval, it was so very appropriate, thank you very much!

Here are my blessings for yesterday. Today will follow later:

1 - As the upset was on Saturday, I had the whole of Sunday to recover and to be cared for and pampered by my lovely family.

2 - Breakfast in bed courtesy of DH (toast with chopped tomatoes and olive oil - very mediterranean!).

3 - Day out with DH in town and lunch at our usual cheap Chinese restaurant (cheap but delicious, never been let down in 20 plus years I have been going there!).

4 - Back home, DD and DS cooked me dinner ( gnocchi with tomato sauce, mix salad with olives and carrot cake made by one of their friends, also eating with us). Also DD's BF was there so it felt like a nice little party.

5 - DD and DS gave me a lovely flowering plant for Mother's Day (a Gerbera I think it is called).

6 - My OS friend emailed me the link to a cheap hotel break and we have booked to go with her and her DH over the Easter holiday.

7 - Made the decision to resign and suddenly life felt much lighter.

See you all later to catch up with today's blessings xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Got back to find a message to speak to my solicitor so I gave her a ring. She is very fired up about court on Tuesday and my barrister is also raring to go (he is my solicitor's husband). They're a formidable team and basically, nothing is going to change if they have anything to do with it! .

I suspect that if he asks your lovely social worker if the file she used to prepare her advice included the information about

    1. the impending fraud case
    2. the recent suicide attempt
    3. the return home of the Gf from hell
    4. the ball-bearing gun
    5. the "kidnap".

She might have trouble persuading the judge that unsupervised access is appropriate.

    Hugs to you for tomorrow.

Evening all - hope you're all well.

ACEY - good luck for tomorrow. I really hope it all goes well for you - it sounds like you've got a good team on your side, anyway.

Caterina - good for you for deciding that enough's enough. I've done this once - decided that I'd rather be unemployed than continue working for a company - and handing in my notice was one of the best things I'd ever done. I saw my mum that evening and she said it was the first time in weeks that I'd smiled - it sounds like you know the feeling! :)

sparrer - I'm so sorry you had such a disappointing mother's day. How could they 'forget' something so important?

Carolyntia - jexygirl is still around as I've seen posts from her on other threads.

jexy - hello if you're reading. Do come and let us know how you're doing.

    My five for today:

    1) This is a bit involved so bear with me... I had a lousy night's sleep last night and woke up horribly early. As I had plenty of time I decided to get the bus to work and walk home this evening, and gained a very pleasant and relaxing half hour at the bus stop by the park, admiring the newly-planted pansies and watching the gulls fishing in the lake. :) (After half an hour, in which time there should have been four buses, I gave up, walked home, and fetched the car to drive to work. Well, I did try to be environmentally friendly!)

    2) I persuaded my optician to stop sending me contact lens solutions for the next few months, as I have 6 months' worth already. Apparently that knocks £3 off the monthly cost, too. :money:

    3) I did my weekly shop during my lunch break - thanks to the wonders of storecupboard challenge, it cost me £5. :D

    4) My second daffodil's out this evening, and number three looks like it will be open tomorrow.

    5) Changed the timing on my central heating so that it doesn't now come on until 7pm, as I really don't need it until then.

    Have a pleasant evening, everyone.
Back after a very long break!

Thank you for all the good wishes and nice to see you, RAS. :-)

5 for today. I must say I have had a very lazy day!

    1) Seemed to have plenty of time this morning (not always the case) for a nice breakfast and school run.

    2) Caught up on a few jobs this morning.

    3) Went to Worcester to have lunch with my friend who had made devilled mushrooms.

    4) Had a "cheating" tea of oven chips, scampi and peas. Not sure I've quite made my 5 a day today, at least not without a glass of smoothie later this evening!

    5) Gorgeous sunset this evening so I walked through the village (smaller people scootered) and we went down our footpath that we like. It goes for about a mile and leads to a farm or two and sort of peters out. The boys like it because there is a slope for "time trials" on their scooters and there are 2 cattle grids.

    6) Boys are in the bath now (tempted in by the addition of a tray of ice cubes) and we're going to watch a bit of telly in a minute before bed. I'm going to do some ironing.

    That's about it!

    Evening all

Carolyntia - I did manage to just relax with a glass of wine!! I hope I didnt sound ungrateful to dh for everything he did, it was a wonderful day!

Ollie - dh thinks there is a washing fairy, a cleaning fairy, a washing up fairy, a loading the dishwasher fairy although he now knows there is no fairy to pick up his dirty washing off the bedroom floor (she stayed at his mums!! :rotfl:) and he thinks i sit down drinking tea, eating biscuits and watching jeremy kyle all day!

Bunny too - please let us know which is the best recipe so i can make it too! :p

    Mine for today

1 Ds1 eating his breakfast and getting changed without any encouragement so we left on time for school run! :j

2 Popping onto the flylady thread and getting todays jobs of kitchen and dinning room done (even cleaned the windows!!)

    3 Scrubbing the bathroom

4 3 loads of washing done with my improved gloop (which also goes in dishwasher to save more money)

5 Washing up with my home made red sparkly crochet scrubbie. It always makes me smile when I use it, not sure if its because i made it or because its sparkly!! :rotfl:

    Have a good evening all.

Acey all the best for tomorrow.

    My pleasures today:-

    1. A drive out to a local garden centre. Before DH retired this was not possibleion a Monday morning as I don't drive.

    2. Finding they had the patio table and chairs I have been hankering after since last year with 25% off - IT'S MINE.

    3. DH starting to build raised beds - at last. It's just been too cold until now, for his poor hands, with Raynaud's disease.

    4. The weekly visit from my DD and family. Very precious because when DGS changes school in September, these visits will stop.

    5. DD brought me two bunches of daffodils and a gardening magazine.

    I feel very spoiled today:T:j:)
