A million reasons to be grateful for this day - 21 years ago my oldest daughter went out of my life with my 2 grandchildren. Today my granddaughter, who now becomes DGD1 (sorry to the other three, who have now moved one place each down the line) found us :A. And I have 3 great-grandchildren!!! She lives just 25 miles away, and DD and I are meeting her on Sunday. I can't begin to explain my feelings, butterflies, lump in my throat, heart beating out of my chest, hands can hardly stop shaking enough to hit the right keys...this is HUGE!!! My God is a good God, my life just gets better and better :)

Wishing you all a blessed day :)
  • Cat Flap.

CCP is back, wander how Isis is. And falling off her toast. DD, be careful what you wish for. Sya. Jaffa’s all round, with a little wine. KK, timings will come. Dog blankets, please, no long posts. It is hard in the winding house reading them. Aye, being amongst steam is good. Just want to get a steam carousel and ride those horses!

    Just in, Sparra :heartpuls

5 Last eve, I know, should had played live Scrabble. Close fort game. BoPsie laid will, but tiles count. Had to remove her word JIP as it was only listed in the dictionary of BoPsie and not in the Chambers Official Scrabble Words Book. This left BoP, knowing that BoPsie had J, worth 8 points and BoPsie was on 255 to BoP’s 241. BoP laid fray and got to 253 points. BoP. Only having the A left, knew that BoPsie held a full rack, including blank. She laid Jar with the blank. 18 points! To 273. BoP played his A and got to 258 points and racked out. Count back. BoPsie’s rack had PIAOT. Seven points. but hey, BoPsie is within one win of two on the bounce! While playing Scrabble, we listened via the web to the Lord Tondeur of Blundell Park describe events, live, as they happened in Lincoln. Not a good night overall for BoP.

4 At the winding house this morning, Salt Mine. Seems the yellow thing is out, so lots of fresh salt drying in the pans. Things a bit easier now, gaffer has been awol for quite a few days now, well its says as much on the inter reactive calendar thingy. Ship’s cat is ok. Had top kid in town here last week, with open cheque book, bought out the second face, should keep the axe men happy.

3 Prior to the Scrabble event last night, BoPsie muted a major commotion in the scullery Raffles had caught a lander, and had, very spectacularly bought his trophy through his flap. OK, so BoP has to rescue the pigeon, and remove him to a place of safety. No problem, Raffles, who earlier lost his fresh steak, soon decimated the shrews, again.

2 Rant thyme, for the likes of Sparra and t’other, you can jump to 1

Years ago, when I started my apprenticeship, we were told that engineers provide solutions and help to people, to ease them on their way. Computers were things far off, in Doncaster and other wizardry places. You prepared your cards, and hoped they would total correct. Then we had a computer, to help decide what we had to do. It planned. It found us items. It eased our life. Today, the Pelham Rd factory is gone, replaced by rubble. I now connect, via wires and cords. It knows my place, it assesses my work, it checks my compliance. It sneaks on my colleague. Reports on our performance, direct to the team. The team unseen. It knows nothing about me!

Yeasr ago, while on my apprenticeship, I also worked in the Lifeboat. I was told by the bar manager, that we provide refreshment, to ease the passing of the day. The till was a series of wheels, that churned like magic. You had to add up the tab in your head, then put only the total in. Then the till got a bit clever, though now I was on the other side, enjoying life. Today, the bar is closed. The Lifeboat has now gone, replaced by biddy flats. Today, the pub detects, it knows what’s delivered. It tallies every pull. It reports the performance, direct to the team. The team unseen. It knows nothing about me!.

Mr Wrack, said in 1974. We will be lucky, we will have machines and computers to help us work. We would work three days a week!

1 Just like scoring a goal at football, the euphoria will be the crest of a wave. Until you glimpse the linesman, with chequered flag raised.

    Stop Post
Mr Crapco T vouchers have arrived. Their putah nose we are missing. No problem, we will still be missing!

    2) gorgeous sunny day
    3) work has decided they will pay my expenses after all. (I was over a month late with a claim for £440 so you can see why i was annoyed it didnt know the policy had changed to 1 month)
    4) had a 2 finger kitkat that was solid chocolate :-)
    5) friend brought in surplus allotment stuff. 2 very large courgettes, bag of peas and 2 lemon cucumers. Think that's what she said...

Belated and heartfelt congratulations on the senate DD xx

    1. Sunshine

    2. Got home before 7pm :)

    3. Had my first meeting with a parent and she was lovely (her daughter is amazing, just my kind of gal!)

    4. My supposedly problem, lower-ability children in maths were on fire today! I have sent little certificates home to their parents saying how amazing they were, and there were a lot of smiley faces, mine included! :)

    5. We had a fun joint PE lesson this afternoon in the glorious sunshine, although to hear some of the children whinge, you would have thought we'd frog-marched them to the middle of the Sahara rather than down the steps right outside our classroom door to the playground!!

    Roll on tomorrow :)

sparrer - what amazing news! :j :j So delighted for you!

    My pleasures:

    1) NSD :j

    2) Yellow sticker pizza for supper.

    3) Have impressed the deputy head again with my IT prowess! :rotfl: Why people don't Google the issue, I don't know!

    4) Watched the opening ceremony for the Invictus Games on the One Show. A tissue was needed as I was wiping away water which was leaking from my eyes. Simply incredible men and women. I think that even Prince Harry had leaky eyes too.

    5) Started to use a lovely notebook which I've had in my collection for a while. It's a pleasure to cross off things on my "to do" list!

Purple kitten - hurrah for finding trousers, delighted to hear ferret & "bitey" fluff have joined you, & good luck with PPI!
sparrer - it wouldn't be MS to just throw away the extra length of Eeyore. Hotwaterbottle cover? Ice cream & happy doglet - good times! Well done cosseting DNeighbour even if with things you won't use - perfectly reasonable use of resources! Where do you see muntjac?! Family restored - stunning, awesome, heartfelt hope all goes as well as possible Sunday!
ampersand - autumn definitely tinting leaves round our way - beautiful! "Dissuaded her from wasting it on dusting." - why can't my family see glorious days this way?! Bollards etc on the Bergerac rinse - hoping the cold salt water sorts it. We're still trying to get to West Stow - if only to thank them for the seed they're sending us. Smashing folk! Thank you for Holding Hands and just wow on Giles Duley!
mhagster - you can smell spring? I'm getting the nose-crisping tang of Autumn in Lancs. Hope cook worked well! "Seems okay" - er. Hurrah linking laptop & TV. All sorts of fun move nearer!
1of3 - thank you for explaining about the fizzy drink - dead right to avoid unneeded sugar & adds novelty for the LOs over years!
Tealady - chuckling at DD's rant - thank you for sharing!
LynseyLou - well done on work targets & on celebrating friend's doctoral thesis!
CCP - welcome back! Home made bread & lemming curd - yum! Have a smashing time on the herb course! Details when done?!
DundeeDoll - all the best with the vote & rousing cheers for paper recycling... Part of the senatus academicus?! Well done! Yippee your expenses paid despite shift in policy - *and* solid chocolate kitkat?!
Skint yet again - your bloke blind & deaf to MS ways too? Step away from kitchen implements - the "know best" is infuriating but not worth homicide charges. (Tromped that path several times.) Jaffa cakes & good luck with friend as boss!
VickyA - isn't it great when you can look stellar thanks to Google?! (Proud mother of son who stunned his Head thanks to QI!) Have a lovely time with biscuit cutters!
Kittikins - delighted you're alive & science lesson sounds loads of fun as well as virtuously educational. Looking forward to hearing future Nobel prizewinners attributing their love of X to you! Well done making maths clear - all your hard work & preparation paying off & brilliant getting your lot into fresh air - there are always a few who regard the yellow thing as a dangerous stranger!
Frith - absolute sympathies with fast growing sons. We may not stop feeding them. (I asked.) The "Little Mum" jokes do wear off eventually, I'm told. Well done with Duolingo & hurrah smaller son happy with new school & on same humour wavelength as teacher!
BoP - good to hear a closely fought match even if not live & sympathies over "white heat" tech dragging us into a corner for a scolding.

    OS Pleasures recently:
Grinning at the lurching dignity of child's robot ostrich kit. The head is particularly incongruously credible!

Enchanted by distraction screen at dressing station - animated, quiet music, very effective distraction. Formidable pain management too - almost nostalgic - the sweet, drowsy, untroubled little soul I recall as a toddler reappearing. Morphine's potent stuff.

    Sensational Moon!

"You said there was no homework!"
    "I lied."
    Siblings...

Oh I do love a baked spud with mince & onions!

Hearing howls of frustration as the patient joggles his house of cards, again. For some reason, offers of Sellotape make the house fall over more...

Great big hugs to all who need them, special appreciation to all who have any link to livestock no matter how many paws (I include children in the livestock category) & enjoy the supermoon whilst we can see it!

Hello all. Sorry to go MIA (I did, even if you didn't notice :p)

Morning all. Some lovely, cheering things to read on this thread - I've missed it. :)

    My pleasures for yesterday:

    1) HM bread and damson jam for breakfast.

    2) Had a sudden panic when I realised I'd got my dates muddled up and my DF's birthday was several days sooner than I'd thought; I went off and placed an urgent order on a website and, within 10 minutes, had a reply to say the present had been dispatched by courier to arrive in time. :T

    3) Isis whirlwinding around the flat with her favourite feathery ball (now somewhat less feathery than it originally was, sadly - a replacement probably needs to be purchased in short order!).

    4) Found a competition to post on the comps thread, which always makes me happy.

Um... can't think of a fifth, so I'll save it for another day (probably Saturday - don't worry, DFV, I'll tell you all all about my herb course, probably in exhausting detail!)

Oh, talking of trips out - VJsmum - I'm coming up to Birmingham in late November with my DM for the Christmas market - if you're around it would be great to finally meet up. :)
Back after a very long break!
