Frith -I'd love to brave the village show, but our veg look a bit erm homely :rotfl: they're very tasty, but bent and knobbly too...0
-
MrsPee: They are great charity shop finds.
Firth: Courgette cake, hmm I'm feeling inspired to cook, I tried beetroot chocolate cake last year I loved it, I think DH would have liked it if he didn't know the ingredients before hand
Mr T overcharged us for something as I was going through the recycling for the packaging, I was genuinely shocked to see the so called true price of the meats, shocking, then when I re examined the receipt I realised he’s also taken it off at the end of the receipt, speak as I find the staff at our local one do see switched on, feeling very lucky to have picked up the meats all at 40p each:money:, and at that price of course the animals can share.:p
1.To be honest I overslept it’s like I just passed out cold last night, but I was working from home and able to time shift effectively. Discovered a rather massive mess up not by my myself but also not sure how to progress it.
2.I’ve listed a few items for sale in the local rag and online but the listing doesn’t start for a couple of weeks as I’m tight and went for the free listings.
3.Cleaned our bedding, and did a couple of washing loads
4. Ordered a magazine, it’s an unusual one about magic but I do enjoy it.
5. The carcasses provided 4 stock pots, and 3 tubs of leftover parts to be ground up into soup for the animals, sometimes I wonder if it's worth the effort but all done now.
6. Oreo cupcakes care of yesterday’s reductions so good I think I would pay full price:o, got rtc “treats” for sat and Sunday also if they make it that far..:rotfl:0 -
1. Completing reference for friend for a post locally. The hoped for workplace is local, so I cycled round there to save a stamp, but turned out to be shut when I got there on the trike .
2. Ended up in Mr T.s for the first time in months as I didn't have stamps with me and the post office is at far end of the town centre. A book of 12 first class, of course they had none smaller... But got a couple of YS items, one of which was a huge meatball and pasta bake. I never buy this sort of thing usually, but the YS made it as cheap as buying ingredients and cooking from scratch. Tea sorted.
3. Dr C. remembering to tell me he can't take me to a wedding in the middle of nowhere next Sat in time for me to make other arrangements.
4. Friday night treats for the first time in goodness knows how long. It used to be wine or cider and chocolate, caffiene -free coke and spicy popcorn today. Do not really rate the popcorn tho,
5. Athletics on TV. Athletics on the box at this time of year reminds me of the last evening I spent with my Dad, watching coverage of the 1997 World Athletics Championships. That one wasn't a good one for GB, or Latvia either, (Dad was Latvian) but we both loved the sport. I probably mentioned it before, but where some families got their first TV for the Coronation, we got ours for the Rome Olympics.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
For yesterday:
-had a good walk.
-picked more tomatoes.
-did some much needed gardening, but two hours later still not finished.I had to stop though,as it was getting dark.Back out today, hopefully.
-have acquired a discarded shopping trolley, put out by someone. It needs a clean though,as there's an area that's mouldy. Also a big rectangular plant pot.
-chatting with a neighbour.0 -
Hello, almost bedtime here again!
Up early and phoned friend from home.
Pottered about kitchen , tidying , changing flower water , watering plants .
Out and about with OH, usual cafe and had a croissant this morning and salad ( which was such a huge bowl, didn't think we would eat it all but we did. Mooch through supplements and chatted with OH.
Grocery spend about half of what last week was ( thank goodness! )
We bought a sofa for our back porch at aldi today. Have been looking for one and as we are staying could justify it! So whilst OH cursed under his breath constructing it, I sweetly made him cups of tea and hoovered and did laundry!
Then we sat out for a while but it really was rather chilly! Had my citronella candles on and picked some pretty camellias and enjoyed reading for a while. OH played his guitar and it was all rather pleasant. Then it got far too cold.....
So we told the girls we were going for a walk and went up to our local Thai restaurant for dinner. Yummy! ( and so much more money saving by not taking them with us! )
I'm ( out the goodness of my heart!) working tomorrow but just a half day. Owner is unwell and I offered to work but will finish earlier than normal. Have arranged to have a half day on Friday which will suit me perfectly!
That's been my Saturday ! A nice day off! A new sofa ! A full belly!0 -
really nice day recovering. lodger (new name for xoh, makes sharing the house mentally easier!) has retired to bed with a headache.
happy bday dfv you've just caught me up but i'm soon to be 51. Life for me certainly took an unexpected and very exciting turn at 50 with a new job direction. next jaunt, south africa (for which 1st draft of talk finished yesterday, 2nd draft worked on this afternoon and final version will be finished tomorrow as needs to be sent off)
so for yesterday
1) my chapter arrived for final proofing - looks beautiful all properly typeset
2) worked late on afore mentioned talk. due at friend's screen printing exhibition opening 7 onwards so thought i'd best have some food first. went to coop (also to break £20 for bus) and they had a prawn sarnie reduced to £1
3) ate sarnie while waiting for bus. bus conveniently arrived just as last crumb consumed
4) met colleague who's moved dept so i don't see her much. good to catch up before off to show where
5) met up with quite a few friends. a very nice way to end a friday.
Then for today
1) slept through to 8. i think (hope) the jetlag is now gone
2) lovely soak in the bath with a book.
3) mowed the lawn and did the recycling bin (the lodger doesn't so when i'm away the grass grows and the bin overflows!)
4) quote for windows came through. not as bad as we feared so able to go ahead with whole house
5) laundry almost dried before rain shower. am determined to use tumble drier only in dire emergencies (would rather spend the money heating water for my weekly soak in the bath)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

PM to DD GTFC Spent Force!
Right on, here we go
Tomatoes, Friday night treats, Courgette cake! Glad rags of new. Sis spoken too. Ah, Mrs Pee. Turn the box off and get the cards out. SS, yep, you cannot win against a cat. Tom soup, has to have ruff cut croutons. Homemade of curse. Lambed kidneys. And even more soup!
5 Spent all of our Mr T voucher in one go. Boot polish, crumpets, with voucher, Dried milk, for the parsley sauces, and cocoa, proper, not foam version. Total cash given to T this year now £8. And £6.50 in vouchers. Guess we do not shop there. Also, they had toy soldier in offering lessons in death games. As my dad was in Korea, he said if you want to play soldiers, join the services. He never allowed toys of death at home. So avoid this emporium. Also removed various death games from the computer section.
4 Saturday and you nose what that means. Snorker, Bacon, Toms, Fried Tats, Mushrooms, and Egg. Washed down with a Jam enfussed crumpet and tea. That's Saturday sorted.
3 Quizzed last night, and BoPsie had her Glad Rags on. Came third. At least we did not come last. Only four teams entered. Wobbleades were purchased for the duration of the event.
2 Raffles, king of fuss puss, has demolished his W8rz food. This morning, we mixed up his dish, and sunk in some Whiskas. No problemo for Raffles, effortlessly sorted, the Whiskas variety has been left in the dish. Little sod!

Hi all
*waves.
1. Changing my hours at work, to enable a safer journey home after attempted mugging.
The pleasure being my bosses sympathy.
2. A pj day and night off work. Do not intend to get dressed or leave the house. Have used whatever is in the house and will not spend today no no no!
3. Pootle in the garden, weeding and watering.
4 . Scrummy home made lasagne bulked out with whatever I could find as lacking in lasagne sheets. Chopped up left over gammon steak and sprinkled in with a the cheesePudding of ice cream and crushed meringue made with 3 lonely eggs.
5. Looking forward to bubble bath, foot pamper and snuggle in bed with new book.
Love all your pleasures xxSIMPLY BE-££577.11:eek:

Discovered that if I sit still at my computer working for long periods the lights go out as on a motion sensor anyone looking in will think I am mad as I have to keep waving to activate them again.
I remember having that problem in an OU tutorial last year - the poor tutor was wondering why we kept waving at her, but we were just trying to stop the lights from going off! :rotfl:Alternative to scrabble for Raffles while bop curries on with kitch duties ce soir:

Guess what my cat brought in?
I've got this tom who I got from a rescue and hes a big cat with a big personality. Anyway, I leave the back door open a bit whilst he runs in and out.
Today I was in my lounge and all I could hear was a screaming sound and loads of thuds from the kitchen. I ran through and guess what he'd brought in and it was massive?
#
A frog? They scream horribly when a cat catches them.
Sorry I've been awol for the past few days: I'd love to say it's because I've been busy doing useful things, but actually I've mostly been playing Farmville. At least it's a good, OS-y sort of game: I worked out today how to use excess eggs and milk to make custard, just as I would in real life! :money:
1) Long lie-in this morning, enjoying the fact that I didn't need to get up for work as I thought I might (I was asked to work a rare Saturday if I was needed, but I wasn't).
2) Playing more Farmville, and adopting a virtual alpaca. Well, why not?
3) LO pizza for brunch, from last night's dinner.
4) My Corsican mint, which I thought had died earlier in the summer, is still green and so seems to be hanging on.
Erm... I think that's about it. It's been such a lazy day that I don't really have anything to report!
sparrer - hope you're as OK as you can be.Back after a very long break!0 -
It's soooo hard to think of these at the mo, which is dreadful as there are people in this world who have so little.
Dundee Doll I am pleased to hear you had a new exciting job direction at five-0. Maybe I can follow in your steps....
Bag puss your day sounds fabtastic.
Tell Raffles I give next doors a saucer of milk which is mainly water, and they don't seem to know yet. :rotfl:
PK I am so jealous of your passed out style sleeping. Hope you get the mess up sorted.
My pleasures today are:
A lovely Indian meal
Lunch with DD and a lovely chat
Relaxing day
Cleaned the bathroom tiles, they were sparkly
