  • Is it still the tail end of that hurricane?

We're up to hear (hand above head) with rain, but more is forecast-of course .

Yesterday, inbetween the rain showers, the sky turned a funny colour (a lovely blue),and a big ball of fire lit up the sky!shock/horror. 'Twas nice while it lasted....
Despite the dismal weather, quite a few of my tomatoes are ripening, thank goodness, along with other veg that need to be picked soon.

    Hello all

The results are in! DD got 4 B's (if you include General Studies) and her place at East 15 is confirmed :T Truth to tell, i am a little disappointed that there isn't an A in there, as we were led to believe that there should be, but she is thrilled and can move on so i have no right to let my expectations ruin her day. Obviously, i will not be letting her know that, and i am pretty much over it anyway.

Welcome back tealady - and to all our missing people, come out come out wherever you are.

Ampersand, i did one of those courses a few years ago, it was great fun and i was bang to rights so couldn't complain

    Pleasures for last few days

    1. results - above
    2. cleaner came
    3. work ok
    4. fish pie
    5. dad ok
    6. caught up with the honourable woman and who do you think you are
    7. made wheat free sugar free banana bread, it was ok. used pureed apples as sugar substitute. Surprisingly effective

Going out to celebrate later. Have a good evening
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Afternoon

Sparrer - Am so sorry to hear your news sending hugs your way

VJsmum - Well done to your DD, great achievement

    Pleasures for yesterday,
    1. Made a chicken and bacon pie but topped with scrunched up filo pastry so no yum on top but was quiet yummy.
    2. Even though missed the bus to work still got there in time. Driver could see me in middle of road trying to get across but didn't stop . Decent commute home as well.
    3. Cleaned a bit more of my new office, it almost looks presentable. Discovered that if I sit still at my computer working for long periods the lights go out as on a motion sensor anyone looking in will think I am mad as I have to keep waving to activate them again.
    4. Last day of DD cat sitting neighbours 5 cats. This is a pleasure for me as I have done about half of the visits due to her new work commitments. They are lovely but long haired and have discovered that I am allergic to them, lots of scratching and wheezy breathing going on. Only took me a week to realise what was making me feel ill :o
    5. Low spend day just some cashew nuts and dried berry mix to nibble on in the office

Hugs to all who need them

Guess what my cat brought in?

I've got this tom who I got from a rescue and hes a big cat with a big personality. Anyway, I leave the back door open a bit whilst he runs in and out.
Today I was in my lounge and all I could hear was a screaming sound and loads of thuds from the kitchen. I ran through and guess what he'd brought in and it was massive?

Well done, Miss VJsmum :) x

    1. Sunshine most of the day....and when we got caught in a major downpour...
    2. We had the big town museum to stroll around in :)

    3. Sensibly used my 20% off voucher at M&$ for things I needed, so ladies unmentionables it was then! (sorry BoP ;)

    4. I told DD that I didn't want to hear the expression "I'm losing the will to live" whilst we were out mooching around shops, and bless her, she complied :)

    5. Maybe the chocolate donut helped smoothe the way....
    6. I've ordered a book on Greek myths (of course, for school and home use) for 1p plus postage.
    7. DD & I went into Lakeland and bought something I never thought I needed until I went in there, yet another kitchen implement that does 5 jobs in one. Another thing to be tucked away until we find the dream house/flat again......
    8. Looking forward to meeting up with some chums tomorrow morning for a cuppa whilst the children frolic.
    9. Have finally gone through my memory sticks and have moved some useful bits onto the computer!
    10. We were impressed by the new foot measuring devices in Clarks, and even more overwhelmed that DD came away with a pair of trainers in size 4!
  • Thanks DD.

    1. More work completed nearly the weekend and mixed in I was looking for roles but nothing yet - soon I’m sure, I did read somewhere this is the worst and busiest week to look for a new role.:)
    2. We keep our ferrets inside and have a few free roam, they got the winds under their tails last night and this morning I came down to the fridge door open and the remnants of a burger across the floor for their midnight munchies! In turn it meant I had to cook any safe meat left which was a chicken joint I’m glad they didn’t snaffle.
    3. To finish cooking we have to go to Mr T as need well oil for roasties and well things for the fridge like milk.
    4. Just sat back down from pleasure 3 as RTC’s were very giving, both DH and I spent time de packaging and portioning up a lot of meat, and everything else, had 16 coupons for the full price bits as well.:p, in between sorting the roast.
    5. While I type this 3 chicken carcass’s and bones etc are in the pressure cooker, I will have the stock and the bones will be ground up for the animals into a soup, and while that’s bubbling away in the cauldron.
    6. I’m watching Goodwill hunting as I’ve never seen it before.
    7. Choux cream buns for dessert yellow label due to squishedness.
  • Hi all, hope you all had a good day.

Half a day volunteering at charity shop ( was supposed to be a full day but I swapped shifts). Didn't buy anything, for once.

Planned on taking children out this afternoon but rain stopped play, so stayed in, played games and I cleaned the kitchen (again).

Planning on cleaning and polishing front door tomorrow. I should paint it really but will wait til the autumn.

Also plan to declutter kitchen drawers which are full of stuff that doesn't even belong in the kitchen!
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:

Hullo all! Welcome to new faces, enquiring grins to the familiar ones - DfV briefly reappearing to say thank you for the good stuff before I fall into the 50s on holiday...

    OS pleasures
Listening to a toddler showing off his superhero costume & his sister eventually Taking Steps - with a hand firmly over his mouth!

Watching grown ups trying to resist the really big teddy bears at Costco. Very few manage not to pause for a hug. (Me, I want the life size skeleton for youngest, whose drawing reveals a sketchy grip on anatomy.)

Making jam with son & happily discussing explosives, white phosphorus, & other good explosive stuff. Not sure it's what Cooking With Mother is supposed to be about but should set up an interesting chat with grandfather sometime.

Watching bilberries gradually surrender their juice. The jelly will be *superb* in colour. However, barely three eggcupsful, so Bramleys ho! Still be smashing jam.

My holiday has started. So has an outbreak of unexpected sneezes but so what? I can spend all day in bed if that will help.

Montalbano by the armful from a charity shop! The holiday long in anticipation, fraught in preparation, now *seems* blessed.

There's a curtain of beans drying. I can smell green - and I anticipate all sorts of pulse-based goodness!

Big big hugs to all who need them (I do love how we watch out for each other, here), all the best for back to school (teachers especially!) & should be back early September.
