Lost a long post yesterday, so going to try and put 2 days together again
1. Made my scrumptious low carb 'bread' (recipe at end, it's scrummy)
2. Tonight I cooked (!!!!) a gorgeous vegetable soup for dinner, mummykins is not wellbut
to me being able to cut up some veg, put it in the slow cooker and switch it on without being told off
3. DD and I have had a couple of mooching about days, much needed.
4. We watched the Indiana Jones film last night, she was cackling away at all the gags
5. Weighed myself at the doctor's surgery when popping in to pick up a prescription and, whilst incredibly slow, I am losing weight....
6. Have ordered a fab book for 1p which DD and I will enjoy reading and I will also use it at school.
7. Finished reading a couple of fablibrary books.
8. Found some things I was sure I had lost whilst tidying up, phew!
9. As daddykins is also feeling unwell, I was also allowed to do some washing! I know it seems a bit 'sad' to be excited about washing and cooking, but when you're in your 40s and are treated as a naughty child a lot of the time.....little things please me
10. Pleased that my school is completely closed this week as it means I won't feel that I should just 'pop in' and do more work. I'll do it at home instead and continue having fun with DD0 -
Good evening, here's me today:
1. Good night sleep so well awake by 7 am
2. Trip to marks to get some food with all the vouchers. Discovered that they had a lot of YS stuff first thing in the morning, at 8 am! So bought non YS essentials including coffee, tea etc...to the level required for voucher, added quite a few extra veg etc in YS, the bill still came below £25!
3. Lunch was leftover soup made with yesterday leftover stew, and it was delicious.
4. Watching martial arts documentaries with DS
5. Dinner with DS and DD tonight, and nice evening with them.
Tomorrow early start and babysitting work so must sleep now. Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Quickly with some Monday pleasures as I'm on Tuesday morning but don't have usual mad rush as I'm attending a medical appointment with OHHH, so will be at work a bit late......have cleared it with the manager though
Monday started cold and wet and with noisy possums shrieking across the house.....but the skyline on the way home on train was just beautiful, such a clear and pretty sky....with a huge big moon coming out later.
Work was fine, came away with a haul of bread, a sandwich and some pies.
Continued in my Holby fest!
Laughing when OH had a text from DD1" please come and get me at S....., she has fallen asleep and it's rather awkward!".... So her dad went and rescued her from her sleepy friends house where she'd went to study/ have dinner!
Catch up later x0 -
Another busy day here! These are my pleasures:
1) A lie in.
2) Tomato soup for lunch.
3) Enjoyed reading a magazine.
4) Got smaller son's new high school blazer. Unfortunately it is one of those with the school crest embroidered on so can only be ordered from one small shop. On the plus side, apparently it is made from recycled plastic bottles!
5) Stopped off on the way home to look in a little stream and it is absolutely swarming with crayfish!!! I've never seen one before but we got 6 in about 5 minutes. Going back tomorrow properly prepared with welliees and a bucket.
6) Looked up online how to get a crayfish licence and it is very straightforward.
7) Ordered some handles for my ancient TV cabinet (formerly a wireless cabinet and £20 from British Heart Foundation a few years back). It has only had one handle since I've had it!
8) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
9) Had tea at mum and dad's and we took some courgette brownies.
10) Have nearly finished printing out smaller son's birthday thank you cards. Had to re-install MS Office and now the printer is "spooling" but not actually printing....
11) Went out to watch the Perseids from 10 - 10.45 and saw 5 or 6 good ones before the moon got too bright.0 -
Almond bread recipe - it's quite 'short' like a scone, have made as a loaf and as scones. Gluten and yeast free.
60g ground almonds (I just whizz up almonds in the blender)
120g millet flour (probably any gluten-free flour would work)
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
4 eggs
3 tbsp water
Mix dry ingredients together, then add the wet. Pour into a lined loaf tin and cook for 25 mins at 200c. Cool on a rack and enjoy
P.S. Would be rubbish to make sandwiches with! I eat with marmiite and cream cheese or dunk into soup.0 -

Morning All!
Lovely day here. Going to try to work in the garden and stay out of the supermarket! Try not to have a Spendy day! (Excellent word Marmite!)
Kittikins thanks for the recipe. Sounds lovely.
Yesterday.....
1. Lots of decluttering. Clothes to the clothes bank, stuff to the bin and recycling. Good start!
2. New teachers planner arrived from Amazon. Very stylish. Love a new book. Full of good intentions that I will be a proper grown up, organised teacher this year. Wonder how long that will last?.........
3. Found my stash of empty shoe boxes in the cellar, so first project with one of my groups in Sept will be Samaritans Purse Shoe box Appeal. Decluttering and useful!
4. DS1 birthday, so we went to Pizza Express for a meal before he went off to the pub with his friends. (Used Nectar Double up points to reduce the bill!).
5. Think I have discovered why the fridge still isn't cooling properly.........need to kick the bottom of the door to make sure it is sealed! Pleased I have worked out what's wrong, but a new fridge is required when we return from hols.
Have a lovely day. Love HE x0 -
