A collection:
1. A beautifully roasted turkey, yum, didn't let Dr C. do this. Loads left, time to strip from the bones and freeze soon.
2. Aforementioned visit from DD, DGC and spaniels. DSonIL kept a low profile, he took the dogs out on a very long walk. We have fields and grassy spaces a few yards from the house, that eventually lead down to a Beth Spaniel-magnet of a stream.
Dog news: Little Walter is gradually filling out, but is still built on racing lines although almost as tall as Beth now. At 11 months, he is still chewing, it tends to be things that are left within his reach at night -time. DD wondered if Beth was bullying him a little, unseen by the humans, and if the chewing was done as stress release.
His latest chew was DGD's spectacles, left on the couch accidentally. TG for the NHS.
He is adorable though. He hasn't seen me for some time and didn't really remember me, but Beth did, bringing me the ball she found on her big long walk with Human Dad with little whimpery pleasure noises.
She ALWAYS finds a ball on a long walk, her radar for them is phenomenal.
Walter had his first visit to the seaside yesterday, he was a bit small to cope with seawater last summer. Fortunately he didn't do what Beth did when Dr C took her to the beach at a similar age; drink seawater and throw up all over the rugs in the car later on.
3. Finishing off the Estonian baking with help from DGD, who loves cooking. I think the family recipes will be safe in her hands. A sense, even as I was doing this, that I was giving her memories that would linger. Good. DGS enjoyed tucking in to them, I enjoyed the chocolate Easter nest and lovely little presentation basket he made at school. We often made these nests, with senior school for him later this year this may be the last he makes. I hope not.
4. Pedalling down to the shops in the sun, without a coat. Glad of long sleeves and a tunic top though. A wide range of clothing on display in public from lightweight fleeces to t-shirts and shorts. There was a sharp easterly wind in my face cycling home, and I thought of those lightly dressed, walking in the same direction.
5. No chocolate from DD -though from DGS - but an aloe vera plant, already sprouting mini plants. Now installed on kitchen windowsill to be ready for any minor burns. Hopefully it will stay intact. I bought rubber guards for my oven shelving and they have saved me a few singes, I do recommend them, along with gauntlet or extra sized oven gloves.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Back for more.....
DD - hugs to your DD, she's making a brave decision, good for her x
Frith - I'm in awe of your allotment, it looks amazing
More pleasures....
1. DD and mummykins were learning Spanish earlier whilst I was upstairs procrastinating....DD learns it at school and mummykins wanted DD's help to learn how to say a few things
2. DD was very enthusiastic and decided that we should have a Spanish dinner - so promptly found a delicious recipe which she cooked (with my mum standing by reading out the recipe). I can't believe we haven't had it before, it's going to be a favourite I think!
3. She also made an amazing apricot cake, nomnom.
4. Mummykins had a chat with me, asking if I was sure I wanted to move into such a small flat and asked the following - would I rather have a big house and lots of space with the resultant mortgage like I had before, or the tiny flat with no outdoor space and no mortgage, just my loan to them to repay.
No brainer: flat it is!! DD and I are so excited about the prospect of our adventure - and
5. She even sorted out yet more toys and books for the charity bag this evening0 -
1. A me morning, shower/hair/facial/mani/pedi/and skin now has a healthy glow. I don't sit out in the sun, (I get bored too easily!) but a moisturised self tan once or twice a week does the trick and I often get asked if I've been away
2. Another portion of hm broccoli and Stilton soup followed by a hot cross bun for lunch. Had to use butter as I've run out of rf spread - it's no hardship!
3. Phone call from DM, she mentioned she's not had a hot cross bun this year. Also mentioned DB was going to visit her this morning so I made a hurried phone call to him and caught him just before he left home. My good deed for the day
4. Phone call from a friend who is moving later this year so not doing much except tidying in her garden, she's offered me some planters which I gratefully accepted. I might get all of the plants out by the end of the month!
5. Broke my record on the treadmill and walked 2 miles today - not all at once of course. Also burned 240 calories, really pleased with myself
Sweet dreams0 -
Sorry for early extra 5, but
1. Inland sea haar again at 5h, & o/s with new-to-me m/w coffee and last 2 HC buns. It's a good start.
2. Keeping camomile, lemon-scented geranium and rosemary plants at finger-tips out back. Love rubbing my fingers in them and sniffing.
3. Dawn chorus, interrupted by early phone, Missing lunettes lens found in cricket pavilion! Means another journey, but still better than alternative. Hooray!
4. Back in to em from Vicar - husband made her guess takings, and she couldn't go high enough:-)
5. em just found from 1st-y besty schoolfriend re:
http://www.nelsonpark.school.nz/1/pages/7-100-jubilee and is & going? Doubt it, can't save for that only 2-3 months later, with France to do also.
She's given up-to-date no. Now going to phone,

It's a short week for everyone now:-) and Wow! - felicitations DD!...whose dd2 will find her way. It's the only one she needs follow, ultimately.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Today has been a day most industrious and most satisfying my list has just been all ticked off!
Up early ....but no work to go to , yay!
Boys at work, girls back to school and house all to myself , yay!
UK radio on Iplayer and off I went around the house, kitchen sparkles, flowers rearranged, office reorganised and so much paper shredded, laundry reorganised, washings done and hung on clothes horses, bathrooms cleaned and downstairs all hoovered.
Walked up to post office, thankful I took a brolly as a heavy shower came on. Popped a bag of stuff into Salvos . Told by shop assistant I have a lovely accent. I get this often ....when I'm not being confused as Irish!
Back home and watched a programme I'd missed by falling asleep early the other night. Wrote some letters whilst it was on...they were on my list too!
Front and back porches swept and tidied...begone spider webs and autumn leaves.
Made a kind of satay chicken ....bit of a chuck it all in the pan affair but it actually worked and tasted rather nice.
So a most pleasant day off for me. Enjoyed my own company but nice to have everyone back in for tea. In my email to my family I said I hoped that when they have their own children they look back on their childhood Easters with affection and carry on the tradition. Put my new to me wooden bunny on my now very tidy office desk.
Have a happy Tuesday0 -
Morning - meant to be working but just can't get into it.
Might treat myself to a bath and a catch up of the Archers, marking can wait - ish. Someone has threatened to Skype me this afternoon, so need to not be sat here in my PJ's
Just caught up with your lovely pleasures but far too many for lots of comment, except
Ampersand - phew  glad you are OK.
LFS - happy birthday
Frith - lovely picture.
So, here was us last week
I am person in Pink top at front of boat. MiL is safe and dry at the back
Pleasures for the week
Look at that sky - that's what we had for 5 of our 6 days, it rained on the last day but we coped.
Lovely lovely time, 4 mph, no internet no phone no emails no marking
No rows, well much. OH and I had a brief one trying to keep everyone happy
Despite at times being "spectre at the feast" MiL for the most part behaved and I think enjoyed it but it's sometimes hard to tell.
Some time for me, early morning, front of boat, my book 2 cups of tea and mist on the canal, everyone else in bed. Ampersand - we went on the Canal de Garonne and the River Baise, visiting Nerac and Agen and some very small beautiful villages
Early morning croissant shopping with OH, and a cheeky coffee in the market in Nerac on Saturday morning.
Some of the night skies - bright, bright starry starry nights and the full moon hanging in the trees
playing Uno and Rummy and MiL whooping our a$$es at one point
Informative boatyard manager who gave us a history of Nerac and surrounding villages - one of which was the basis for "chocolat"
A good flight out, but a better trip back by train and Eurostar (I love Eurostar), stopping in Paris for an omelette, salad and vin blanc as only Les Francais can do.
Getting caught between boat and jetty - the final day it rained and everything was slippery - one leg went one way and the other leg the other  The pleasure is not that I discovered I can do the splits 40 years after the last time I did them, but that I only damaged my leg and didn't crush or drown all of me. DS was driving and would have felt terrible if he'd done me more damage, even though it wasn't his fault but that of a dirty dog owner making a slippery jetty more slippery :eek:
Seoul on Thursday - hope I can walk better by then.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Let’s get ready to Grumble
Just checked that the wind is blowing and the rain is forcing on the south face of the salt Mine. Mind you if you missed it, I had the problems with the yellow thing, but did it no shine fors yous yestdi! (That it was sunny yesterday Sparra!!!)
As I rushed out with the bucket and spade yestdi, I missed the cakes! And that tattie needs a peeler, get it chipped. Isis. He needs to be like Raffles and beam up. Oh, no, he would chase toads all over! Gosh SS, nearly misread that. Kind of went an instead of or. Silly me. Spring cleans. More cake. Egg cress sarnies!! DD turns into a Cheshire cat. Nightmares. Gosh ares you BoPsie Frith? Thinks more magnets, lizards and magnetrons. Cold turkey. Flat it is. Short walk. Boo gar, Mhags a day off. Barging about as well! It's called the Heads! Fishheads have a saying for it.
5 Raffles inspected the car yesterday, ensuring all the bits were ok. BoPsie still sore after playing do you want a brush with him. Raffles won, and now holds onto the brush for a second day. No problem, as BoP cleaned his eye. Cats do suffer this time of year from a slight hay feverish, but mostly a tear ducted runny eye. Oh, and to beat hay fever, always use a little local honey. It has the gruff bits that cause it in its goodness, as well as a few toe nails to curdle it.
4 I hope I has not puts you lot off. Well it is earth day, and boo gar me, it is still here. Due to explode into the sun in around 7 billion years, but in the mean time, enjoy it.
3 Got me claw buns this term, with added crunch, so I am off now to eat them.
2 May have to go to Cromer to get some well dressed ones later in the year. Haven’t had a dressed one fresh since the Fishmonger in the High Street Cleethorpes. Mum BoP used to get one or two a year from them. Proper good stuff.
1 Put the pencil down now.0 -
VJsmum your holiday looks amazing - I have a small property near Agen which is a must-see town. Did you try the prunes?
mhags well done for ticking things off your list - mine just gets longer daily (I should be making dog biscuits atm, but they'll get done by the end of the day....:o)
& next time you're in the area I'll come along and support the good cause
DD adding my two penn'orth to others who support your DD's decision, if she's not happy she'll not achieve her ambitions. She must do what she feels comfortable with. Wishing her luck whatever she decides to do
Right, must go and make culinary delicacies for the mutt (ie liver biscuits) so I can cross No 1 off my list. Have sunny day whatever the weather0 -
VJsmum - ouch! Hope your poor leg feels better soon.
1) Not a bad sleep, at least by my current standards.
2) After some debate with the train ticket company they finally accepted that it was their fault and not mine that I bought the wrong ticket for tomorrow, and they've agreed to give me all my money back and not just part of it as they originally offered. Correct ticket is now purchased!
3) Feeling very anxious and restless, so I put the restlessness to use by descaling the bathroom sink and dismantling the broken chest of drawers from the bedroom.
4) Cuddles with Isis when I got back from the shops - I think she saw my travel bag and thought I'd already gone, poor confused critter!
5) Pub quiz tonight, although not too much apple wobbleade will be consumed as I've got an early start tomorrow.
I'll try to keep up with posts while I'm away but may not post again until I get back. Have a good week, all!Back after a very long break!0 -
