  • VJsmum ... well done to your DD :T

MHags thinking of your mum ... hope treatment goes well x
I have had inserts from podiatrist in my shoes for months and the pain has subsided ... until the warm weather and as soon as I put on a pair of flat soled sandals the pain started again. Don't know what I'm going to wear through the summer!

RE Long hair .... looks ok on women of any age if well kept and no grey root/badger effect, but when men get to a certain age they should definitely chop it off!!

    Pleasures for the weekend:

    1. lovely sun got lots of washing done and dried on line

    2. lawn cut ... first of year here too ampers ... knee deep in clover! Think there is more weed and moss than actual grass but its green and looks tidy now

    3. DS out all day sat and all day sun but popped in with bunch of flowers on Saturday for early MDay pressie. I think this is the first year I have not had to buy my own ie give money to DS to get me a card/pressie .... ex-OH never gave him any money despite me giving DS money to get fathers day card ... so I can understand/empathise with comments from you both kittikins and frith

    4. DS cooked tea on sunday when he got in... garlic spatchcock chicken from ald! was nom nom! plus toffee and pecan roulade for pud... lovely treat, and then DS surprised me with another pressie ... paloma faith new CD

    5. lovely chat to DM on phone. Looking forward to DP's coming down at easter

Have a good week everyone x

Now I am sat here eating the homemade jam tart, as you know I do enjoy a decent tart, wandering about some of the BoPettes reading my scribbling’s and scratching’s twice and no getting any nonsense out of it. Now it is quite easy, just read the car registration from DD and you will note that she has got it spot on. Now where was I.

Ah, homemade Jam Tart, with curdled blackcurrant Jam.

Enough of this nonsense. And perhaps what will happen.

DFV you have ot read again and againa and again to fathom out some sense

5 Made the infamous now Sunday Curry yesterday, and as you know, if you want to be fed well, you just get your just desserts. And we had, for the thirst time in eons, BoPsie’s Freshly made custard for the homemade apple pie, with hand rubbed pastry by BoP.

4 As you are aware, BoPsie won at Scrabble last evening, so is within one victory of a shout at winning three on the bounce. Her sip is there, but do I give a monkey’s fine fiddle at this moment. Yes, I could …

3 As I was testing the yellow thing this weekend, except of curse for those too near the arctic circle, where winter is still breathing, we made our own 99’s, with cornets and flakes from the Coop. and Winstones ice-cream from the common. So chilling and so MSE. 99’s on the Common are now £1.40. So we go chirpy chirpy cheap cheap!

2 Night, after fixing the events for 19th May. Yes, me and BoPsie is off to the Old Vic. Now & avert your eyes and ears, as this makes those semi bearded folk look like a schoolboys choir! A tale of prostitution by the West Yorkshire Opera, performed by the Tiger Lilies. Put the matches down Peter! Pure Berlin Punk Cabaret! I would link, but I nows how tender you BoPettes are like. BoPsie is maid of sterner stuff!! Anyway, was on about this evening. The treader hits the road for another season

1 You can only be a token, if you are there to make the numbers up.

Brechtian Punk Cabaret. You know you are going to use a search engine that pays no tax to look it up!

&y-longhair has just chignon-ed hers up, before skipping to town with an initially plausible Natwest email...it isn't, so this is an ALERT FOR OTHER NATWESTIES.

I've just printed it out, as here[quickly obvious it's a scam, 'Dear Customer' but the import makes one sit up WHAAA...? I won't even now check ny a/c online until I've shown this to Branch.

My mum comes from the north east, Mcculloch, but has so few relations that she rarely goes back. Have you heard of Rushyford?

Here are my pleasures for today, so far:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Smaller son had a good day at school.

    3) Took brother to his physio appointment.

    4) Went round all the charity shops and brother bought a small golf club to teach sons (£2.50!) I got a skirt from Coast, a beaded mohair jumper from M and S and a jacket for bigger son.

    5) Lunch made by brother.

    6) Went to the wood to get some bags of bark chippings for the allotment paths.

    7) Went to a meeting with smaller son's home/school link worker about his anxiety.
  • Lovely to read everyone else's posts.

    1. No traffic at all this morning. I do wonder why, but it gets me to work bright and early.
    2. A better than expected day - I don't like change and my usual colleague is still off, so they are borrowing people from all sorts of departments to fill in and it's actually been a real pleasure to work with them again.
    3. A large salad for lunch. I seem to have made it from bits and bobs lurking in the bottom of the fridge and the everlasting salmon from our Mothers' Day tea on Saturday.
    4. A chat with DD after work instead of coming into an empty house.
    5. Using up some green Thai curry paste for tea.

CCP... Landlord has been in person? (Blimey, unicorn as well?!)

I wouldn't get too excited - I emailed him today, just to confirm what we discussed for the records, and have had no response, so it looks like normal service is resumed already!

    1) Not a bad sleep, with a hot Isis bottle snuggled against my leg for much of the night. :D

    2) Grey, gloomy and soggy weather for much of the day, but the yellow thing made an appearance by mid-afternoon - nice job, Raffles! :T

    3) A phone call from my veg box company, offering a free bottle of wine if I order from them again. Of course, having just bought a whole case of wine I really don't need any more, but I was about to order another veg box anyway so I wasn't going to say no to a perfectly good freebie!

    4) Finished the main body of my essay, and just need to do the conclusion now: I'll try and put something together in my lunch-break tomorrow, when I'll hopefully be feeling more alert than I am this evening.

    5) Macaroni cheese with bacon and tomatoes for dinner tonight. (Made with RM cheese sauce, I admit, but it was on SO and at least it means I'll end up with something edible! :o)
Back after a very long break!

    :D

If I walk out of my house, cross the field and go along the footpath, then through the gate onto the A167 footpath, then walk up the A167 northwards for a couple of miles, past Woodham Cottages, the next hamlet I reach is Rushyford.

The Eden Arms there is a Shearings coach trip destination now, and near to the Eden Arms is a day nursery.
Otherwise nothing much has changed, other than a new road layout bypassing Chilton before linking back up with the original A167 outside Ferryhill.

    Small world.

    2) ds was a total gentleman to dd about flight fret. Soooo proud

sparrer - sweetpeas! Some years I try to grow them - and fumble. We used to have selfseeding sweetpeas that grew in one corner year in year out, but alas they didn't survive the rotavator. Lots of flowers is more fun than a skimpy handful.
Kittikins - Vindolanda is ace (as is all Hadrian's Wall - Eng Heritage membership well worth every tuppence!), as is Arbeia (over in Geordieland!) - by all means watch for locations, but oh he is such a *twit* - never let an MP raffle on about history!
    supersaver - I'm sensing you're a longhair too?!
Frith - Miracles happen! As those mothers day cards got to you without him getting to you! I do admire your relationship with your brother, as well as being in awe of your prowess with charity shops. Hoping you are not strained or damaged by lugging bark chippings or by school meeting.
westywoodpecker - your menfolk abandon footwear in a heap too? Mine finally cooperated with the single Mothers Day photo I wanted at six today! Flowers & wine etc - well done - you've trained them beautifully!
mcculloch - what I saw of Wheatley Green I liked - how wonderful to recognise faces! Dead right to enjoy eye cream & hair as long as you enjoy it. Hurrah small world - we need more neighbourliness!
mhagster - you've a lanky working with you? Very convenient for the tall shelves if your knees allow you to fold down easily in exchange!. Does your podiatrist means no more electric blue tape? Thank you for clarifying the cube & all the very best to your mum & the drivers!
Skint yet again - I pick summer shoes that accept inserts. Converse type things usually. There are some male longhairs who manage to wear it with style, but all too often not. However I'd make the Shirt Test a priority - unless a panel of 10 women is *unanimous* you may go shirtless, you should stay covered. Well done DS - not sure where he's learned Mothers Day rules, but he has learned Well!
BoP - have a stunning time with la Palmer - that she's Mrs.Neil Gaiman adds to her magnificence in my lexicon.
Ampersand - a chignon - how glamourous & entirely a propos for you!
Patchwork - some mornings there is no traffic & it's astonishing! A real unexpected gift of time. Glad borrowed collegaues are welcome and familiar!
CCP - and vanished before you could get a halter on him... A free bottle of wine with the veg? Well, there's a persuasive technique! My family regard macaroni cheese (without bacon) as being a goods start, but look for the meat. With bacon, suddenly I'm a smashing cook!
DD - yikes what a weekend but hurrah DS & DD civilised, Saint Saens on organ & yes - should I meet the bloke who put mothers day & clocks forward on the same day There Will Be Words... Up to square 31/36!

    OS Pleasures recently
Did a swoop around cities & picked up three boxes of china - made a Scottish mother's day & we'll set the rest afloat on the bay.

One little cherry tree blossoming! Great big bubbles of white, lanterns in the monday morning gloom.

Beautiful young man racing along, long & sleek & smartly suited - no idea why, but a pleasure to watch.

River very quiet, but banks glowing with varying amounts of spring green.

Introduced a colleague to the delight of Waitrose coffee. He'd not seen a coffee machine that complex before!

Big hugs to those who need them, onwards from Mothers Day towards Easter & just look out for cherry blossom bubbling!

    1. Back at uni - dull lectures, dull seminars but a couple of good chats with chums. We're all a bit shell-shocked to be back for varying reasons....No word from uni yet as to the support that's going to be put in place (ha!) for me, so I've sent a couple of emails asking to meet people.

    2. Bought my daddykins some nice beers (well, the kind of stuff he likes, not my bag) to say thank you for (a) putting up with me recently and (b) looking after DD so well last week.

    3. DD's favourite toothpaste was on offer, as was a funky electric toothbrush that she could decorate with stickers; always a winner!

    4. Phonics Kitty wowed the crowds at uni :) We had to take some phonics ideas in, so she had to come!

    5. Cheekily asked the Starrbucks chap if I could have the remains of the frappucino that they normally just throw down the sink after making a serving, and to my surprise, he said yes! I got probably a massive serving shared between 2 cups rather than the medium sized one I'd paid for :)

    6. Driving home in daylight, even though it was quite late.
