Frith, didn't see your post, Norton is not too far, though Sedgefield is nearer, only about 5 miles away.
The School House, is now the nursery premises, or if not it would be a neighbouring house, as that row is called School Cottages. (Though, checking on the nursery website, they may have relocated recently.)
The company is still called Eden Nurseries, and has expanded greatly in recent years.

For your uncle to have owned a pharmacy in Bishop, it must have been one on the main shopping route into the town - the only one I'm aware of that exists now, other than Boots, is a small local chain - DD once worked for the Shildon branch.

Tealady, must have been scary being abandoned at the Eden Arms, for all that Chilton is just up the road, it is a bit in the middle of nowhere. (As the hotel reviews are fond of stating..!)
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Hello all - thank you for the DD congrats, she is very happy

Kittikins - Glad it wasn't just DD and granddad at the dog training. We were in the park today being very amused by a dog called Ralph who would not do as he was told.:D People don't understand depression do they? And even one depressive may struggle to understand anothers, such a lonely illness. HUgs.
Mhagster - wow 32degrees. so lucky to bring tea home with you
McC - I know, Alison Steadman is someone I could see DD being like in years to come. Both are great character actresses - her school report just received said the drama teacher could see her as a "talking heads" character. Ooh eye cream for the top lip? might have to try that.
Ampersand - what a lovely moment with the butterfly
Frith - I love Shrewsbury. OH and I lived there for a very short time so have fond memories. We have said we may go back eventually.
CCP - Had to google Feijoada, sounds yummy I will have to try
SS1000 - OH giving up smoking and not spending. Phew! I gave up smoking "one day at a time - I will not smoke today". That was 25 years ago, I have never had a cigarette in my mouth since - though I quite enjoy walking along behind someone who is smoking :o
PK - I love Magnolia trees. I planted one years ago after having a miscarriage at this time of year, as a kind of memorial. When we moved I bought and planted another. Strangely they don't make me feel sad, I think it is because they are a sign of spring.
VickyA - I have mount ironmore too - hope you got it done
PQ - ooh beekeeping, how exciting.
Dfor V - Vintage cars? Nah, i'd rather have a new one, with heating! :D
Sparrer - ooh lemon cheese, gissa bit :p
Westy - Mine haven't left home yet, but I celebrate when we are all in together. I can't remember the last time we had a family dinner.
Skint - how nice to get a spontaneous mother's day pressie.
BoP - Is Bopsie's custard nicely lumpy too?
DD - poor DDs DD. :( A few years ago I took a group of students to Dubai. Only it was a group of students minus one, who couldn't get on the plane. I had to leave him at the departure gate at Heathrow at 10 o'clock at night. Nightmare
Tealady - ooh DD and I want to go to Miss Saigon
Mummymaria - hello, welcome to the loveliest thread on the board.

    So pleasures for Sunday

    1. A girl called Jack and Elbow CD for mummy's day. Just what I wanted - and to make sure I got it, I picked them up off the shelf in Sainsbugs and gave them to OH a couple of weeks ago.:D
    2. the most delicious bacon sandwich cooked by DD
    3. DS team won their footie match 11 -0. One of the other team was so disgusted with their performance he just left at half time:rotfl:
    4. Clocks changed
    5. Lovely curry out with family and bezzie mate and her kids

    And yesterday

    1. Unexpected final teaching session with favourite group, such fun
    2. Nice pootly morning at home, bit of work, bit of tidying
    3. 5:2 going ok, managed really well on 500 calories yesterday - didn't really notice till DS baked a Victoria Sandwich. I had a slice first thing this morning. The weight is coming off - probably 5lb in 2 weeks :T
4 My new Elbow CD is fab fab fab
    5. Inventoried the freezer last week, choosing dinner was like choosing from a menu. Crispy fish for the family and a sea bream fillet for me (no chips, lots of veg)

    And today

    1. Another wonderful sunny day with some warmth in the sun. The car is covered in pink blossom and the magnolia is out
    2. This is a bit tragic, but the cleaning power of the new dishwasher tablets I bought is so much better than the job lot of cheap ones I had.
    3. Watched an episode of Shetland in the bath - via iplayer on ipad
4 Walk in the sunshine with OH and a cup of tea in the park, before
    5. Going to DD's school for parent's evening. Maybe not such a pleasure as it wasn't all glowing as it normally is. There was criticism but only in the sense that they want her to do the best she can. But I knew there would be a melt down and there was, in the car on the way home. The pleasure is that we have been telling her these things, but she won't listen to us so we hope that now it will galvanise her. Another pleasure is that all this is because teacher's are pushing her to achieve A grades rather than settling for Bs. A further pleasure is that since I realised she may be a bit Asperger's - y I understand the fallouts better.
6 Paid the balance on the Glastonbury tickets. Can't wait.:j
7 oh and booked the flight to Seoul for more teaching at the end of April. Which will pay for 6. and I get to spend a day in Amsterdam, on the way back :T

    Have a lovely evening all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    1. Wore my favourite purple top, the one DH doesn't like, and got a compliment on it :)
    2. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the ginger and mango cheese I put in my salad. It was a case of using it up or binning it but although I'm not usually a fan of fruity cheese, it was lovely.
    3. Went to see the old colleague after work and went for a little walk rather than just sitting and chatting. The spring gardens looked lovely in the sunshine.
    4. Clothes on the line to dry during tomorrow.
    5. Halloumi and roasted veg for tea. I'm still trying to use up a jar of harissa I bought to make this a month ago.

Wishing you all a sunny day tomorrow.

BoPsie, stormed into an early lead this evening, as she took advantage of BoP poor play, to get in a shout of one more and three on the bounce. A slender lead of 136 vs 107, as BoPsie payed the Q and X.

BoP struggle to get close, a BoPsie plied on the pressure, with double word after double word. BoP was fed his wobbleade and saw three i's, not only in the rack. Soon the air was cleared and played. A enquire was slammed down for BoP as he took the lead, with half a bag of tiles gone. Play was tense, but BoPsie opened up trebles and BoP took advantage.

With points to pay for, BoPsie emptied the tile bag, as BoP played Loom. Ten points at steak!, BoPsi trailed. She played Slur for 27, but only one blank is on the bored. BoP finished on a Beaut! And the blank counted against BoPsie.

BoPsie remains two wins away from a shout of three on the bounce!

    Good evening everyone :hello:

My rearranged observation from a fortnight ago is tomorrow. I won't be having a meltdown tomorrow, unlike a fortnight ago.

So, I have pleasures for today:

    1) Bought treats & presents for my teaching students who leave tomorrow. Sob! I'll have to remember how to teach...

    2) HM Chicken tikka masala for supper. Only one more portion in the freezer, so at least I'll have next week to top up the freezer.

    3) Went for a little jogette/walk/stagger again. I'm going further and further and staggering less and less.

    4) Catching up with "Rev". Love this programme so much.

    5) Various plans stacking up for the Easter break from school. All looking good!

    Night all xx
