Just in after a wonderful day for x - and for self - being not really, but sort of, part of it all.

    1. A beautiful day, totally yellow thing and wonderful for every one of those 16C.

    2. Introduction to w8rovian joys[finessing 2 papers, mags by splitting sales]for x, but we had to take our free drinks away, to be in time for noted nearby jumble sale.

    3. ...where none of the usual suspects turned up - a bonus. One thing off list, plus a couple of bits that never were anywhere near it....:-)

    4. Thence onto BStE, barely time for a little light duck-feeding,probably sated by 16h and looking fairly 'ho-hum same old' by then, despite w8rovian Grand Mange. Summoned By Bells, moved from gardens to Cathedral, met by T/J then in.
An amazing occasion, stunning music, interior exquisitely restored/completed[after 1200 years], a lightly airy, rather intimate sized place. Archbishop of Canterbury in grand form, very funny, profound, by turns and perfectly pitched. Our Rev. told x yesterday that ABofC was her B in previous post.

    5. Subsequent reception was icing on cake and x acquitted himself more than well. In fact, it's safe to say he, with T, restored the gathering to fullest attention, then spontaneous applause. I was delighted to see x being approached by the Great and the Good in number afterwards and feel sure this is indeed the life marker day he's long needed. Completely and gloriously real and permanent to draw upon for ever more.

vjm - your daughter's news complements this perfectly. What a wonderful threshold for her to be crossing. It should bring great fulfilment apart from any career satisfactions.
ccp - please compliment Ms Isis Diva on her exquisitely mannered epistle. Essay/schmessay. You know what your real homework is now:-) as set by a certain feline. Mhags' Mum is now doing same assignment.

Oh golly, just remembered clocks...another early one demain. Need to eat sth now, then byes.

Truly, a bonne nuit à tout et à tous.

    It's suddenly a quarter past 2!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Went to Shrewbury on the train. The line there is magnificent, esp past the Long Mynd.

Not overly impressed by Shrewsbury, though. The people were very friendly in the shops and one man asked me if I needed directions as soon as I unfolded my map! Also on the train home, 5 students were going to Cardiff (it was the Milford Haven train) and another young man travelling alone asked the football score and they invited him to sit with them for company.

Well, I liked the castle gardens in the sunshine, and the station and various other bits. But I kept comparing it with Hereford or Worcester and thinking "In Worcs, you can actually get down to the river and walk along the bank" or "This bit looks like Hereford but here there is TONS OF TRAFFIC".

I had a good look round one church and came out to find about 500 people standing in the grounds, staring at me, or perhaps the door I had just come through. I knew there was not a wedding taking place so could not work out why they continued to look! Then I looked up and there were people abseiling down the outside of the tower. :-D

    2) I stopped off at Ludlow to get mother's day chocolates.

    3) Enjoyed my pie and chips from the van.

    4) Lots of texts and phone calls from smaller son.

    5) Had a much needed tidy up! The Hornby train was packaged up temporarily so I could hoover my room properly.

    6) Casualty

    7) Sister phoned a couple of days ago to say her wedding dress was ready but she didn't like it. :-/ The textiles teacher where she worked had made it for her. I said I thought this was the one occasion where she should get another one (she is not wearing a wedding dress, just a nice one). Or she should at least get a different one to wear to the evening event as the wedding is just for immediate family. Anyway, today she has bought a new one and is very happy! I was looking at it online while she pondered over it in the shop. :-)

Just about bedtime for me....even birthday girls have to set the alarm again for an early start, it was nice having today off, this is usually the start of my working week.

Up early as per usual! Phoned mum and then my SIL for a catch up.

Washed, washed and ironed and ironed !

A bit of gardening,we planted our winter veggies: cauliflowers, cabbages, Brussel sprouts, parsnips and we've put some spuds in too. Also a new rosemary plant, in a new area that we are going to make a herb garden....a herb at a time!

Made a ( I thought!) very nice dinner. Roast spuds and parsnips ( a gift from DD1 last week ...they were rtc at her work so she bought me them !), chicken breasts which I put a caramelised onion and red wine sauce on ( no one really liked it but me) yummy asparagus and peas. Stuffed!

A quick after dinner walk round the block in almost pitch darkness. Street lighting is so dim over here. We are lucky to have a street lamp outside the house. Still warm tonight . Usually it would be cooling down by now.

Happy Mother's Day to all those yummy mummies! Not MD here until May.

    Have a lovely Sunday x

Morning all and Happy Mothering Sunday to you all wherever you are whether you're a Mum or have got a Mum :)
VJsmum that's wonderful news for your DD, and bittersweet for you. I'm sure she'll be back often with laundry, for a hot Mum's dinner etc., etc ;)

Have a super day (I know I will!) - more to follow :)

    1) A lousy night's sleep, but it at least meant I was up in plenty of time for the grand prix this morning.

    2) NSD and NPD.

    3) Decided I couldn't find even the smallest amount of enthusiasm for essay writing, so gave myself the day off and made a start on the next (and final :j) section of the course instead.

    4) A chillier day than yesterday so I kept the patio door shut, which means I have seen slightly more of Isis: as soon as I open the door she runs and hides, and I won't see her again for several hours. :( (The evidence points towards her last owners abandoning her, so it's not unreasonable of her to decide that she's not going to risk leaving her nice, safe home now she's got one again.)

    5) Easy dinner, from the freezer - HM feijoada and RTC garlic bread.
Back after a very long break!

Sorry to hear you had bad nights sleep CCP. I've started struggling with my sleep lately and find it can ruin the day.

May struggle to find 5 today but Let's think about it:

Sunny weather, birds singing, bees a buzzing

Nice lie in, only slightly spoiled by the devastation of DDs cake baking. How does she manage to make such a mess (will mop the floor in a min as am sticking to it now :rotfl:). Made lovely cakes so all is well that ends well.

Coffee with OH, he was a bit grumbly but has recently given up smoking and also getting to grips with not spending so I can forgive him.

OH hung the washing on the line and took the bins, and is going to iron own shirts - better watch out I'll be redundant soon. :rotfl:

Wore my new jumper I had for my birthday in Feb. really pleased with it. It feels smart and slimming - really pleased.

There that feels better. Not such a bad day after all

Early bed calls after 2 really intense days - but so good, so far, so yellow.

1.just happened. Finished 2 h-g h-m jam jars today. First, rhubarb+ginger, 2nd strawb i.e. brekkie toast, then little brioche taste now, with black green tea. Very satisfying to clean out 2 jars.

    2. Huge mowing, first of year. Took all afternoon[I do neighbour's front, too. His bunnies see to the back] but was good, esp. when over-wintered mower started at first touch.

    3. I can hear the voice of Dudley Sutton, ex-Tinker, in much-loved Lovejoy, reading something on radio. He's an interesting character all told....oh, they've just said 'read by David Osborne'...better insert one of these:o - well, he sounded remarkably like Dudley Sutton. I have a Perez/Shetland lined up still, left over from last week. Will I watch?

    4. Lots of lovely reading on bed waiting.

    5. Church crammed this morning, not just for Mothering Sunday - 4 baptisms! and the adult godmother of one of the littlies. It was terrific. Still can't understand how I arrived an hour early. Did all Spring Forwards on clocks, putah is automatic. Left when it showed 10.34 and thought I'd only just make it....no, Dr Y was solo, trying to get all ready for multi-event, so the extra pair of hands was....handy.

    6. Lewis Hamilton lead first to last. 2 people in &'s orbit are relieved about yesterday's Man U result; & likes Toulon 32 - Toulouse 28. Michalak finally turned up. Next Sunday is when I should be there, Stade Mayol. deffo. Le Crunch face à Leinster, as Eddie Butler has it in beloved Grauniad - '' next Sunday, when Jonny and BOD vie for beatification.''
    #######
As I went to hammer top down on putah, saw bop post below. Might have been boppish OIIIII!!! I heard. Forgot yellow grovelling MERCI's. Lurves les français, does our bop and that bike black well-oiled pastry is a winnaaaaah.

29 since I last had to buy a card. :heartpuls to all Mothering Sunday's amongst the BoPettes.

Bin all over and down and up. And these things hapen. And what makes it better, BoPsie is only one win away from being in with a shout of three on the trot.

Out in the yellow thing as I checked he bikes over. Finally got brake on mine sorted.

Apple pie this week, homemade with curdled hand rubbed pastry. Now I did em in order. Bike thirst, then pie!

Shaved and it stung this week. Got ruffled as well, bin a five week month, so trims only on first and third Sunday.

Rite, that is the YELLOW THING testing. Now bed early yous lot tonight.

A belated happy birthday to mhagster! :bdaycake:

A busy weekend! Had a lovely jaunt to London yesterday with a friend. Used a deal on Amazon Local for half priced rail travel on Red Spotted Hanky, if you remember.

So, my pleasures for the past couple of days:

    1) The sun has been shining. What a difference that makes to everyone's mood.

    2) Used my Art Card to get half price entry into the Richard Hamilton exhibition at Tate Modern.

    3) Walked loads.

    4) Afternoon tea in the National Portrait Gallery. Who am I kidding. This was not OS, but it was a pleasure. (And budgeted for).

    5) Haven't seen my mum as my parents have been away in Cumbria. However, I sent a card.

    6) Friend I was with yesterday has said she will come with me on the bread making course. I've duly sent a booking request to the lady who runs it. Fingers crossed as this is the longest running saga of trying to book a blinking course! :rotfl:

    7) Jog/run/stagger this evening. Slightly further than Friday's jog/run/stagger. :D

    8) chicken stir fry for supper, cooked by DH.

    9) DH and I are doing tag team ironing. He's on the first shift but is dropping unsubtle hints that it's my turn!

Better say goodnight as I take over the ironing. :p
