Miss VJsmum - best of luck for your second audition! Or 'break a leg' as I believe you theatrical types have it.
1) Woke up to what I call a 'toasted teacake day' - one of those grey, soggy days where, if you're on holiday, your best bet is to find a cafe and huddle up with a cup of coffee and a toasted teacake - and dug a couple of hot cross buns out of the freezer for breakfast, which fulfilled the teacake role nicely.
2) Took the LOs from last night's pasta bake to work for lunch. :money:
3) Somewhat belatedly ordered my DM some flowers for Sunday, stacking codes to get 10% off, free chocolates, free delivery, and cashback as well. :money:
4) Essay all done in note form - I'm off work tomorrow so some serious writing is called for. :undecided
5) Orange dinner tonight, as I remembered to bring the chips home this time!Back after a very long break!0 -
Vjsmumm's DD we have everything crossed for you:j
1.A sort of pleasure ish? I woke up literally unable to stand (and not for good reasons) I hobbled to the bathroom dug out strong painkillers and took them while going back to bed, gave up on the idea of work and phoned in. Asleep till midday and woke up with my leg feeling badly beaten up, pure self-diagnosis the pilates last night bought on bursitis at a sheer guess, it’s improving a bit.
2.I’m up I didn’t win the ebay thing I had my eye I did bid but it went beyond what I would be happy to pay, DH found something very similar made in proper well-built wood, I took a punt and got it well within budget, it will fit in well here as it’s not “perfect” and well it wouldn’t be here with all the animals about. (I prefer not having to “worry” about keeping something perfect).
3.Logged onto work as I had a report due out, sent that off and resisted the urge to check the emails that came down.
4.DH bought a few bits back from lidl including rail plant pots and croissants for tomorrows breakfast.:)
5. Lovely physio provided acupuncture for the pain which has worked quite well I’m grateful for a bit of pain relief.0 -
As pk sez vjsmum all crossed for your dd
You now have my permission to win all remaining games bop
kk i failed my first essay in my pgce and had lousy observations. The experiences have all been very useful to reflect on. Keep going, keep reflecting ( and this can be why i wouldnt do it like her which is how i survived). Grow and flourish so you can inspire the next generation.
1) yummy creamy porridge for breakfast. If i sed it was made even more delicious cos i was cooking it while xoh was being caught in a sleet storm that would be churlish tee hee. But i do lerv porridge.
2) left overs for lunch - yummy bean stew with pasta.
3) got a new pooter at work. With new big screen.
4) knitting club at fluph. Friend crocheted a beautiful flower which was fine till she made it 'talk' at which point it looked more like the vagina monologues!
5) freezing cold walking home but when i got in supper was cooked, dogs walked. As xes go xoh has her good points!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good luck Miss VJsmum xx
Hope the essay goes well CCP
Ouch! PK, glad the acupuncture worked! Hope the pain is gone by morning (sorry, I don't know what bursitis is, but sounds gruesome) xx
So......an update: I had an unexpected and unwelcome visit from a uni tutor (one I knew at least) this morning. She has put me on an action planIn a way it's a relief, but it's also scary. I have started asking the uni to do things for me - I WANT support, not just a 'you should be able to do this by now' attitude. I will have 2 weeks to prove myself in my next placement or I'm off the course.
A pretty pants day, but with some good bits....
1. DD was D&Ving again in the early hours of the morning. Not a pleasure at all, especially not for her, but the flipside is that she is able to have 2 days luxuriating at home, getting better (again) and that I don't have any childcare issues to worry about.
2. Parents' evening last night - I was so happy that my girl is working hard and doing brilliantly
3. I had a lovely chat with the head teacher at my school this afternoon. She said a lot of the things that you lovely people here can also see - that I have a lot of positives to offer a school. She's going to give me some support, has made note of some of the things I said re: you know who, and apologised for the school having failed me! She also wants me to continue to put her as a referee for teaching jobs and says that once I crack the issues that are holding me back, I will be a very good teacher. What a nice woman. When (if) I make it as a qualified teacher, I'd love to work for her.
4. Cuddles and planning baking with DD (not sure if we will make the cake this weekend, I've got a lot of work to do before Monday -but it's fun looking at the yummy recipes!)
5. I politely but firmly asked for a meeting with my teacher to discuss today's lesson, which she was present for, but not officially observing. It turned out that I had put in a lot of good elements, and had explained certain things very well, and I received (ha!) constructive advice on what I hadn't done as well......silly moo, bit late for her to be helpful now, but I'll take any advice I can get!
6. Had a lovely chat with the school caretaker, a man who doesn't take any rubbish from anyone!
7. Two of the class have made me lovely cards and another pair have given me a cork pinboard with pictures and sweet messages stuck to it. Another thing to put in my study - and very useful too! I've been meaning to get a pinboard for agesTomorrow is going to be a tough day.....
8. I was praised (!) for the class' music performance in assembly today - and they will be making 2 repeat performances, one tomorrow, one next weekMy teacher actually was really happy and pleasantly surprised that one of the children had participated at all - and said that I had obviously inspired him!
Right, that lesson plan won't finalise itself! I'm outtahere for a bit...0 -
1. Free banana at work. Went nicely with the home-made egg fried rice I took in for lunch.
2. Was due to meet a friend in 4sda and she was late, so I moseyed around and found some leggings and vest tops in there for very little money. This means I can now wear one or two things that were too short in one direction or another.
3. Cheese on (gluten free) toast for tea. DH had curry for lunch at work and I couldn't be bothered to cook for myself.
4. Home made jam. Yum! We have a whole cupboard of the stuff so I'm not making any more this year. This week: blackberry and apple.
5. Just about to catch up on some trashy tv.0 -
Kittikins - hurrah! At last the school can see it's failed you. You'll be fine, just keep asking for support from where ever you can get it from. I still ask if I don't quite understand something - that's why we work in a team. Just a shame that the one supposed to be guiding you has been a complete and utter muppet.
My students' tutor is coming in to observe them tomorrow. One of the students said that they were criticised the last time by their for doing something that I'd suggested. I have assured them that if they do that in their observation, I'll ensure that this tutor knows that I've told them to do it (guided group work, in this case) and they're only blinking students. Well, not "only".. but you know what you mean.
So, my pleasures for today:
1) Book club! I hadn't finished this month's bookbut I discovered that a few other people hadn't either. Thank goodness I wasn't the only one.
2) A friend of my parents phoned and let me know about a job potentially coming up as an Education Officer for a company she's involved in. Polish my "civilian" CV!
3) Chips and mushy peas for supper. DH had a fish (read: whale) too, but I knew that I'd have cake at book club
4) Massive pile of washing done.
5) Cheque received. I'll pay it in tomorrow and feel rich temporarily, until it goes out again for my credit card bill!

Kittikins - thank goodness the head is helpful! I hope you get it all sorted very soon.
Here are my pleasures - very quickly as bigger son is ill (this is unknown) and MrN has just texted to say his chimney is being dismantled and re-built tomorrow and as they're doing it all in one day, the builders are starting early....
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Dug the allotment and tidied the shed out from 9-12!
3) Another run to the skips. 31 bags of rubbish from the allotment so far.
4) Tasty cheese and beetroot sandwich for lunch.
5) Brother came with me to finish the raised beds on the allotment.
6) Sons happy at school today.
7) Went swimming with sons and brother (shortly before bigger son became ill).0 -
Oh kk - sorry, I have to:
'A pretty pants day, but with some good bits....'
Design your own...oooh, Raffles!!!
1. dd- bean stew ici aussi - and pasta cooked:-) But that's a pack of Parisian architecture tricolore shapes[Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe, Montparnasse, Sacr! Coeur, Notre Dame etc]now residing with smoked sausage and 3-cheese sauce, baking nicely in 2 rect. dishes as we speak. One for x.
2. ...as is the whole w8rs chicken in h/m pie, officially YUM + initials of x, smelling YUM:-)
3. Whirlwind day - hunting, gathering, assembling, off-loading to storage, on-loading for tomorrow. 4th laundry load on now, majorly blankets, bedding[no idea how it will dry - there have been passes of hail all day here],towels.
4. Just a really good brekkie mtg@Vicarage. It highlighted what tomorrow is for x and for another particularly.
5. Also bought angle brackets for neighbour, building bunny maternity annexe between hailings. Giant white[who wasn't pregnant]and giant tawny, who was[due in 3 weeks]both gave birth last night! My goodness, I haven't seen little tinies like these so new before. Neighbour insisted it was fine - I'm still not so certain - showing them to me, nested inches deep into the straw and under mummy's plucked fur.
Might watch a catch-up Perez story[Ann Cleeves]. I like her writing very much and watched Raven Black the other wee hours morning. v.g. , spot on for atmosphere.
May I ask for strong guiding thoughts and prayers for x and y, please.
