  • Kittikins - we love the muppets but decided there's quite a 'theatre in danger - theatre saved' theme going on!Christmas carols is great, but the boomshakalaka song and cabin fever ahhhh:D
VJsmum - theres a comicon in the UK? Why hasn't DS found that!!
    Hello supersaver:D
Ok, I know there are pleasures.
    1. went to dentist and when I said I don't know if I'll be able to afford to come in oct DS offered to pay for a check up for me. He's a good lad.
    2. I bought myself the mother of all kilner jars. With a tap. It is a thing of beauty. But its in the kitchen. And at the moment the kitchen makes me angry!
    3. Ignore the kitchen. Baked potatoes for tea, nice and frugal.
    4. I am now the proud owner of a weedwiper. I can kill weeds with ease yay!
    5. Its just not there. Oh yes, the stars outside when I went to feed the dog, nice clear night:)
Thats not bad for an exceptionally stroppy day:)

kk- straight away, what a lift to see your 7 and feel Recognisable Vous, why not Toi? again. It's so good to savour and keep seeing that. kk on the bounce=tigger time, yippeeee!

Just in[deffo my equivalent of Frith's 'not a bad sleep'] - and love bigger son's *comment.

    1. Day assumed shape of fruit from the off, but never mind. Hard-won restoration of an mse kind achieved, eventually, and a great relief.

    2. Grovelling letter and goodwill chq in shape of 3£figs arrived! Such welcome timing.

    3. Yet again on way out, took another call and I am so glad I did. A wonderful[could well be a life-changer]event on Saturday will involve someone visited for several years now. I am hugely proud for the person and will take them there.

    4. 'Yet again on way out, took another call and I am so glad I did'-MkII. Ditto v.v. glad I was here. Friday appts all juggled about, fluid now, related to 3, with more good possiblities in the offing.

    5. Tonight's 'just in' is from a perfect Dr Julian Stair lecture, 3rd of 4 in the Art and Life series at Kettle's Yard. Tonight centred on the work of William Staite Murray and I think JS was pleased when I noted that his Lecture is the only one given by a working artist-and I had one of his pieces years ago, just liked it, had no idea who then. We talked lots after about pots, and potting and James Lin and the Fitzwilliam and Kettles Yard and Jim Ede and Alfred Wallis and Robin Welch and Elton and 'designers, not makers' sea-change period and Roger Fry and tenmoku and Tang and Sung and hare's fur glazes and kiln builds and WSM's marooned life as a perfect PhD fit .... did & have a gorgeous time? Feel free to infer:-)

hwb's need harvesting, then bed. Tomorrow and rest of week will be even more today-like than today was. Just when I fancy a little something, I have to convince myself I am feeling good about Lenten choc/cafe/dairy banishment.

broomstick? - have you moved already? Hope you and situ are o.k.

Thinking of all who are, and are not, with us atm. Stay warm, stay safe. Wise Isis.

Can't thank for some reason but thank you for sharing all your pleasures

I was too tired to post last night so here's a combined Monday / Tuesday:

    1. Work, 2 good days.
Finished sharp both days which means I'm home before I'd be on the usual train home. Paid :)

    2. Spent a grand total of 5 cents in the post office, I'd found a 55c stamp so needed 5c to make it to 60c for a local stamp, although it's going up to 70c next month, but that's for anywhere in Oz.

    3. My next door neighbour's ( aged 94) daughters came in to my work for lunch today, so that was nice to see them. I gave them a sneaky piece of cake :)

    4. Crazy corellas, ( Google corella) , they are eating the berries of a particular tree but the magpies and crows are nesting and much noise and fighting is going on! There were about 20 of them in our back garden this morning!

    5. Came home to a lovely surprise in the mail. My podiatrist had sent me a cinema voucher for recommending my daughter to the practise! How nice!

    6. Tonight's dinner sorted courtesy of work, 2 meat pies, egg and bacon roll and sandwiches which will do pack lunches tomorrow .

    Have a lovely Tuesday :)
  • I’ve got a lovely bunch …

Days the shape of a fruit, or was it really the skin of a banana. Heating on. Frosty starts. Birds flapping their feathers. Chicken, where are you, stir fry , left over chilli Pasta and salmon and toothsmiths. KK, yous nose you wanna try it! Recipe nearly the same as the spotted !!!!!! as well! Well, same base that is. But it has to be proper ginger. Sparra Tootling along. Toot Toot!

5 Minor skirmish on the other carriageway this morning enroute to the Salt Mine. Occupants were standing, cars were thought not of Germanic Extraction, possibly French. I nose, but I have tried to right mine off a few times, but I did take one for a swim three years back!

4 Hairy men again, with or without tools. Look in our ship & I not only has me own shed, but my our very private chambers. It has some nice pictures and things in it as well. Only problem is, some others seem to use my chambers as well. Still, I am going to remove the seat and keep the peskie things out. I do right a loads of tosh mes sometimes! Just flows along.

3 Last night, BoPsie got within a sniff of being only 2 away from winning three on the bounce, but your funtistic BoP just managed to claw his way home in the end. Now, I notice that some sheets are missing from our score pad, and although it is cooberated that I have won 11 on the bounce, I am sure it was bout this amount last week! Not that I could ever acuse BoPsie of cheating, but she had her Q removed yesterday. She complimented me that previously I had left the word Quo on the bored, because I managed to grab some points as well, but as she slammed the Q down on the triple letter, it was offed quite rightly last nite.

2 Nite is the big match with DD. Although we are a little behind, I am sure that at the Theatre of Fish, we can sanp on them heels

1 There appears to be problems with the proteins and Professor Pier Righetti’s use of coconuts. Maybe I am misguided, but they do look a lovely bunch.!

Boogar, seems that the tooth fairy is floating around somewhere now. Claw and Crunch sandwich!

1-5 for this morning - Just tootled over to St Evenage to collect the mutt. Happy dog, happy me :)

Please enlighten us BoP, sounds dramatic!

Aye, went round the bend at a pace and hit big puddle. Car written off! They gave us a 0.0 cc Sh1tron as a cursety car!

The Melodrama was getting this heap uphill, and I then realised why most in the 0.0 Sh1tron back out when faced with some real pedal.

Soon got decent wheels back on the road.

lovefullshelves - portacabins are pretty serious getting off the treadmill! I watch over cherry trees, in part because of Housman, in part because my Uni had different variants dotted wherever you could reasonably put a tree, in part because we married "at cherry blossom time" (handy visual hint for husband!) and for a whole slew of other cherry tree related memories, & phrases & music & celebrations. It's not exactly a dangerous obsession, but it's certainly a personal quirk - my inner tree-spirit is a kraneia (cherry tree specific - dryad technically oak-tree-spirit.) Awe that you have raised an 18 year old to cling to his money until he really wants something! Age on the paperwork is one thing, how old you feel is far more important! About 17 sounds splendid! Well done DS realising that a mother with sound teeth is a happier person. Kilner jar with tap? The 8 litre monster? There's canny preparation for a long hot summer! Hoping today is better for you.
BritishBibliophile - right with you on the day off that doesn't go as planned, but at least Some Things Sorted. Why is it that the to do list slides past but the 'when I get around to it' gets resolved?! Have wonderful times in London (we'll pilgrimage South to see the Vikings at the British Museum...) You can see your desk? <shocked!> Definitely chilly enough to merit hwb!
BoP - good to hear the game played & the cat resting... Saw a packet & thought of you - it read "The world was not built on camomile". Home made chicken pie... <fades into happy reverie> Blinks, sees dream on screen! How much cocoa, or is it a sling-in-til-brown-&-tasty? Found the mystery Q? Some cars just can't cope with water!
Purple kitten - pre-organising animal feed sounds a genius idea! <wonders how it might work on teenagers> Clean bedlinens are all the excuse I need for a nap! All the best with the job application! Exam or not, daffs & a Chinese sound like a good day. Well done only worrying about things you can do something about! Proper cooking is not always a success. (Made a stunning stew "with too many carrots", grrr.) All very best for eBay!
VickyA - *Hurrah* for a parent saying they're glad they moved to your school! And Wimbledon and Miranda?! Gosh! Canny shopping includes judicious reuse of takeaway boxes, as long as you label the contents, (although defrosted surprise does have its charms.) If numbers permit, enjoy the breadmaking course - and let anyone who carps, bake for the week.
kittikins - I do so hope things have picked up a bit by now, as from all I read, you're a wonderful dedicated teacher & the children enjoy learning with you. As for Moving them on every three minutes, some children need more than three minutes to take on a new idea. (So do several adults I could point to right here in this office.) Do not let the shredder win - we think you have the right stuff & so please keep at it! T'internet is a grand source of many things, but should be balanced by a proper use of librarians, hugs from daughter & better tutoring from above. With us cheering you to the rafters from the sidelines. You've had noro in the house? Eesh - that's heavy going. Why have you a *tired* child in class? Delighted to hear your pupils appreciate you!

ampersand - Brilliant Idea! Forming an orderly queue (I cede my spot to Raffles, but have Salt) to 'meet' kk's tutor. Honoured & delighted to be any part of this splendid academy! Sic the All Blacks on tutor? Fearsome weaponry! A Roedean accent from the radio is part of childhood memory - lovely! Love your perspective on the 3 minute malarky! "FrogSnake" - we can rely on you to come up with the fitting epithet for kk's tutor. Stroking pews is very meditative, crochet apparently somewhat less so. Excellent post & brilliant phone calls - then a gorgeous time - splendid!
Frith - I laud your canny shopping to keep adding jumpers despite this apparent Spring. Intrigued by wriggly tin worm "trap" - we helped build "Lizard Hotels" - same idea, I think! Bark chippings are wonderful - safe footing & environmentally friendly. So happy for a good parents evening for you & chortling at bigger son's repartee! (We can't win. The battle is part of the fun.)
mhagster - mandarin tree as well as happy potted lemon?! Of course, you're in real billabong country - there are snakes? Have you any baling twine? (Family sovereign specific against Things up trous.) Sorry to hear 94 year old lemon tree neighbour in hospital but delighted that you spent an hour laughing together! Procrastination may not iron school uniforms, but it compels my young to learn to iron for themselves. Worth trying some non-critical day? So used to our NHS that the idea a podiatrist would *reward* you for another patient has me blinking - enjoy the film! Can you hoard stamps in advance of the price rise? Corellas vs nesting magpies & crows - that Will be loud!
VJSmum - our bank requires ID unless they can identify you personally - since our children went to the same primary, we're likely good for a while yet. Howling inconvenient but at least some places accept Costco cards as photoID... Ah, comicons. Huge fun to watch & some of the speakers/artists are stunning. Mind you, the amount of time effort & funding put into some of the costumes similar. Why has OH got a 1001 walks to do? Does this desperate urge to check off things adhere to the Y chromosome? Commitments? Sorry the show wasn't as good as the music, as it’s a belting good book & film, and yes, a good lead singer makes a Huge Difference. (Actor/singer in film went to USA to be properly appreciated, as totally failed boyband criteria here!) Apologise to your mum (& watch her laugh) on Mothers Day?
DD - leftovers, nibbles, banquet - delighted to hear academe still marching on its stomach! Up top date with Must See TV too! Delighted to hear you going for the intellectual jugular & querying the research on which the 3 minute premise is "built"... Another tidy desk? What is going on? Is Spring cleaning infectious? (A Scout mum has a Vote Saxon lapel pin, which I confess to coveting. She & the twins are big Who fans, which makes for some fun conversations!)
mcculloch - I defer to your greater knowledge & agree wholeheartedly that this work of very high skill is within kk's grasp if she's steered rather than shredded! Noel Coward on Nancy Spain's death is a zinging oneliner from a master thereof. Ooooh - fish paste as an ingredient - right, that's me headed for the library tonight. The lads get sniffy about fish (if isn’t battered, essentially) whereas I do love a bit of pink fish every now & again. Phew sis eyeballing an infection & not more cancer treatment!

patchwork - a gluten free bacon butty - that's customer service! I like churches & sermons. Some are downright restful - but they're a treat. All the best with job application - 'just liking the look' may be a bit hard to express in HR language, but sounds like it could be a happy fit.
Skint yet again - that wretched bug is a master/monster of inconvenience. Please reassure DS that reversing into bikes is not that uncommon (ahem) and better to do so when they are not being ridden/straddled by some fragile human. Encore toasted fruit loaf!
supersaver - welcome! "home made chalk paint using wilco grout" - that's an attention grabber! (Googling, I'm not entirely sure what chalk paint is used for?) Share your pain at extended probation, but can now look back on that with "but still here decades later..." Positive stubbornness the trick, I think.
sparrer - the weight loss board will have to cope without you for a little bit longer - that chocolate layer cake sounds utterly delicious. (where do I take lads for lessons?!) Right with you hoping weather cooperates! We're not hardy, we just begrudge the money on heating... Home and enjoying home made lemon cheese - excellent! Reunited with dog - better still!
CCP - welcome back! A photographic memory? Images, sounds, objects or a mix of all three? Your library charges a pound a sheet? What do they print on, vellum?! Muppet film (the Christmas Carol?) always good news.

A few OS Pleasures as I've been remiss posting
"It's name translates as 'Lizard Earthquake God'" - wish I'd heard what dinosaur this was! Hearing it had "high speed & agility", there was a collective family flashback to Robot Wars (Speed, Control, Damage & Aggression)...

"I don't know if we've enough dice" - sons' war gaming amicably enough but I think that's about to taper off.

Explorer leader has shared photos of eldest doing Irish Dancing (on St.Patricks) on Book of Face... Eldest's response short but unrepeatable here! Granny (cued, ahem) *delighted* - triggering further deplorable language...

Just whimpering with laughter at sport relief vs Andy Murray - what a smashing bloke he is to stand up & take it for sport relief. Yet greater awe for girlfriend Kim carefully framed in audience.

Where do I sign up to be part of kittikins' academy?! Sounds a splendid idea & almost too fun to work.

I do love MSE - you have some downright surreal conversations. I hadn't realised I knew, let alone how quickly I could research a few more details. Truly University is a great place for learning...

Carboot yippee - now have griffin covers (expensive protection) for both phone & pad! (Phone one clunky but great for Scout Camping.) Pad cover has a wrist strap - may need to peel husband off! For pennies…

Another stall had anything 10 pence, so I got 5 packets of nice handkerchiefs! Which, given the numbers in the wash, has to be a Good Thing.

Found an old Brownie belt! The key ring clips, the pouch, the Girl Guides buckle - happy flashbacks even if it could only have fitted me as a child!

Heard model railway exhib at Crystal Palace & whimpered, first on my behalf & snarled on that of Frith!

Stunning morning - California sky, with moon as Death Star, sweeping down to frosted earth.

Cherry buds beginning to open tips of leaves, despite the cold! I feel privileged to watch these times of wonder.

Colleague with new bike charmingly trying not to explode with delight about it. Gently prompted, the whole happy tale bubbles forth.

Chilli Doritos in the sunshine *glow*, worryingly.

Storming night out with Explorers - even though only a driving parent, they let me have a go rifle shooting too!

The rain makes the tiny brave cherry leaves, peeping out from the reassuring bud, glint.

Big hugs (the sort that leave you wondering about ribs) to all who need them, hot waterbottles, handkerchiefs & parasols likewise & Even in the Rain the cherry blossom buds are beginning to unfurl!

CCP - welcome back! A photographic memory? Images, sounds, objects or a mix of all three? Your library charges a pound a sheet? What do they print on, vellum?! Muppet film (the Christmas Carol?) always good news.

Images / text generally: I can look at a page of a textbook and remember what it says and what any images look like, which saves a lot of note-taking! ;) I can also generally pick up a piece of music on one hearing - I had never thought of that as the same thing, but you're probably right that it is.

The Muppet film is the one they made a couple of years ago, with the lovely Amy Adams, although most of them would have done me. :)

My posting may be erratic for the rest of the week, as I had an email today to say that my new router will take three to five days to be delivered. I better not miss next weekend's grand prix!

    Right, today's pleasures:

    1) Over the weekend I finally got around to watching a DVD I bought several months ago, only to find it was faulty. Amaz0n have now agreed to replace it - they may be dubious morally, but their customer service is always impressive! :T

    2) Annual appraisal all over and done with, with no negatives (or indeed anything particularly interesting :undecided).

    3) Quiet afternoon at work, so I've caught up on the comps. Naughty CCP. :naughty::o

    4) Pub quiz tonight, I think.
Back after a very long break!
