I'll do my pleasures now before sons return!

    1) Smaller son's antibiotics working.

    2) Popped to Sainsburys.

    3) Smaller son went to see the doctor about his long standing problem. He REALLY didn't want to go. I have endeavoured to get him to go about this before... Would you believe, in the waiting room the mother of one of his friends from his old school started talking to him! I couldn't think of a way to tell her to go away because he was already stressed. :-/

He refused to go in to see DrC (another DrC!) Then he did come in. Then ran back into the waiting room. Cue DrC following him and trying to talk him back into the office. Again, we looked up and there was one of the (nice) teachers from his old school saying hello!! Aaaararrrrgh!

Eventually I made it back to the office with DrC and smaller son stood outside in the corridor. DrC went to have a cup of coffee (!) But after that it went amazingly well. DrC started talking about playstations and showed smaller son the key for his new sports car... Somehow he managed during all this to refer him to urology AND have a man to man chat with him in the corridor. I'm still stunned. He needs to win some kind of Dr award.

To top all this drama off, MY doctor happened to walk past (door was open with me and DrC in the office and smaller son leaping round in the corridor). She started talking about referring me for Aspergers. That was the third person where I nearly had to say "GO AWAY!!!"

Anyway, the marvellous DrC is going to see smaller son every week for 10 minutes to cure him of his terror of doctors. He didn't get to examine him but getting him to talk about his problem is something I can't do every time.

    4) Spent about an hour this afternoon dealing with seedlings. My sister's friend dropped lots of yesterday and I planted some squash today. Now I have a tray of cauli, sprouts, 2 pumpkins, 4 courgettes, dahlias, peppers and 52 tomatoes!

    5) Cleaned the downstairs of the house.

    6) Looking forward to Holby.

quick pleasures before I go to t' pub to celebrate a friend's bday
    1) breakfast - fried potato, egg and tomato. nom nom
    2) lunch - feta cheese pasta salad hm (though was my turn to buy the tea)
    3) DD1 making me laugh with her fb comment: "on second thoughts pop rock freddos were not the best idea for a quiet library snack..."
    4) DD1 2nd comment "I was considering eating some then going to a toilet cubicle until the popping subsided but if people thought it was strange for popping noises to be coming from an area of the library, I dread to think what they'd imagine if I was just crackling away in the loo.."
    5) writing a talk re. ICT and the health sector including fascinating paper on legal and moral issues of online health care.

DD, yes I've read Kathy K.'s marvellous A Year on A Pound A Day book. She was lucky in that she did it before the slump, when there were lots of public funded freebies available, and there really was such a thing as a free lunch at an exhibition opening or staff meeting.
Also people weren't as zealous as hunting down YS bargains then as they are now. She shared a house as well, which must have helped. I read a library copy, sadly it's out of print.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    1. Work was really busy but nice, you can guess my big problem is on holiday till Monday, phew, it’s good for a couple of days.
    2. DH is out, and I have to say it was rather nice, walked back from the station, loaded up the washing machine and dryer, made and got the stew in the oven.
    3. All the animals very interactive as they normally have lots of company during the day as well
    4. They are running riot while I catch up on here, and have a guilty simpson pleasure on for a half hour.
    5. Looking forward to a soak, enjoying a few free hours, don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t want it all the time but it’s nice just for a couple of hours.

Love the thought of your DD crackling away in the library, DD! :)

    1. Gave what I hope the panel would agree was a fabulous interview lesson - I really enjoyed it and the children did too! I think I can show that I used differentiation, assessment and that they all learned something in 30 mins....here's hoping!

    2. I don't know if I have the job, but I know I am still in the running :) They haven't made their minds up yet, so I'll know by the end of the week......but at least I'm not on tenterhooks tonight.

    3. Yummy risotto for dinner, and leftovers for lunch tomorrow!

    4. Good chats with chums on FB and email.

    5. DD, who gave me all her love this morning, and also told me not to worry/think about things too much, as she would do that for me, so that I could concentrate on enjoying my interview. She's got a very wise head on those young shoulders of hers.

    6. The joy of being able to watch, and then pick DD and her chum up from netball club :)

    7. Low spend day - just found an additional birthday treat for DD and her BFF who can't make it to her party, courtesy of a voucher site :) Bowling here we come!!

    8. DD's help in lesson planning for the next couple of days :) Here's hoping she can think of a fab lesson for Friday, lol....I've been so caught up in thinking about this flipping interview that my lessons are quite vague for the week. Oops! What would I do without her :)

So, sooo tired - this cold bug has drained my batteries completely. :( Replacements gratefully received!

    1) My sister has been told that she's now completely better and doesn't even need medication any more - fantastic news given how ill she was only a couple of months ago. :j

    2) Chatting to my DM on the phone, and ended up laughing about a case at work - I feel a bit guilty as it's a disaster for the student concerned, but if you don't laugh you cry (and he did rather bring it on himself, tbh... :undecided).

    3) Made a simple but tasty pasta dish for dinner, and made enough so that I can have the LOs for lunch tomorrow.

    4) Isis is definitely getting back to normal, and has stopped running away every time I move. (She still does it sometimes, but it's a definite improvement!)

    5) Early night tonight - I've just got to decide at some point how early I can get away with.
Back after a very long break!
  • 1. DH had defrosted the car for me while I was in the shower.
    2. Tuesday is chips day with a colleague. We shared a small portion and ate a sandwich from home each. Pigs!
    3. Another wrinkly veg production for tea in the form of mushroom and chickpea green curry with extra chard from the allotment, half a red pepper and some ancient mushrooms. I didn't have much as I was still full of lunch but DH seemed impressed.
    4. Called in on an old colleague after work and set the world to rights.
    5. Sun had dried the washing on the line by the time I got home.

    Almost bedtime again!

A cool, damp start to the day so like a nice mummy I made porridge for breakfast...."who wants porridge?" 3 x "me" came the replies!
The kids have always liked porridge me I have to absolutely force myself to eat the stuff...weetabix for me :)

On the way for train and I saw the rabbit again! Phoned the nursery where it was hopping around outside but it's not theirs , apparently belongs to someone in the next street and will make it's own way home! son has just got in from uni and the first thing he said ( would usually be what's for tea?) was , " I've just seen a rabbit!"

Had a lovely day at work :) now on days off :):)

Have done absolutely nothing all evening....quite nice for a change!
Dinner supplied courtesy of work again! That's 3 nights this week :)

    That's me :) have a lovely day :)

Hiya - catching up on all the pleasures: Tealady's mortgage; Kk's fab interview lesson; CCP's sister; Frith's marvellous DrC; and more... :T:T:T:T:T
Frith, I had to look up Hereford Hop since it sounded much more energetic than the sort of thing Sparrer might be learning in her burlesque dancing lessons (maybe a sort of morris dance step?). I hadn't realised that the 'hops' were real hops iyswim :rotfl: It's veggie too - on my list of 'must try this'.)
Thanks for the '£ a day' book mention as well, DD - I've now got it on order from the library.

    Five pleasures since last time:

    1. Washing machine is going to be sorted this week - hooray. :)

    2. Haven't seen my mum yet to give her the little daffs I got her so I'm enjoying the single little tete-a-tete flower that opened this morning. :)

    3. Enjoyed a chat last night with the dad of one of the children at our club who has coordination difficulties and who seems to be becoming more and more coordinated every week. The change in the child is really obvious and it's a joy to watch. :)

    4. Am listening, alongside doing paperwork, to an audio book from the library about how to rethink one's use of the 168 hours we all have in the week. It's very 'American motivational' in tone but actually there are the odd few snippets I'm finding quite useful and it's good to think about alongside menial tasks! :)

    5. Enjoyed another episode of the Great British Sewing Bee last night. :)

Have a lovely day today everyone,

    B x
