Ampersand, I had literally just read Mairi Hedderwick's DID selection in this week's The Week, and thought "Ooh, that looks worth listening to" - I had missed it on first broadcast. Good spot.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0

Evening all...almost bedtime again, back to work tomorrow but I've had rather a fabulous day.
Woke up early , got up early and sat on my sofa in the office and read my library book.
Small spot of veg gardening before it got too hot, peas are starting to flower, have soaked another packet of pea seeds to go out tomorrow. Transplanted my pumpkin seedlings to give them a bit more room to grow.
Then OH and I went a gallivanting . A few towns away , first of all for some brunch. It was an organic/ vegan -y kind of place which I hadn't realised but I had polenta ( not a lover of) , topped with Mexican mushrooms ( schlurpalicious) topped with 2 poached eggs. Also had a a juice with watermelon, cucumber , apple and a few other things, 'twas nice but don't think we will rush back. Inside was a gorgeous deli selling the most beautiful fruit and veggies....took lots of photos!
Then as we headed home we decided to go up country,to Healsville, have not been since before Christmas. Had coffee and more cake....or OH had more coffee....I had lemonade.
Then even further up country to Marysville, this town was devastatingly flattened by the bush fire in 2009. They are slowly rebuilding....buildings and their lives. So another coffee and another cake...Apple turnover, I just had a wee bit as I'd eaten most of the other one! Still had my lemonade from before!
Then up and up and up the hills to Lake Mountain. This is a ski resort in winter and mountain bike tracks in summer. The trees are all dead from the bush fires and are a ghostly grey colour but very pretty in a stark way. So coffee number 4 and the remainder of lemonade and THE biggest plate of chips! We had a nice chat with 2 of the employees. One lost his father in the fire and the other lost his house. But they were both chatty and answered all my inane questions.
Then back down the mountain and oh well as it was OH driving let's go the blooming dirt tracks way! These ever so slightly terrify me! But we did see lots and lots of black wallabies, in their natural habitat and pretty birds.
Saw a wombat and then thought I saw another one...it was a big ,round rock!!
Then home! Now bed! Night0 -

Another day of feeling horribly cold-y and sorry for myself - I keep telling myself that colds usually only last a few days and I must start feeling better soon. :undecided
1) Woke up early this morning and lay awake for a long while feeling miserable, but eventually got back to sleep and had a lie-in to make up for it.
2) Knew I wouldn't be going anywhere today so arranged for a grocery delivery, so I now don't have to go out shopping this week.
3) Received my latest competition prize books. :j
4) Isis has been in hidey mode for most of the day and I've barely seen her, but she came out for supper a little while ago - nothing puts that cat off her food!
5) Watching the athletics this evening.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all
&,Thank you for the link to Mairi Hedderwick DID - very fond of her as an author/illustrator. Am listening to it now.I didn't realise KM had been filmed for CBBC.
House no 1 has almost certainly gone to the first people interested. We are looking at something else on Monday that isn't yet advertised because it's being redecorated.
Handful of pleasures since last time:
1. All that Yellow Thing. So cheering.
2. Sitting in the car in the sunshine while waiting for DS2 and reading through a collection of children's first paperbacks that I unearthed in my clearing out and that I'm lending to a friend for her son who's just become an independent reader. I'm keeping very few books like this but these ones are cherished by both DSs and me and are really very good indeed so it was fun to make the time to read them again.:D
3. Having texts from DS1 at regular intervals through the last 24 hours - he's abroad. Am expecting him back in the early hours.
4. There's been a spate of good telly on iplayer including several ballet programmes - thanks for the heads up on the Bussell one a while back, Sparrer, and the '37 days' series is good too.
5. Suddenly realised I was scrambled egg hungry, DS1 will have eaten, and DS2 wanted pizza so I made myself a double portion of scrambled egg on toast for supper. Heaven
Hugs and 'get well's to poorly people.
Sweet dreams

1) episode 4 of line of duty while soaking in bubbly bath.
2) lunch with good friend. He paid which was very sweet of him. He's the one i treated to a meal with the voucher friends gave me and xoh for our silver wedding anniversary. Still makes me smile. A small victory.
3) since only me at home (xoh in usa for a week) have been washing up by hand. Have treated myself to a new red washing up bowl. I love it
4) turned the heating off (though do have gas fire on this evening)
5) new wool shop that runs the knitting club i joined has just got in tatting stuff. Mum and i decided over xmas we were going to try tatting this year so looking forward to learning at knitting clubMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good evening everyone :hello:
Spent a lovely day with my oldest friend and we had afternoon tea together! We always have a joint "treat" for our birthdays (mine being mid-March and hers being July), so this year we've plumped for a real treat!
So, my pleasures for today:
1) Spending the day with my oldest friend (we've known each other since we were 6!).
2) Walking.... and walking... and walking...! Feeling quite virtuous.
3) Used my Art Fund card to gain access into a great museum.
4) The yellow thing was out!
5) Helping a friend find iron-rich recipes for her teenage daughter who is anaemic. Not a pleasure necessarily, but good to help out.
oh and 6) Catching up with Jonathan Creek!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0
