5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Good evening, here are my pleasures for today:
1. DS came up to my bed this morning and snuggled up in the bed, just like when he was a tiny boy (he is 24!).
2. Said he was exhausted from his paper rounds so I left him in my bed and brought him breakfast in bed, he loved it, then fell asleep there. I left him asleep in my bed. Brings me back to more than 20 years back. So sweet!
3. Managed to go to college, finally!
4. Yoga class
5. Eating was well under control today, had nice and healthy food.
6. Managed to get a large lot of laundry done
7. After dinner, free cinema at local community centre, saw The Closet, very funny and rather moving too.
8. Last but not least, I hold a deep hope that DD is getting herself sorted out. She texted me a lot today and called her dad, so maybe she is on her way to healing. Please God.
Good night all! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hoping you feel a bit perkier tomorrow Kittikins. You certainly made the best of a low mood though, well done you
VickyA I'm sure you're right, knowing how to do something has to be 9/10th's of the way to it being done
1. Handed the night line over at 8am only to be asked to do the 8-1 shift as well as that person is away. No problem as I had no plans to go out and it's one of my pleasures to be there for anyone who needs an ear.
2. Next door's cat and my dog, who are great friends, were talking to each other through my glass back door. Took me a while to realise what he was doing then saw the mog, let doglet out and they ran off across the garden together. One of those moments that had to be seen to be believed and really made me smile, especially as they're both black and white and almost looked like a pair of terrible twins
3. Had a newsletter from a local charity, they're asking for bedding and linens - they must have known I cleared out the spare bedrooms and the airing cupboard so will be heading that way tomorrow.
4. Shopping haul this evening was a melon for 50p, 5 slices of ham with a stuffing crust for 35p (just had a slice with hm wm bread and mustard, it was beautiful), and 2 fresh cream and cinnamon apple muffins for 10p. I'm sure one tomorrow and one on Saturday will be okay especially as the treadmill is arriving on Saturday. That's my excuse, anyway
5. The theme of this evening's meeting was self pity, I didn't have much to contribute to the discussion as I'm quite contented with my life, don't envy anyone anything and just feel grateful for what I have. Listening to the conversation made me realise how good my life is today.
Wishing everyone those same feelings of contentment, sweet dreams0 -

Top of the morning to ya - so top it's nearly "art'noon"
Ampersand - what a lovely thing to have to look forward to.
LFS / Chicken - you both crack me up
Caterina - Your no.1 made me "aww" that is lovely. There is hope for my DS yet then.
Sparrer your no. 2 made me "aww" also
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Got up and started work before 8!! I was a marking machine and got it all finished in 6 hours - I didn't even get dressed (though had brushed teeth!). So then treated myself to
2. A soak in the bath, but to justify the fact I was getting paid for it, I read one of the relentless trade magazines that pour through my letter box - I am 3 months behind.
3. DS went on a mini referees course. When he finishes it in a couple of weeks he will be able to ref under 10 football matches - earning himself £20 a go which isn't bad at 14! Mind he will have to deal with stroppy mums and dads - hope they teach him that.
4. While he was there OH and I went out for a meal - it wasn't worth the "dropper offer" coming home in between times - so we went to 'Spoons and I had the "health Pasta", accompanied by 2 glasses of wine.
5. I have submitted an abstract of a conference paper. Conference is only in Portsmouth, but I like to get my name "out there" every so often in case I ever want to move universities - especially as it's unlikely I will ever do a PhD. Though I like the idea of being Dr VJsmum, I don't really want to do the work.
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Hurrah...it's Friday already! School starts today and I shall have a whole house to myself today....I am looking forward to some me time.
My Thursday pleasures were:
Day off work number 1
Chats to mum and friend on phone
Brunch with DD2 and then we did the grocery shopping.
Having already accidentally smashed 3 glasses in the kitchen in the morning she then managed to drop and smash a jar of pasta sauce in the garden bringing in the shopping.
A snoozette.....which wasn't planned ...I just woke up 2 hours later!
I'd bought RTC eggs for $2.35 and made DD1 & DS omelettes, DD2 had poached eggs and then I made them pancakes for pudding. I will probably bake today and use up the other eggs when I'm all by myself ......
Went a- visiting in the evening. Popped over to see my friend and had a good old catch up with her and enjoyed her air con!
This morning the flowers I bought last weekend have all opened and look stunning. To be another hot day in the land of heat and I plan to do as much as I can this morning and then enjoy the aircon at the hairdressers as I get my hair coloured and banish the grey again.....because I wasn't working I couldn't justify getting my hair done at that price, so as soon as I got the job I made an appointment!!
Enjoy your evening ...I'm about to wake 2 not so little girls up for school:)0 -
Evenin'all -
Dr vjm - v. glad Isis didn't tell ccp you said 'only in Portsmouth'.
re: which, ccp - great news for little sis.
chicken - hmm, I'm a poule. Do I want Somme, or nice dry kitchen with added bits and lap to flatter? Not too hard.
1. Up all night[share a kettle, sparrer?]but worked through with case-papers until mid-arvo. Just made it to P.O. Days are counting down, not just the 85>NZ.
2. Kitchen windowsill - hyacinth, £land t-à-t's, w8rs cyclamen have all perked up.
The 3" £land pots are crammed with over 20 flowerbud stems each, from 7/8 bulbs.
3. Leaving hospital yesterday, 3-pt turn for 'Fabric sale in village hall today'. Bought nothing in actuals, miles in virtuals - gorgeous stuff and instinctive instant Friends of same mind and all of us having a lovely time. I was amazed by the number of chaps too. A 40ish couple hold these sales qtrly and he, especially, was an absolute delight...rather David Sassoon-y, if I think of it. Sweeping figured silks, fine old block cotton velvets, amazing tables full of beautiful bolts.
4. Thence to w8rs cappuccino and a £5.86 spend: 36 leek/sage/porksnorks[test drive model in post to Raffles as we speak], 14 oranges, 2x500ml dbl cream[frozen, prob. for butter], 4 loaves walnut bread, 2 flat-leaf parsleys, 3x500g butters with slightly dinked corners. Amazing share-outs and today, at nearer Branch, similar £5.88: 12 oysters, birdy bread, loads of pinova apples rtc bogof, 2 pineapples, specialty mushrooms, 2pks casserole venison + free Feb mag and w/e paper, in early. Massive bonus, unplanned....oh and kumquats. Thinking of putting them in slow cooker with the venison? Yea/nay?
5. Heard a terrific prog. with the admirable Giles Fraser after fabric stop:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03jz22w
Another of &'s long-admired.
6. More Dr stuff a.m. demain then l-h visit in arvo and sth else in between and after. It's all meaning¬ allowed to do Spits for another fortnight, but I'll survive. Should set sail across bay of e again, last done 2 years ago to help with last NZ foray. A bit of Blakean symmetry maybe?
7. Will definitely head for The Alma and Les Bleus face à Albion, samedi. Catharsis, here I come.
8. Realise right now, as I tippytap, how much lighter the shoulders feel, having sent verbiage off today. Also dealing with vile Parking Eye atm, just another nuisance.
9. Grateful to Martin all over again when I think of 2 pet threads I'm following. One amusing[Cats and their 'gifts', new post 22.]; the other, that inevitable moment. This afternoon there was an appointment, don't know yet what result...
10. lfs - felicitations[no, not for Fully Functionals, joyous for sometwo as this must be], but on 8 months D-F! You really did it, you really did! wbf rocks!
Off to have some more lovely soup. Standing on scales yesterday was ...suppressed on grounds of National Insecurity? Can't hope to lose v. much next Tues either.
