    Evening all.

    Five pleasures for Saturday:

    1. Just got some (very bulky) mending finished that has been hanging around since Christmas. More space cleared. :D

    2. Popped into W8rz for my cappuccino :D and a couple of bits.

    3. Gave myself a haircut - well overdue and it's not too bad at all even if I say so myself. First mega saving of the year. :j I'm determined only to spend money on things like ingredients for meals, basic and essential household stuff, toiletries and medicines, essential stuff for self-employment and keeping the car safe and on the road. No frills, no unnecessary buys etc and haircuts for me (and clothes and books :() definitely fall into that category. Somehow I will make do, mend and muddle through - that's the plan anyway!

    4. Lentil soup and a salad for supper.

    5. DS2 did a running repair on the temporary mend of the fence which had come adrift in the night. Now it's secured with cable ties and hope. :) And DS1 took all the garden rubbish that was stored in the garage and forgotten about over the summer  to the dump today. The garage would be the first thing to flood so this was useful stuff to get cleared. Helpful, both of them. River level is still sane atm.

Keep warm (and dry CCP :D). Sweet dreams.

    Evening

Broomstick - Hope the river level doesn't get any higher.

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Trip to the tip today and more rubbish got rid of
    2. Bacon sandwich for breakfast when we got home
    3. Had a flash of inspiration of OH birthday which is the beginning of next month so ordered a couple of things online
    4. Recycled some chocolates from Christmas into part of friends birthday present, they are her favourite so saved buying a box and me eating yet more.
    5. Heard news today that a friend got engaged over Christmas, really pleased for her as she is really happy and she has kissed a few frogs along the way.

Hugs to all who need them

Can't believe I've neglected this thread so much this week, have caught up with all your pleasures, thank you for them all, so, very quickly, some of mine.

    1. Enjoying a few seasonal indulgences of food and drink. I won't be doing "Dry January" as I drink very little anyway, still have a glass or two of mulled wine left in a bottle.
Had better get that dealt with so it doesn't go off.

    2. Amazon refunding promptly for DGS's missing Christmas present. Unfortunately a few other things have gone missing from the post since, and perhaps the magazine that went missing before Christmas wasn't a one-off. Oh well. The refund wasn't a trifling amount, so that was satisfactory.

    3. The racehorse (now ex-racehorse) I first had an interest in, Angrove Rumbaba, has a new home with a new owner and a planned future career as a show horse. He had a good home previously but they just didn't have the time to bring him on. He looks very happy in his new home, from pics on FB.

    4. One freebie that did make it through was a beauty product, which I had pleasure in using today. I have to be a bit vague as it was one of these brand new formulations of something, sworn to secrecy and all that. Good stuff though and far more expensive than I would normally buy.

    5. The turmeric/pepper/oil paste painkiller continues to work its magic. Wonderful. I wish I had discovered this years ago.

    6. Awful as the weather is and my sympathies to those inconvenienced, we have managed to stay drier than we used to, all recent repairs holding well.

    7. Good karma for Dr C. when his car was repaired at almost cost price, thanks to his having given the garage owner some free guitar lessons in the past on the understanding that he would be helped if ever it was needed.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    Good evening,

    Here are my 5:

    - walk with friend in spite of drizzly weather
    - massive bargain kitchen sink purchase (using discounts and vouchers we saved 35%)!
    - my friend's support after an upsetting event
    - my family here in the UK (DH DD and DS). Inordinately grateful to have them in my life. I am truly blessed.
    - a book I am reading, Toxic Mom Toolkit, which is helping me come to terms with family issues.

Hope you are all well. Good night x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Both sons have grown (now 5 foot 0 and 5 foot 2) so took some outgrown trousers and towels to the charity shop. And there was a lovely pair of Fatface trousers, aged 13, £3!

    3) Went to the library to print out bigger son's homework and their Christmas thank you cards and put my name down for the forthcoming jewellery making course. :-)

    4) Co-op for bits and pieces and got one final box of mince pies for 31p.

    5) Found the last geocache in a new series I almost completed the other day.

    6) Walked to mum and dad's AND BACK.... just slightly too far to do both ways really.

    7) Christmas decorations away, bed changed, 2 loads of washing done, red cabbage braised, hoovering done and blog updated.

    8) Enjoyed watching Casualty.
  • Good evening all !

A little late for me , but I have been asleep since about 7.30pm :o

CCP- a good move swerving the tutorial . bet you weren't the only one in this weather .

McCulloch - glad to hear that A.R has a new avenue when so many don't.He is a cutey .

CAMNOM- viva la home spa ...:D

    5 for today

    1. Let the hens out at 7am , later than usual but still dark. Another 2 hot from bott eggs waiting for me. It still makes me smile and I feel grateful after nearly 8 years of chickens "owning me" :D

2.OH bought home a good haul from Mr. T - 2 chickens , 2 packets of puff pastry (many YUM pies) 2 heads of broccoli and some plums all for less than a tenner . Stilton and broccoli soup is on the cards and a roast tomorrow I think..

3.Made 3 lasagnes and (2 meat , 1 quorn) and HM chips from donated spuds from DM. DM was going to a party tonight but didn't in the end so stretched the rtc mince out for an extra lasagne for her.Very nice too.

4.We bought 2 expensive sofas 10 years ago from D*S when we moved in to this house. The smaller sofa is rarely used but today I sat in it and it felt rather low to the ground. Checked underneath and it was broken, Took apart with OH- it was made of the crappiest chip board ever(!) inside - used metal braces now very secure . Funny image - sofa upside down - me sitting on it like I am riding work on a (stationary) racehorse while OH whacks it with a hammer. My DDad would be so proud that I am practical and not particularly intellectual.:rotfl:

    5. OH downloaded a movie ...I promptly fell asleep :D Shame as it had Pheeeewww Jackman in it :rotfl:Tall dark and have some :o

Have a lovely weekend all x
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

    Evening everyone :hello:

    ((((Caterina))))

Very quickly popping on before I go to bed to share my 5 for today:

    1) Finished most of my planning for the forthcoming week at school. Doesn't make me feel loads better, but at least I know what I'll be teaching!

    2) Treated to lunch by DH. :D Really gorgeous and not too pricey. Won't go there all the time, but nice to know it's there. ;)

    3) Satisfied that my freezer is looking full and very little food has gone to waste. I'm feeling quite virtuous!:A

    4) Washing done (which can only mean the Mount Everest of ironing piles will be faced tomorrow).

    5) Comfort food of divine local sausages, but taken out of the freezer. Slight dent in there, but not that much. :p

Right, really must go to bed. Night all. x

    1. I have finally started my essay - and have been informed that it's only 1,500 not the 2,500 I was dreading! Thank goodness for finding out now rather than 2,000ish words in ;)

    2. Cuddles with DD :)

    3. Fun trip to the local library with DD; we're still getting used to the fact we have to drive everywhere, no village amenities here...

    4. I've organised to see a chum when I go back Sussex-wards next week :)

    5. Roast potatoes for dinner! (and other things but none as yummy as the spuds, lol)

    6. Bought some books molto cheapo online, one for me and others for presents.

Glad the rain has stopped pouring in CCP, here's hoping your pie was scrummy x
Caterina - hugs, hope the upset proves to be minor by tomorrow x

Mhagster - are you home yet? x

Popping on briefly to say I'm home! Toast is in toaster as I type!

Long journey just because it is! Watched a bit of TV/ movies/ snoozed/ listened to music. Watched the world go by, literally, out of the window. Our world has some absolutely stunning scenery and I felt very blessed to see it clearly from a height.

Sat next to my boy and loved that he fell asleep with his head on my shoulder.....I probably did the same to him at some point.....girls looked like they were catching flies!

The sun is shining and warm, my veg patch is not beyond redemption...a few good waterings and it should be as good as new.

So need to unpack, find homes for all my new stuff and try and stay awake as long as possible.
    :)
