Not pedantic - glad to hear FC has free access to the good stuff. Hoping your grandmother agrees to see someone about the blackouts, but when she's ready!
Secret Saving Squirrel - that's the OS way - well stocked larders...
Ampersand - good to hear you getting in sprouts & mince pies & Waitrose again at your behest felling prices! Can the Next In Line turn out a decent gravy?!
Kittikins - at my fastest I could catch a parked bus. Now I amble, &, as needed, shrug. Aww OAH (original) is the business! Another F&G fan?!
Mhagster - you do appreciate the range & vigour of the weather is in celebration of your visit?! Well done on getting to grips with the eat, read, sleep cycle - some visitors struggle to relax properly! A gaggle of friends sounds wonderful!
Frith - quiet days are ballast for the crazier ones.
Givememoney - how wonderful that grandson loves baby sis! And that you've documented it - in another few years, he may need help remembering!
Broomstick - I've let my Risk- playing membership lapse now I've a kindle. Unsporting but being fired upon & invaded by my children is uncomfortable. They disappear for ages with Talisman & Munchkin though... I reread the Over Sea books - I'll hunt out King of Shadows - she's a cracking good storyteller!
DD - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2h5o6RIcOk & all reveals... Fred & Ginger? Ah, the glamour! I'd argue we *are* rich - we've each other here & offline friends, & it goes without saying we're lovely! Go on, if you can walk the dog in them, put on the hat & a smile, remember your purse & go feed the brute! Blimey that opera box will be memorable for years! Well done!
Sparrer - all the best with the camera (ready for your close up?!) & with clean bedding & thank you letters in hand, you shining example!
Teacher2be - be welcome! Come on in, & enjoy the OS delights.
Tealady - card game hilarity and a win on the horses? Splendid fun! Although have a shedding roof is an awkward situation. Fingers crossed for you!
Lovefullshelves - plenty of love, like woolly hats, all round! <proffers tray of sage & shallot stuffing> Jingo had escaped you? Ah, fun ahead!
Chickenopolis - mending as fast as I can - these pills are ruthless & I've still a week to go! Semi open plan garden? Seeds keeping hens located where *you* want?!
Karren - it is so satisfying seeing their imagination turn little things into real things!
camNolliesMUMMY - you mean despite the influx of NewStuff it already has a place? <eyes heaps guiltily> Train sets are Good Things.
OS pleasures
Christmas Veg Soup (several variants)...
Wearing the hairpins again - special Festive Hairpins - (my pins, my box, but) son's ingenuity & creativity mean I have a snowman, Christmas tree, reindeer & mystery gift!
With what is left of a packet of tic tacs "turn your bum into maracas!" - the worked example has us all laughing!
Trying to shop for a Union Suit for a 5'8" weed - must have back flap. (Reading up, & eyeing him, can't help but think scarlet the right colour or he Will try to live in it!)
Digital eavesdropping in family chitter about holiday overseas - mum would love to go back to Marrakech & though I searched & pinged her four trip advisor approved glorious locations, Dad somehow wasn't keen on for it. From the leg pulling I can hear, l hope sis remembers one of his knees is metal and risking fatigue...
The pills are working. The winds and waters are on the move (hang onto fences, roofs & lighter relatives!) & where the devil are Raffles & BoP?!
Big hugs to all who need them, train set delight directly & vicariously and yes, you can mix doing thank you letters with eating After Eights. (Just hide the evidence.)0 -
Pleasures for today:
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Seeing aunty (84) and taking her to visit her brother (93).
3) Fish and chips for lunch.
4) Started the big house tidy up! Good to have the washing and washing up done.
5) Watching Star Wars number 3.
6) Lots of texts from sons.
Not pleasures for today :-(
Mum being particularly difficult. Most of the time I am well-practised at ignoring this....
However, it became very wearing today when my aunty appeared to have a heart attack in front of us. The district nurse appeared (by some coincidence, happened to be coming round anyway!) and mum decided we should go home and leave aunty (semi conscious). Dad and I said no.
When the paramedics arrived, mum decided that she needed a cup of tea and it had to be made immediately.
When the first responder then arrived with the defibrillator, mum decided that aunty was poorly because she had "rushed her breakfast" and that her opinion had to be repeated 30 times. While aunty was being driven off in the ambulance.
She has always been the same about people being ill - she just doesn't seem to believe it happens. And if dad and I ever complain about her behaviour, we end up looking grumpy and nasty.

Thank you for all your kind wishes, it was lovely to read them. Thank you also for all the posts which I love to read
1. It is done. More to follow on Tuesday and waiting for results of todays biopsy but I'm told that today was the worst part. Thank goodness! Once more, thanks to the NHS for their amazing, thoughtful and so very caring staff
2. My lovely friend who took me and brought me home, settled me in, stayed for a cuppa and wouldn't take a penny for her fuel even though she travels 20 miles to get here.
3. My media supplier phoned, I'd given them a months notice last week as they'd put the monthly fee up by almost £10, yet again. I now have a bigger, more up-to-date package for a lot less that I was paying before. Told him that having been with them for 16 years I thought it time I got some of the advantages new customers do and he agreed.
4. Now to sort out the mobile bill and house insurance - New Year, fresh start
5. Not one for making NY resolutions but have decided to get back into surveys more regularly and put the money toward my trip to NZ in '15.

Evening all.
I posted earlier on today but the ether ate it again so having another go again now. Welcome to all the new faces :hello::hello::hello:
Five pleasures for Friday:
1. Still enjoying the Xmas tree lights twinkling beside my desk.
2. Stirfry with tofu for supper and a new sort of tamari sauce which was very nice. I'm changing brands, I think.
3. More kitchen cleaning and sorting has been going on. V. happy with progress.
4. I hope I'm not speaking too soon but I think by giving in to lots of sleep I'm shaking off this sore throat bug. Glad it's happened at a time when daytime naps have been possible.
5. The river level is dropping. We've been on the low level alert through Christmas (and still are) but looking at how they've been controlling the levels up and downstream of us it's clear that everything is being well managed. Very grateful to have access to the interactive river level maps. And very, very grateful that the rain that was forecast for us today was not nearly as heavy as first suggested.
Sweet dreams
