  • Pud, steamed. Poured with with whisky, torched.

Has to be the most moist, succulent yet. You know who wears the apron. Pictures in the morrow.

    Wobbleades are readied.

Evening all and Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

    My five pleasures for today:

    1. We all slept on a bit this morning.

2, Happy time opening prezzies - most were known about but everything, including the few surprises, was spot on.

    3. Very, very good smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for brunch.

    4. Very quiet day for me, pottering, resting and using iplayer for radio and telly while DSs have been engrossed in a ginormous board game that has currently been going for about 7 hours and shows no sign of stopping.:D They keep popping down for food and drink and are very happy. :D

    5. Couple of positive phone calls today with my parents who have gone down with bad colds, possibly flu - keeping my fingers crossed on that one. I'm starting to feel rough as well and gave in to a very indulgent, long afternoon sleep. I lay on my bed thinking I'd start a new book but woke a couple of hours later. Aiming for an early night and a second attempt at the book with a hottie and a hot chocolate.

    Sweet dreams,

    B x

Evening all - finally relaxing and thinking about going to bed

I truly hope everyone has had a wonderful day

    Pleasures for today

    1. Woke up at a sensible time and kids woke a little later
    2. All pressies well received, worked especially hard at DS's as he hadn't written a list and last year was inundated with smellies. The table football was especially popular and I can see it being useful over the next few days as people descend on us. I got earrings, Bill Bryson, choccies, voucher for White Stuff x 2, lovely Balsamic vinegar and a book on quilting. Ooh and some other stuff I can't recall. MiL gave us a bottle of 1955 port, we aren't sure that it mightn't be worth a lot of money (it was given to FiL at that time but has just hung around her cellar). The 1954 vintage of the same brand sells for £2,500.00  So I have asked the question of a port dealer, and if it is valuable will offer it back to MiL to sell.
    3. Dinner was yummy and cooked by OH, so even better. Just finished pud (at 9.30!), cheese and biccies will not happen today.
4 mega game of monopoly that came down to a fight to the death between OH and me - he won, but it was very funny
    5. Nice walk with OH - found a load of mistletoe low down in a tree so picked a little and used it for the traditional purpose :kisses2:

Night all - happy boxing day to you. Boxing day is traditionally my favourite of the season. Might get up early to watch Downton, before I read the spoilers.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Kittikins - your daughter beat sons in terms of amazingly early starts!

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) Listening to small people opening their stockings at around 4.30am (I didn't know it was that early at the time!)

    2) Bigger son suddenly forgetting to be quiet and shouting "GET IN!" when he saw I had bought him some thumb lights that he'd been looking at on YouTube!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXBlZOfIzng (Only about £3 from Amazon). He got quite good with them. Also bought smaller son a set and he and bigger son formed a double act "throwing" the lights to one another.

    3) Mum, dad and brother popping in for a cup of tea at 9am.

    4) The train set! It was off Ebay (but not noticeably second hand) and smaller son played with it all day. :-) Dad and brother also impressed.

    5) Lunch. I did a turkey thigh as we didn't need a whole turkey plus carrots, parsnips, potatoes, braised red cabbage, bread sauce and gravy.

    6) Bigger son's ginormous crackers!

    7) Sons went to their father's at 3 and bigger son said goodbye then "thank you for a nice day, you put a lot of thought into it" :-D

    8) Went to my sister's after that and watched a film.

    9) Got back 9ish and have spent a very quiet evening doing very little.

Hopefully catching up on some sleep now!

Hope everyone has had a lovely day.

It's Boxing Day already! I have just slept for what seems like 72 hours and woken up and it's daylight!

Went for an hours kip at 5 pm....asked to be woken up at 6pm....but did not count on everyone else being zonked also! So I slept until midnight...watched 'call the midwife' on I player and then slept until 8.30am....so hopefully that's jet lag dealt with 6 days in!

We had a pleasant day but on the understanding that we had done gifts etc the weekend before. So a quiet day with just a couple of small gifts from friends/ family to open.
We popped down to my niece's for half an hour and saw the wee one....then went to the beach for our annual ( now in its 4 th year) beach on Christmas Day photo.....however it's a bit different to a Melbourne beach! It was blowing a small gale...but dry ...so we had a laugh taking photos then ran as fast as we could back to the car!

Mum came over for an hour or so ...more homemade shortbread eaten.

Then a lovely dinner of roast gammon ( can't get the same in Oz) ,roast potatoes , roast parsnips ( love) ,sprouts ( love very much) , carrots and cabbage and it was very nice too.

Then zzzzzzzzzzz....missed Downton but will catch up on iPad at some point before we leave. We can't get UK programmes on catch up in Oz, so have to rely on people uploading them onto YouTube.

Apparently there is a BIG country walk planned today :)

    Have a lovely day!

And bop already off the rails :D
Yes, it happened a few years ago. Still getting rebuilds on the NHS

    Funtistic Chrimbo agins!

5 Scoots Breakfast. Scraboiled Eggs with smoked salmon, hint of whisky, served on toast. As not a greedy BoP, had enuffs left over for St Steven's Day.

4 Bird, roasted, stuffed, carved, served with beans, cabbage, heaps BoP style (Swede Carrots) and peas. Pigs in Blankets as well as roasted tates and Mustard Mash. Mustard was dated BBE November 2004. Still going strong

No Sprouts were used throughout the recipe!

    3 Pick de Resistant.

    n2opb9.jpg

At six. Dusted in icing sugar prior to torching in a blaze of whisky. Then homemade whisky sauce, Corn flour, vanilla extract. Demerara Sugar. Splashed with Whisky. Ms BoP bit heady this morning.

Brandy not used due to frogs selling exocets.

    2 Game on DD

1 It is ok to go out yet?

Sat listening to CFM. The BBC radio is so bad now, it has been detuned apart from the cricket

    .

The thumb lights look amazing, watch the video and am fascinated by them. Almost tempted to let my inner child have some! :)

Boys of all ages still love train sets, the old 'uns are always best :). Reminds me of my DB's Hornby set of many years ago, he got enormous pleasure from it.

Bless him, what a lovely warm (if a little amused) feeling you must have got from that :)

Weary after yesterday and apprehensive about tomorrow so going back to bed for a short while. More later, have a good St Stephens Day with not too much feasting! :)

Frith, can you put up a link to where you can buy these little beauties? I think DD would love some, and I got confused (easily done) looking for which ones to buy...x

Roll on tomorrow; we're going away and even better, away from my monosyllabic brother who only talks/replies to topics he's interested in. It's like getting blood for a stone trying to make conversation. He obviously thinks he's far more sophisticated than the rest of us, but really he's just dull as dishwater......*and breathe*
  • Good afternoon all !

I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas !!

BoP- not a sprout in sight in this house ;)

VJsmum - yes very Jilly Cooper :rotfl:

DfV - That did make me laugh ....there is nothing like that falling off feeling that goes sky.. earth.. sky... earth ..- a quick feel...body parts broken? Just how many miles have I got to walk home on my own? These boots aint made for walking .

Frith - lovely photo and lovely floorboards.

    5 for yesterday

    1. Santa did not disappoint ;).

    2. OH cooked beef and all trimmings except sprouts for Xmas lunch.

    3. Terrier actually unwrapped her presents and refused to go back home next door with DM.

    4.It was a lovely relaxing day .

    5.The weather was lovely too.

    5 for today

    1. Took terrier for a walk in L*wes and saw the hunt congregate outside the pub. The horses were so well behaved .Anything of mine or OH's would have been bucking , kicking and farting ( He used to hunt regularly - I refused to, it was not for me (enough said).Terrier came face to face with the hounds and thankfully no fisticuffs at dawn .One hound trotted off into a hotel down a side street that had left its back door open. We did laugh .

    2. Wore my new waxed jacket that begins with B . Only ever had a real cheapo one when mucks sacks were carried on my back all day every day. Outdoor bling .

    3.Its a lovely day here.

    4. Cousin who lives two doors away sent a text to OH and asked us if we wanted some fence panels picked up in his van at BnQ. Very thoughtful of him.

    5.No open plan garden :D

Have a lovely day all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
