ampersand I won the bet, suggested the young Prince should be George after his great-great grandfather. My second choice was Louis, after Lord Mountbatten - Alexander was a pleasant surprise, my friend bet on that, so even if I don't know what an isihac is we didn't do too badly :D

Waving hullo to the tailor whose shop is on my hike from car park to office. If he's concentrating, I don't disturb him, but I think we both enjoy the "hullo!" wave.

    ]

Please tell me you said "hello tailor" :D

Oh <<humph>> nothing too exciting on the names then.

Sparrer!! ISIHAC is I'm sorry I haven't a clue - the antidote to panel games, with such well known games as "one song to the tune of another" (my all time favourite of which was the words of knees up mother brown to the tune of every step you take), and Mornington Crescent (which I still don't get even though you aren't supposed to) and the lovely Samantha keeping the scores.

    Today's pleasures

1 waking up to realise that even with the houseful of teenagers and such a humid night and in a strange bed (DDs cos that was away from the noise) that I had, in Frith's words "not a bad sleep" :D
2 had to go to the post office which is quite a way from where I work. So parked the car and walked through Birmingham. Ended up on a road that I think I have never walked along before and it was lovely, like being abroad
    3. Finally got my nasty exam paper finished and the answers too. Still touch and go whether I will get everything finished before I go on holiday
    4. Got another Glastonbury fix at the beauty salon as they hadn't heard how we got on
    5. Left over Chinese for tea

    Have a good evening all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

My sons are called George and Alexander - they are 18 and 22 respectively :T:T:T
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Here are my five :)

    1. Woke up feeling refreshed after a good night sleep :) makes a change this week!

    2. Dyed my hair and had a little pamper this morning, and had a good tidy/clean so the house is lovely to be in.

    3. Made spinach, pea & cream cheese pasta for lunch and put half in tupperware for my work lunch tomorrow so I have nothing to make tonight :D

    4. The weather has cooled off a bit with some rainy patches, I hate being overly hot so appreciated this :)

    5. Only an hour left before I can pick OH up from the train station after he has been down to London for work meetings since yest morn .. looking forward to having him home!

    Evening all.

George, eh? I've got a work colleague by that name - plenty of opportunities for taking the mick there, I feel. ;)

    1) Two foxes in my garden this morning having a debate over territory, and 'my' fox won. :D

    2) Decided I wasn't going to get any answer from the hotel I wrote a complaint to last week, so I emailed head office - that got a response! (It's only a "we'll investigate and get back to you" type response at the moment, but it's more than I got going directly to the hotel.)

    3) Getting back into the habit of taking a packed lunch to work: today was a LO goat's cheese-topped quorn fillet, which was surprisingly tasty in a bread roll with salad.

    4) Decided I was fed up with the sand covering on my car and gave it a quick wash when I got home.

    5) Made a big batch of Greek salad and somehow managed to resist scarfing the lot in one go, so there's some for lunch tomorrow and on Friday / Saturday as well. (I don't know about Friday as it's meant to be the official end of graduation lunch, but I don't know if it's going ahead as our new head of department has made it clear she doesn't approve. She seems to be setting out to make herself unpopular as quickly as possible, having told everyone today that all future events of the type are cancelled in favour of 'staff development': seriously, has anyone ever been to a staff development event where they wouldn't have been better off staying in the office and getting on with some work? :()

Have a nice evening, everyone - only two more working days to go, except for those of use who have stopped already. ;)
Back after a very long break!

Think they missed a trick with no Welsh names in the mix as well.
I can remember watching the Investiture of Charles as Prince of Wales and his name being growled in Welsh..."Siarls Phillup Arthirr George" .
My grandson's middle name is Alex, but Alex as opposed to Alexander.

Must get back to work, was slowed down by watching the para-athletics this afternoon. British and Irish successes to celebrate as well... including one remarkable 16 year old young lady, Sophie Hahn, who set a world record in the 100m sprint for her classification, having had her brother say "Our Sophie could do that" when watching last year's Paralympics.
How much other talent is out there, I wonder, unrecognised?
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Ooh wasn't saying the names were unexciting, I just wanted them to break the mould a little. Alexander George would have been better.

Still, like us all, it's their kid and they can call him what they want.

A wasted opportunity on iorwedd though :p

No offence was taken - well not here anyway.

Im just a bit upset cos on my FB everyone is saying how boring the name George is. Well I chose George 18years ago when it was an uncommon name and it suits my George down to a tee.

Now, I must say to my loyal followers, I will w unable to give live updates from the nest this weekend.
