Ampersand - I have noticed Clare Balding at mum and dads too; not sure which of them is reading it.

    I like Superdog. :-)

    1) Massive lie in.

    2) Masses of cooking. Made my first wholemeal loaf (always do white loaves, French bread or the occasional pizza base). Also made about 10 portions of soup. Then realised there was only one freezer bag left so I have frozen it in lots of saved Chinese takeaway boxes! And a tray of brownies. The soup is magnificent (just had some as I hadn't got round to eating tea). I think sweet potato is a splendid soup ingredient. I also bunged in carrots, tomato and a tired head of brocolli plus lentils.

    3) Half hearted tidy up. I'll have a proper go tomorrow before the boys come home.

    4) Cat is still doing well after her operation. She is so bored she keeps scaling the curtains so I've let her out twice for a run around.

    5) Went geocaching this afternoon to one of my favourite places.

The cache was quite a long way off the road but the views are lovely. It was -1 and snowing so I kept moving. Legs are a bit torn by gorse bushes so looking forward to a hot bath in a minute.

    6) Son5 from next door had tidied his room out so brought me a bin liner full of his old clothes that might fit smaller son.

    7) Had a lovely evening at my brother in law's. (My sister is in London for the weekend) and took my brother too. I took the brownies I had cooked and brother had made a crumble. So we played board games and ate!

    8) On the way to pick up brother I saw a tawny owl (usually see barn owls). And on the way back, in front of the car, I thought I was following a rabbit but it was a tiny muntjak deer. :-)

    9) About to have a bath then it will be 2 hwb and Casualty in bed for me.

    A lovely day all round.

    Quick 5for yesterday
    1) went to edinburger with oh. She had a meeting so i sed i'd go with her and meet up with dd1. Train was chocker so we got out at leuchars and waited for the slow which was 10 mins behind. So much more comfortable and oh only 10 mins late for meeting
    2) wandered up to waterstones to met dd1 and had slow mooch round the shop (decided slow was the order of the day)

    5) a surprise gift also waiting for me -a random act of kindness :D a jigsaw from a fellow ambrigian. After rugby started jigsaw with ds then when h went back to uni watched 1st half of match (wegot home half time when things not looking good).

    A small collection:
    1. Decluttered half a kitchen cupboard that was largely being used for kipple storage. Envelopes and cards are now where I can find them easily - I hadn't realised so many were in there, just kept buying bargains and putting them in. Ahem.

    2. All the food 'goodies' (sweet biscuits, crisps, nuts, sweets) are now in a cupboard that I can ignore. Or find easily, should there be the need.

    3. Have day and time of friend's funeral, DS can take me, which is good, he wanted to say goodbye too.

    4. Wales winning, France looking more wooden - spooned.

    5. Avon order turned up over a week late and after I had bought a replacement product for one thing in it. But I love having a catalogue browse, especially of stuff I'd never dream of using.

    6. Your pleasures. Esp. Frith's wildlife spotting - exotic deer!
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • Good afternoon all !

Frith- I hope the smell of all your lovely cooking wafted next door to Mr. "Hungry" N :rotfl:Like smells waft in a cartoon ...

Sparrer - look after them bellows please x

ampersand - its a great book, I love the way she talks about her Dad the famous Racehorse trainer in it .I did laugh re the EDL march as when not in Old Blighty my folks are often spoken to in German by random strangers as people assume we are German or Swedish by our looks.

Katholicos - I want that collie

couponchaos- welcome ! I meet a lot of NIC's in my job . Most of them hate me though;) .

    5 for yesterday

    1. Went to a farmers market and came back with a limited edition lino cut print for a £5 of what I can only presume is somewhere like the Shetland Isles or Orkney- its striking and no one else likes it, which makes me like it even more . OH got 4 pint glasses for 10p each as he dropped the last lot we gor from Mr. A as he was unloading the car.

    2. OH got a decent quote for the car ins. I will keep the quote and pay it nearer the time .

    3. Made a cottage pie for OH and I made myself a spicy lentil one - it was quite nice. His minced beef cost £2 and we got 2 pasties out of it and a cottage pie.Made some custard and white choc. buns with some white choc. lurking in the back of the fridge, shoved in the oven to cook with the other stuff.

    4. Snooze at 3pm

5.Terrier nipped in through the gate over to my back door - she thinks she lives in both houses , which she kind of does .

    5 for today

    1. The first blue egg for at least 5 months from the Skylines (tufty headed blue egg laying hens).Because its lighter outside :).

2.Went into town bought some of those bra tops like the Bel*ia ones for £12.50 for 2 in M & *.Much better value .

    3. Bought a shirt with birds on it in the above for work.

    4. Reverbed 1p- we call it Hen Money .

    5. Got 10 Easter eggs for £10 -got lots of kids to buy for in the family. They will stay at my Mums until Easter as OH has eaten the lot before !

Have a good day all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
  • Evening all, thank you for all the nice welcomes.:j
Chickenapolis- I am intrigued as to what you do for a living now, but Im sure if I met you when being NIC, we would get on just great. :)

    Here's my 5 for today:

    1. Another lovely night shift at work, feel really lucky to work in my department and care for patients with SCI, it can be tough at times but ultimately very rewarding.

    2. Good post night shift sleep again.

    3. About to go and make HM pizzas which always go down well with DS and OH.

    4. Got given a lovely bottle of wine from pt who is d/c tomorrow. He's got one for each staff member, and is a lovely chap, will be missed.

    5. Settling down to watch all my TiVo'd shows and dancing on ice after DS is in bed with OH and said bottle of wine.

Hope everyone has a great evening.
:j Good things come to those who coupon. :j

Sparrer, the mock £land Bio Oil is called Rescue Oil, and comes in a lookey-likey white and orange pack. I've just looked up the ingredients of Bio Oil and will check the Rescue Oil pack to see if they are in any way similar.

    Ampersand,
do enjoy the rest of Clare Balding's book, if you haven't already. I loaned my copy to DD, must ask if she has read it. I loved the structure of the chapters and the lovely line drawings of the horses and dogs at the start of each.
