Kittikins - I am sorry to hear this
.K . you always have a "Plan B" what's the game plan ? Don't give up , you have achieved so much !
No. 6 OH just came back with 10 blocks of butter for 29p each -red roses aint a patch on that:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Plan B is to wait and see if second choice uni can look past my application form's slant towards first choice uni's course (f/c/u had a specialist teaching course that I was desperate to do, second choice is a more general one), have any spaces left (unis are filling up fast) and hopefully want to interview me.......I'm not holding out much hope, but am being reminded that it's not over yet, I do still have uni 2 as a possibility. So please keep everything crossed for me!0

Evening all.
Things aren't going well for me at the moment: I've got a sick and sorry-for-himself mog who has to go into the vet for repair work (the vet said it could wait for a while but it might be sooner rather than later if mog doesn't start eating again soon), my foot's gone yucky again, just as I thought it was getting better, and both my job and my OU course are ridiculously boring at present so I haven't even got anything to distract myself with.
Hey ho, self-pity aside:
1) Snow today. It was brief and fairly sleet-like, but it was still snow. :snow_grin
2) The vet bill yesterday was paid for with the money I got back from the energy company: claiming that back turned out to be good timing!
3) Lots of sympathy from my colleagues over mog's plight, even from someone who doesn't really like animals.
4) Central heating, both for my own benefit and for a mog who now has a large bald patch where he had to be shaved for a blood sample.
5) An episode of Top Gear to watch later. I should hate that programme but it usually makes me laugh, and I need something to make me laugh at the moment.
6) As Kittikins said yesterday, reaching five pleasures!
Kittikins - I'm sorry you didn't get your first choice place: fingers crossed for you for one of the others.
Skint - I'm glad your interview went well - if it's right for you you'll get it.
Hugs to everyone feeling under the wather at present.Back after a very long break!0 -
Certainly will kittikins. All of the pick-up hugs, noises, vibes and zappings needed to set you onward and upward again are on their way instantest. Things have the oddest way of turning out just right, even in the face of apparent initial setbacks. Now's the time you resort to the Brownies/Church/DD/new-footing-OH Memory Bank and make a few withdrawals.
1. All ready for bed already.
2. L. came again and fence has gone up like a dream, looking so much better than one might imagine[and we wondered] for tree posts and old roll of green chainlink, which I've had so long I no longer remember where it came from, or when, come to that.
3. Having to nip into B&Q for more U staples[Pass of Ancient Crone day is Wednesday]just happened to see THE PERFECT PIECE of reinforced ply offcut for 20p...sorry, FOR TWENTY PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...to go on my B&D trolley for Spitalfields. My thrill at this is out of all proportion to its actuality. L has bolted it on already. I am so pleased:D:T:D:j:D:T:D:j:D...and very easily, it appears. Tant mieux in tricky times.
4. Trying to slow down on way to end of Louise Penny, but only a few pages left. However, such is her writing, way out of any detective genre preconceptions or common quality, I go back and reflect on many pages here and there. She is not only clever, but articulate on interleavings between levels of human observation that I find extraordinary. All carry an instant resonance of Universal Truth.
5. So, no Spits demain. I am accepting that I need to pass Dr S's MOT. Tablet in a mo and must push on with ebay demain, try to make some upping of pension happen.
Bonne nuit.

ccp - poor puss. You both seem to be having bumpy paths one after the other.
p.s. add-on - keep meaning to ask about your changed pic/avatar, ccp. Can't work it out, but it intrigues me.
vjm - The Lot was my life since 2000 but I'm not sure I can bring myself to return just atm, although people keep ringing etc. I love it deeply, ditto the Var[mine own still since 1972]. France was finally mine in the early 70's after years of longing from far side of world. Point of this, before I sail off into territory deeply uninteresting for anyone but me, is that I know it closely, deeply and know many peeps around and about. If you want to pm and ask things, please do. D!pêche du Midi and Var-Matin R!publique come to me online daily.

Fingers crossed everything turns out well in the end Kittikins I'm a firm believer in everything happening for a reason (although that's never comforting to hear at the time). Hugs.
Been a bit lazy today so five chilled out pleasures;
1. Snow falling.
2. Yummy impromptu stew for dinner.
3. Snuggled on sofa reading blogs and feeling inspired to start my own.
4. Going to pop the kettle on and have something and custard for supper.
5. Got a £2 coin for the savers pot :TComper, Blogger & OS-erCompetition prizes: £6/£20150 -
Just a few quick pleasures from me while sons are in the bath then I'll be back to have a proper read of everyone else's later on.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons off to school happily. Bigger son ate most of his lunch (he keeps saying he doesn't have enough time) Today he had chicken and sweet pepper sandwiches (HM bread), some cherries and a Babybel. And a carton of orange juice. Making a mental list of what he will actually eat.
3) Went swimming with my brother - 500 metres today.
4) Snowed like mad but did not make roads impassable. Quite nice to watch it snowing outside whilst swimming.
5) Have had a roaring fire, still burning lengths of former window frames.
6) Tasty tea of lasagne and rice pudding. Both HM. Talking of lasagnes, I was pondering whether there was any horse meat in my freezer. Had a search through and found fruit and veg, 2 lasagne bases made by me the other week, some HM soup, a piece of one of brother's pigs, sausages from the same source and a pheasant!
7) Just this second won a kitchen unit on Ebay! The man said I can purchase a matching set of drawers too. Will pick them up over the next few days then fit them in half term. I think this will mean before and after photos of my 30+ year old single, solitary base cupboard that has EVERYTHING in it, compared with unused, new cupboard. Excited!
8) Have done all my physiotherapy exercises for today (takes ages) and nothing has gone awry.
Must get sons out of the bath......0
