So much for week of bed rest...

    1. Happy pancake brekkie, having shaken ingredients ensemble in milk container last night. Lemon and demerara, golden syrup - only permitted garnish.

    2. Writing letter in 8am-ish bed, interrupted by tap on window. L had come to build things, so showered, dressed and we went off for 6 spars, only to find that supplier no.2 in middle of Fenny nowhere is closed for the week. Sorted sth dearer out on way back. Had to be done. General builder's mate for rest of day.

    3. Made more pancakes for L at lunch. He was exceeding pleased. Interrupted by Offishul young woman in response to nuisance call from Of Course I Know Who. Tiresome, but turned her with sweet ease. Apparently I'm putting up a huge light-blocking garage without Planning Permission. Is that so? She took picture of charming pergola to show Planning Officer. I insisted she come and see the waiting planting, do some in fact. She then 'fessed to feeling awkward about coming, having read about blutty woman over the road - not to be trusted. My life[and previous]is so different from anything within the orbit of anyone around here, but it is a problem only for her and spawn.

    4. Have taken pills dutifully and keenly await kick-in improvement.

    5. I've not only enjoyed the 2-part Mary Berry catch-up over 2 days, but also the FACT that I could do so. Sometimes i-player lasts only a week, not this time and this was a happy surprise. Thought I'd left it too late.

Bed and hwb, thermos, reading - Louise Penny toujours, a book of Clive James' poetry, Opal Sunset, and a super old Herbert Jenkins, The Bindles on the Rocks.
    Yawning now, so night-night all.

    Evening folks

Sorry there are some grumps around. I felt like that on Friday - went to Aquacise and got it all out of the system.
Chicken - I think you may have to bite the new TV bullet. We desperately needed one years ago and OH was resisting until in the end, I just said "I am going to buy a new TV - you can either have a say in what we get or not, but I am still getting one". Needless to say, he came with me to choose.
Sparrer - thought we'd come back through the Lot - anywhere you'd recommend?
Skint - hope you get the decision you want.
Ampersand - we have a neighbour like that, too. COmplained to planning about our 6 inch high fence that separated our two gardens at front of our adjoined houses.
    BoP - like the sig

    For today

    1. Graduation day - silly hat, Harry Potter robes, sore palms, "don't let me fall over on stage", and proud, proud, proud.
    2. one of the students, who got a 2:1, would have been off the course if I had not spent a considerable amount of time, one to one, in order to get him through a module - so I do feel a little smug.
    3. Another prize giving this afternoon - bit boring. There was a free lunch and I pride myself on not eating any of it, because
    4. I thought I'd have a trial of the 5:2 diet (i.e. 2 days on 500 calories and the other 5 on eating normally - though sensibly). it was actually easier than I thought, except for
    5. Pancakes!! :p But I did only have 2 small thin ones.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Can I have 2 more pleasures for last night?

    1) Bigger son sat sensibly and did a mountain of homework.

    2) Smaller son left us to work on it, sat quietly on the sofa, and read through his entire collection of Topsy and Tim books!

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Survived the physiotherapists and having my right hip put back in the correct place. This was not nice. However, I did notice a millipede on the floor of the ward while she was twisting my leg round so that stopped proceedings while she picked it up! I can now cross my legs again when I am sitting down which makes it easier for me to tie the shoelaces on my right shoe. But I'm worried about it popping back again so I am walking around gently like I'm on castors!

    3) Helped an elderly couple use the hospital phone while I was gliding out back to my car.

    4) Went to Sainsburys with no sons.

    5) Had an egg sandwich for lunch on HM bread.

    6) Went swimming with my mum in the afternoon and did about 550m.

    7) Bit of a chat with my neighbour (not that one!)

    8) Sons happy this evening and we had pancakes.

    9) Finally finished reading the fourth Harry Potter book. They've had them as bedtime stories it seems like forever.

    10) Looking forward to hwb and Holby City in bed before too long.
  • 1) made the b.fs valentines card (not bad for a first attempt!)
    2) being woken up by my kittie snuggling me!
    3) purchased my slow cooker :D:D:D and spent hours looking at recipes
    4) baked cupcakes
    5) ate said cupcakes nom nom nom!

Bit of a pleasure in smallish things day.
My Tramadol painkillers bit back today - they slow down the digestive system and then randomly put it on warp factor speed if I eat more than quite small amounts at each meal. Today was a 'warp factor' day. TG I work from home.

    1. Son has a couple of days off so was around to get me Imodium to help with the above.

    2. A wonderfully interesting book to review, free, from Amazon Vine. I shall so enjoy this. (Consider The Fork, by culinary writer Bee Wilson. She writes for the Torygraph, so I have never read her previously.)

    3. Mortgage statement arrived. Such a pleasure to see the amount I owe going down.
I was stuck in an interest only mortgage for years, couldn't remortgage, then managed to pay off 30% of it with overpayments in one year when I earned Decent Money for the first time.
With this, I got the payments down to a level that I knew I could afford no matter what, if I took out a repayment mortgage.

    4. Warming, tummy- soothing cups of hot Oxo.

    5. Though I missed my night out tonight, it means I have an extra £11 to spend this week. Have my eye on a couple of items from A!di's Thursday Specials.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    Greetings all.

Slow day here. Very slow. Nothing much accomplished, but i still have 5 pleasures, which are...

    1. DS has briefly looked at colege courses in the area, that begin in September. He is already at college but wants to do another 2 year course in something else, when this ends. Well, comsidering that this time last week i was on the verge of kicking his butt out the door, it is something of an improvement that he is starting to think about what happens when this course ends. Fingers crossed he hitches up his pacman socks, for the long-term.

    2. I have ordered some more craft bits and pieces. I used to do lots of crafting and really enjoyed it. So lots of embellishments on their way to me shortly. Also, some lovely new brush pens to start up my cartoony drawings again. I got a lot of fun out of creating them and want to get back into that yoo.

    3. An aunt and uncle will soon be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary and mum asked me to make a card for her to give them, so this evening i had an enjoyale hour or so, making that.

    4. When DS got back from his dad's tonight, sice none of us had had pancakes and DD doesn't eat dairy, i made DS and I some, using the new electric pan thingy. I didn't spray enough oil in it and they did stick a bit, but with a generous sprinkling of lemon and sugar, they were consumed very greedily.

    5. Done a little bit of crochet tonight. I've started on the crocheted strap for the crocheted bag. Have been working on. Will post pics when it is done, which may be a week or two from now if i carry on this slowly at it.

Well that's all for now. Ideally i would be asleep now, but can't seem to catch it. Hope you are all snoozing soundly...

P.s. number 6, DD received her results from last semester of uni work and passed everything and at 'first' level. She didn't think she would do well so is v. pleased with this news. She is always her own toughest critic and i don't see this ever changing as she has always been like this. She has health problems which can debilitate her significantly, but she keeps on getting on, and for that i am soproud of her.

    Good afternoon all !

Frith- loved the millipede story :)

Katholicos - well done to your DD ! It may inspire your DS??Dundee and your DS xx

VJsmum - Hhmm I hate to say it but I have to agree with you ..new TV may be required unless I do a BoP ;)

    1. Late one from yesterday- left side gate open as hens were in and it would be easier taking some pancakes over on a plate to Mum (next door). The tiny terrier marched into my kitchen and stayed there all evening .. the lure of pancakes being cooked was too enticing for her ..

2.Site visit ok - the previous manager had left the business in a right mess ,the new manager who is very capable has inherited this chaos.

3.OH had done the washing, hoovered and is out putting petrol in the car for me.

    4. OH making spaghetti cheese for tea.

5.Early night tonight as I feel pooped .

Have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
