    Evening all.

Frith - your new windows look great. From your descriptions I've always imagined your cottage as being a really pretty building - it certainly looks lovely and old from that picture (judging from the size and shape of the bricks - architecture's something of an interest of mine! ;)).

    Brilliant! I LOLd. :rotfl:
All join in and sing along now band.gif (DundeeDoll on main vocals BoP on drums)

    ........................ :rotfl::rotfl:

I'll do a Beyonce-style mime of the words if you like - it's probably better than having me actually singing! ;)

    1) Woke up this morning half an hour before my alarm was due to go off, then remembered that it was Saturday so there wouldn't be an alarm. :D

    2) My favouritest ever brunch - RTC smoked salmon on HM seed bread.

    3) NSD, although not a planned one - I went to W8rose but couldn't even get into the car park, or find a space anywhere within walking distance, so I gave up, came home, and will try again tomorrow.

    4) Had a ridiculously circular debate with my energy company ("I haven't had a bill" - "when was it due?" - "30th January" - "well, there's nothing showing on the system" - "I know, that's why I'm calling..." smiley-rolleyes010.gif) which ended when I mentioned the word 'complaint': they're going to call me back on Monday, when they've worked out why the system won't send me a bill - but will take money from my account every month, of course.

    5) Got out a new Yankee candle from the selection my GM bought me for Christmas - this one smells of tea and spiced biscuits. :)

Have a great Saturday evening, everyone.
Back after a very long break!

Chicken - if that had been my brother driving past, the car would have been a dark green blur!

Here are my pleasures for today so far:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Porridge for breakfast.

    3) Went geocaching this afternoon with sister's boyfriend. Smaller son obsessed with the app on b-in-law's phone and kept telling us what direction we were supposed to be going in and how many more metres. In the end we managed 4 caches and found a travel bug in one of them. You can register a bug (looks like a dog tag) on the geocaching website then people find it and take it to their next cache with them etc. We looked this one up when we got home and it had come from the Netherlands! We've got this one here and will drop it in the next cache we visit.

    4) Tasty tea. Had pasta, tuna and sauce then made a pie to use up the last of the Christmas mincemeat. Put some grated apple in to bulk it out a bit.

    5) Sons have been playing with the Lego pretty much since we got back from Geocaching. They have built a wall from one side of their bedroom door to the other. They have used pretty much every bit of Lego they possess! It was 30cm high last time they looked and I haven't been allowed upstairs since. There will be a great unveiling in a minute, I think.

    6) Going to play the piano now.

    7) Looking forward to Casualty later. Think I will wait and watch it in bed on iplayer.

Don't know if i am allowed to post photos on the thread, but here is just one to share...i'd like to introduce you to my collie-baby so you know who i am referring to when i write about her collie capers.LOL!

    1.

    2. Lemon curd cake. Lovely and refreshing, making a triumph out of a rather questionable slow cooker lemon curd i made earlier in the week.

    3. I have been making a list of my outgoings for january. I want to try harder to be less vague about my expenditures. Paperless banking is all well and good but i like to have it written down temporarily so i can make sure everything is as it should be. All of it gets shredded and composted eventually ;)

    4. Did a load of washing. Two bed sheets line dried, almost. Forgot how good it was to have the sun brightening our days.

    5. Slightly lighter evening today. Roll on the springing forward of the clocks...which will, according to this webpage, be on the 31st March.

Quick 5 after a long travelling day

    1. Got up ok even though it was quite early. had dreadful night's sleep but have been ok today
    2. Got a pile of marking done on my various trains today
    3. Coffee and croissant at "Le pain quotidien" at St Pancras - I love it there, I can pretend I'm in Paris
    4. Dad was good, enjoyed the visit
    5. Splashed out on a taxi instead of the replacement bus - but it meant I got home 2 hours early so worth it.

    nighty night.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Evening

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Up early as OH working today so made hime some breakfast and a coffee to take to work.
    2. Enjoyed the quiet of the house and did a few rows of knitting and read some of my book.
    3. Food shopping done and came in £10 under budget for the week, thanks to meal planning around the various special offers. Finding not shopping at Tesc0 and using Ald! and L!dl so much better for my pocket, not even minding that I have to travel a bit further to get there.
    4. Helping out at Rainbow and Brownine Movie Day, little ones seemed to enjoy the Muppet Movie but think the adults enjoyed it more. Also helped a neighbour out by bringing her DD home with us, she is very cute and very funny.
    5. Yummy chicken and salad wrap for lunch before movie and then Sausage and Pasta soup for dinner. Enough pasta left for someone to have for lunch tomorrow, hopefully me ;)

hugs to all who need them

sparrer - hope you are alright after that knock. I worried when reading of it and head things can be ornery. You really need to rest a day or three, at least take it very, very easy. Anything nearing or producing concussion needs to be taken very seriously.

    1. Into early morning kitchen dark, saw a distant lump outside....or did I? Yes, I did. My first ever molehill, but I don't mind because I've been known to gather lovely friable molehill dirt before.

    2. I'm only just in after a runnning about day, which happily included free w8rose cappu during rugby reading of 4th estate entrails and concluded not long since with a [STRIKE]£23.60 [/STRIKE]£1.59 spend @MrT,all massively rtc Finests.

    3. Happy jumble saling in a country village, approached by winding lanes and disjointed country which felt good to travel.

    4. While collecting prescription, saw the garden area for our late Dr T[died shockingly young four years ago during Charity bike ride]showing aconites, snowdrops, daffodils budding and blooming amid sensitive tree planting. It is a good memorial, as is the cause to which I still contribute a mite from pension wkly. Dr T had been instrumental in helping a medical student from East Africa continue/complete/advance his or her medical training here, his daughter having made him aware of the situation during her gap year. This year, we've had 5 of these exceptional compassionate people over, or returning, to address basic needs on a scale we can barely grasp.

    5. Fabulous Flops was great fun -

but today's 'It's been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon'[starts in at 31m.38s] had me in tears for no overt reason. It's neither grim nor sad, so please listen and name me for a fool.[You are not first in this] Oh, my lovely Garrison Keillor. It was just so, as I listened, while watching out back, during my pain perdu and coffee:

Elvis Costello preceded this, especially warmly received by that US audience and he was really rather special. One terrific song.

Sparrer, thanks for the '2 pages at the same time' tip, makes it much easier to interact with others. Ddoll, I kept doing that back and forth thing too but ended up confused or losing the post and having to start again:mad:
mhagster, very impressed with all that decluttering, you're an inspiration!
Frith, lovely to see your new windows, how very satisfying for you. I love geocaching too, especially finding out where travelbugs have been. Great excuse to drag/encourage young peeps out for a walk!
In fact lovely to see pics generally, including your gorgeous collie Katholikos
Skint, I love your emoticons, esp. the pony and the dancing animals, how do you find them?
VJsmum, taxi sounds well worth it!
Ampersand, Elvis C is touring in the summer, debating whether to go, £££ but I have been a big fan on and off for about 35 years (eek!)

    5 for today:
    1. Remains of last night's takeaway fed 3 of us again tonight.
    2. Oriental greens seeds have germinated already, never grown them before so fingers crossed (may be rabbit food if we don't like them).
    3. Yummy scotch eggs from farmer's market, not massively OS but made an inexpensive lunch all the same. Not like those pink things you get in SMs at all!
    4. Fresh and sunny day made a gentle run a real pleasure
    5. Like others (and this is very OS) clean sheets on and lots of washing done.
