By the way, i feel i should apologise that most of my pleasures are very boring and samey. On v. poorly days i am unable to leave my bed, other days i can but don't leave the house. Other days still i do get to leave the ouse but don't perhaps do very much that is of interest to anyone else!

All the same, i am thankful for the simple pleasures of my life, whether they be the same every day/most days, or different.

Just feel so very boring at times!

katholicos - time for a 'Don't you Dare' think anything of the sort! Just ain't so, you know.

    1. Your no.4 has given me my no.1:j and it's a good'un.

    2. Lovely Jeremy Rant Hardy on The News Quiz.

    3. About to have a pudding of everlasting ginger cake zapped under last-legs apples with rtc cream and last of yesterday's no.2 Thermos black lapsang. To all who Bleeuuughhhh! - more yum for me. And the last 2 slices of Parisian pain rustique are defrosting o/n in a pain perdu egg/milk mix for petit dejeuner demain matin.

    4. Will I catch up with Mary Berry on i-player?

    5. Already back in nightie and thinking about rugby to come, silversmithing book to browse[came today]and starter box of tools to be familiar with by Monday, today's other parcel. I have another repair to do - broke a brooch closure hier by attempting to straighten it. Feeling good about knowing that I will be able to do these things. First glance in book made me flick back to a photo of some jewellery which looked very me. It's a tutor's chapter on using cuttlefish to mould, sculpt, cut, make precious metal pieces! Yes! yes! - exciting stuff.

    6. Ooh, just heard David losing his rag with Linda and her Badger signs after Ruth had a go about Pip's trashing o/n friends down at Rickyard Cottage...and blimey, Lilian's rv'ing with Paul! I'd better keep this one open until....hold on, can go and fetch pudding without losing a word. Radios partout in this squat. Ooh, slimy Paul. Our Lil knows which side her bread's buttered on. I've felt the straining script all week re-writing Matt into Goodie-ness. Eucck! Unconvincing creepdoom all the way. Oops - Pip and Ruth, now David's back in....and backing off. Weak, weak ,weak. Oh lawks,....Lilian ...and Paul.. congress has occurred, no question. Now what's that continuity announcer going to say? One of them has been coming up with some sassy little asides this last fortnight.

It's the w/e, mhag should be thinking about her Saturday scone before too long.
sparrer - realised I'd managed to annihilate compliments to your daughter for her lovely bags. I feel I can see them in my mind's eye, unique as each one must be.

katholicos - you've definitely got nothing to apologise for. The whole point of this thread is celebrating the small pleasures, and an additional daily pleasure is reading everybody else's - it may seem dull to you, but it's still a nice thing to read about. :) (Particularly your collie - I'd love to have a dog and enjoy reading about them even if I can't actually have one.)
Back after a very long break!

  • Having a poorly day :( feeling poorly sick and achey but still got some good pleasures;

    1. Booked a mini break to London- we were booking anyway and have happened to plan it around the ideal homes show, managed to get free tickets on the day Mr MSE himself is speaking :money: I would be over the moon if I actually met him, OH thinks my fascination with him and this site is rather amusing!

    2. Lamb chops for tea, was supposed to be accompanied by roasted veg but I didn't even have the energy to chop the veg so it was oven chips and homemade brownie and ice cream for dessert :o

    3. Ordered our replacement chest freezer :j can't wait for it to arrive. (Lots of spending gone on today, not mse but done in the most mse way :rotfl:)

    4. Pyjama day with Ian the dog cuddles.

    5. Washing dried on the line, first time in what seems like AGES!

Katholicos - your pleasures are lovely (particularly the collie) and I don't think people faint away in excitement when they read mine. :-)

Ampersand - I find Paul much less slimy than Matt. I must be the only listener who wants Lilian to leave M!

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons off to school happily.

    3) Had a nice time at college. The course is very much an introduction but good to have 2 hours to concentrate on something.

    4) Smaller son got 10/10 for spelling (!)

    5) Went swimming with sons, my mum and my brother.

    6) Just made a very tasty curry. Have no money at all this week (but I do have new windows and some car tax!) so have spent £6 on food so far. Making some meals out of bits and pieces so the curry had onions, little bit of frozen sweetcorn, remains of frozen peppers (I always slice spare ones up to freeze) and some potatoes and brocollies left over. Have got into the swing of doing a loaf in the breadmaker every evening. 70p for bread flour from Sainsburys so that is working out quite cheaply.

    7) Not much to do this evening so will go to bed at a sensible time and listen to the News Quiz.

Chicken - yes it is FN's mum and dad :( Poor thing has not had it easy - she and my sis literally fled for their lives from FNs real dad who subsequently committed suicide. THey had to start again with nothing (FN was a babe and doesn't remember). Sis got on her feet and met her OH who adopted FN after they got married. They have moved from one end of the country to the other and back again, had two more children and we thought they were settled. And now this :( I am a bit in disbelief now.

Katholicos - that's why they are OS pleasures, simple things to make us smile.
Haven't heard today's archers yet, not sure where the Pip thing is going.

    1. Lovely chat with an old friend who is recovering from a hysterectomy and is extremely frustrated that she isn't allowed to do anything :rotfl:
    2. Had my hair cut and coloured, phew!
    3. Lunch with the MIL - yummy farm shop with an unusual menu
    4. [STRIKE]beef in beer[/STRIKE] no, enough of the food, already. OH set me a shopping challenge to bring him something with a yellow lid - easy peasy. Marmite, clover, fanta, a beer (that said it was "thrice" hopped - honestly who says thriced?), up the stakes next time love. Still food :p
    5. A problem that had cropped up with DS school got sorted very quickly, thanks to a terse email to the english teacher :T

Off to see the aged parent tomorrow - have a good weekend all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Evening

Katholicos - I love reading your pleasures and same as CCP do not have a dog so love reading about yours

Get well all the poorlies NOW

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Packed lunches and breakfasts for everyone again. I even turned down an invitation to go to my favourite noodle bar :A.
    2. Checking what was in the fridge before shopping and seeing that we had used all the fresh food up so no waste. Meal plan has been stuck to all week which helps :money:
    3. Ran out of deodarant this morning and was about to buy some but 2 cans arrived in the post to trial for Bzz so perfect timing and will hopefully be able to add some clubcard points to my account in the process.
    4. Used last of the SO gammon for dinner in a spicy BBQ sauce with pasta tonight and was yummy
    5. Finished the back of the baby cardigan I am making and have just started on the front. I will get there with this.

Hugs to all who need them
