    Saturday's treats :)

    1. Reverbe'd 1p

    2. Great fun at school fete, less busy than usual but hopefully we've done okay, I had a whale of a time on my stall :)

    3. My lovely, lovely friends, both child-free, who came to stay with us and both took a starring role on a stall. They are well-known to us all as this isn't the first time they've come over, and both said later that they love our school fetes :)

    4. DD was a little trooper helping everyone set up, run stalls, had fun with her chums, spent all her pennies and gave me lots of hugs

    5. New wine bar in the village had gorgeous wine, shame they weren't doing food......

    6. but lovely pub did amazing dinner for us all, courtesy of chum.

    7. Watched Strictly, X-factor then Celebrity (normally don't watch the latter) to keep everyone happy........well, I was happy with wine and chocolates!

    8. Managed not to buy half my stall, maybe a good third ;)

    9. So far feeling fine after the wine......possibly because it was good stuff?!

    10. DD loves this year's advent calendar I've set up for her :)

    3. I'm going to be batch cooking pasta, soup and chili for easy lunches/dinners in the week. I need to finish off some ice-cream so I can use the tub to store the food.;)

    4. Ordering my online shopping early using a Mr T voucher, £9 off.

    5. I need to cut up a couple of old bath towels to make handtowels, face cloths and dusters. I've been meaning to do that for ages. It's not very fun though.:D
  • 1) Met DS's new gf - except she isn't his gf, they are just 'seeing each other', whatever that means.

PQ :rotfl:this sounds familiar.... I was just posting the same thing about my DS (17yo) a few weeks ago ! God forbid if my mum asks him if hes "courting" :rotfl:

Morning - so many pleasures to comment on - thank you for them all
    AMpersand - please don't go....
PQ - your son reminded me of that 10cc song "I'm not in love"..:p

ONly one big one for yesterday really but i'll divide it into 5 if I can

WEnt to see our old friends who we don't see often enough, so
    1. lovely walk through a nature reserve, loads of water around
    2. saw a rat swimming in a stream - hate rats but it was fascinating to watch
    3. lovely cup of coffee in the nice cafe there
    4. lovely meal of sausage and mash. One of the pair is a very old friend of ours - OH has known him since they were teenagers and after much speculation and angst said friend finally "came out" to us about 10 years ago now. We were the first people he told - HUUGE responsibility. Anyway the relevance to sausage and mash is that his partner is a fantaaaaaastic cook and the meal was divine - especially the sticky toffee puds for after :D
    5. Lots of wine but no hangover :j

Bit of a let down was that they said if they ever have a civil partnership it will be very low key. I was hoping for an L K Bennett dress and a posh hat :-(

I have such a busy day and have done burger all so far. Need to clean and tidy the house, take DD for an eye test and prepare a load of work for tomorrow as have just discovered i need to cover for a colleague who has had a bereavement. Best get cracking..
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Just a quickie before going out to meet friends at lunchtime

This morning I had the sunrise at the bedroom window and the moon at the kitchen window. Simply stunning!

Skint believe me it doesn't happen often! My theory being it was only decorated a couple of months ago so it can hardly be dirty yet, can it? ;) No deckies here this year cos I can't get into the loft to get them down and it's only me here anyway, but hopefully I'll have some nice cards to cover the surfaces with, then I won't have to polish til after NY :D. There's madness in my method, or something...

VJsmum I had a similar responsibility some time ago, the couple have just very happily celebrated their 8th anniversary. I understand their feelings but isn't it sad when people are scared to come out because of their fear of reaction, when their best friends couldn't give a hoot about it and love them anyway.

RD I love the thinking behind getting an empty tub for the batch cooking. Mr M was doing a 241 ice cream recently, don't know if they still are but if you need more tubs....;)

Now I'm late! Stay warm and safe :)

frith, chicken , purple kitten and dundee doll warm hugs and thoughts for you as you get through your day!
ampersand don't you dare stop posting! Your posts are truly a joy to read and I do appreciate the time and effort it takes to write a long post and then the frustration when the computer eats it!
sparrer glad to hear you are alright now ;)

Well a few pleasures for the weekend.
1.Weather....we have had lots of this over past few days! Boiling, thunder, lightning, torrents of rain, sunshine, cool breeze(:)) , more storms. We say '4 seasons in 1 day ' in Melbourne and it truly has been past couple of days. Yesterday was the first day of summer.
Cooler today, about 20o but with a cool breeze, needed a cardi on when we were out and about.

    2. We put the Christmas tree up. This was a dilemma ....I have never put the tree up this early but as we are coming home before Christmas would I bother.?....our house is perfect for our tree and it felt right to get it up today, so out of the garage it came (DS dealt with the spider on the box before it came in the house....a big fear for me is a spider sets up home in my tree!) and the girls put it up for me. Then I decorated it. It looks lovely and I'm glad we did it.......even DD1 , who was complaining it was far too early to put it up felt Christmassy, we had some festive DVD's on (Glee, Friends and a Madagascar Christmas) and it was ever such a nice way to spend an afternoon.

3.OH and I made our final present purchases.....no more shall be bought! Managed to get a few deals.....got a major gift pricematched (25% off in other shop) and free gift with other purchase. We were buying these items anyway, so were pleased to get the extras!

4.Sunday scone! We had no electricity for 8 hours today (planned switch off) and headed out as soon as we were up!

    5. Saturday bath! Enjoyed a soak!
    6. Saturday snooze!

7.We went to our local bank branch yesterday and opened a new account with a much higher level of interest than we are currently getting. DS and DD1 opened a high interest account too. Very impressed with them!

8.A bit of gardening done in the massive garden with the massive weeds!

9.Time to read a nice library book. OH and DS went to see James Bond film last night so TV off and I read my book. They used my cinema vouchers that I get cheaply through work.

10.Nice phone calls to my sister and my friend. Looking forward to seeing them all so soon!

past my bedtime! Have a lovely day, keep warm and dry.

    Afternoon all.

Short and sweet from me today as I'm typing one-handed as I'm now really suffering the after-effects of my flu jab - OUCH my arm hurts! :(

    1) NSD and NPD, as was yesterday now I think of it.

    2) I'm not sure it's really a pleasure, but I've worked out why I'm having such problems with condensation in the bedroom - the glass in the patio doors has come away from the frame and moves when you touch it. I guess the pleasure is that I now know what's wrong and can ask my landlord to fix it.

    3) Stuck up my snowflake window stickers, which I think of as winter decorations rather than Xmas decorations, so they go up early and will stay up until the end of January.

    4) Made a start on the quiz for the work Xmas do.

    5) Watched lots of sport this afternoon when my arm got too painful to do anything else.

    6) Beef rendang from the freezer for dinner tonight - all I'll need to do is cook some extra veggies and some rice or noodles to go with it.

Have a nice evening, everyone. :)
Back after a very long break!
  • Apols. Did not nose how delling and addictive this parsih is parishonneers. Still catching up!
    1. Watched the rugby yesterday (on TV) and was great result as was the rugby on Friday even if it was cold.

First rugby match I has watched since France NZ in 1999. Anbd wqas so impressed by the team. Since doing Rugby this season, I have gone a little off football, well I has seen FOOTBALL FAIL. Good to see one of the team I doing this season's broither come on and play his part as well. Cannot say how proud he will be next week.

No pleasure yestDi. Complete disastor. Well got the maralade laced whisky, and marzipanned the cake, the one you saw erarlier this year, and all going so swimmingly good. Total Bo11ock5ed the icing. Had to through out. Then wqents to the inn, there was room and had a slash back as well. Good job for a dark corner. Lady Black not impressed. Then realised that is was 27 years to the hour that Mother Black screamed that I had not put pressure cooker on right. And that was that, burried 5 days later. Silly old Mother Goose, still gets to you.

Even got the Upton smoked sausages for Xmas, bloody gannats got into thye galley and the lot has gone in two breakfasts.

5 Well PsuedoCorreective Therapy carried out. Belting roast tatties, non aunt bassies, stuffing and buzards. Just canna thinks of Chicks everytime we does it.

4 Well, not going to the free screening. I do not want to see some Psuedo Corrective Apologist film, you cannot think of following 3, there is only one. Why are we so corrective these days. 36 years sincve Eric had a rant and he says he did not mean.

3 Tree is up. Red lights are on. Looks good. Just thinking how many splits there will be this year. Such a shame that ...

No, sit down, shuit up and take it from BoP. THose pockets. Siow them up. The emporiums do not need your monies. Just hear on radiop this morning, someone rang in. Wanted toi learn about fishing, so is going to a club before christmas, to see what it is like. Will get his hands in the pocket come January. Same as me years back with Lego. Get a small box for Xmas, or get the cash and get two after!

2 Quiz nite and it is raining. Sprint time

1 You cannot correct the past, but you can prevent the future.

Posted this in a few other threads but thought I'd post it here too. I saw this Christmas decoration a few years ago and HAD to buy it as it tickled my sense of humour. (I also bought one that says 'Lil' Angel' )

In the instructions to the Chinese factory where this was made, something got lost in translation :D :-
