Sorry to post a negative message on an otherwise bright Saturday afternoon.... Just absolutely seething and upset and need to calm down and cheer up because I'm off to a 1st birthday party in Brum in half an hour!

MrN.... who I STUPIDLY decided was worth passing the time of day with again and thought (d'oh) was perhaps sensible and trustworthy. Not sure how I came to that conclusion, but never mind.

Anyway, MrN knows my ex-husband very well (being my neighbour) and heard even more about the ex's darker side after he had left. When I was going out with MrN (for almost a year) he saw the damage the ex husband tries to do - my children coming back in tears, the lies, the very strange things he does in his personal life. MrN listened to all that, claimed that my ex husband "was the only person he had ever been scared of" and I thought he believed me. MrN was the only person who ever challenged the ex husband about his behaviour, once when he punched our dog in the head and once when he wouldn't stop swearing at me when I locked the keys in the house.

My sons are at their father's this weekend. They are going swimming this afternoon (are probably there by now). Whom should I see being waved off to swimming by MrN but his youngest son. (He's 11). He was standing outside the cottages here while my sons and his son got in the ex husband's car.

So I feel that MrN did not believe a word I said, went along it as some sort of weird game OR doesn't really care much about his youngest son! He has a CHOICE whether his son has to spend the day with my ex-husband - I don't have that luxury.

I just looked out of the window at ex husband driving all 3 boys away and I felt as though I was in a bad dream. MrN walked back to his house and looked straight in through the window at me, held my gaze then looked away.
  • Frith- Maybe MrN is easily manipulated by your ex OH? . From what I remember about MrN was that he was seeing you , not committing himself and behaving like a plonker and had his ex wife sniffing around at the same time , which suggested having his cake and eating it. Either way I feel that was about MrN thinking about only MrN at that time.

Could MrN's sons be "looking out" for your sons ? I don't know if 11 year olds do this sort of thing ? I wonder whats in it for MrN ? Sorry I am too cynical but I can imagine your utter disbelief. MrN knows the score and he may get a bit more than he bargained for .. you did warn him !

    Enjoy your party xx

  • 1) Met DS's new gf - except she isn't his gf, they are just 'seeing each other', whatever that means. Anyway, she seems lovely.
    2) Picked up the crochet hook to crochet a scarf for DD's bf (except he isn't, apparently they are 'seeing each other' as well) and have made a nice soft scarf out of scraps to keep him warm.
    3) Am wearing the lovely scarf/shawl that someone left anonymously for me at work. I think I know who it was but she has denied everything so I have accepted it graciously.
    4) Off to a party tonight and have finally grown out of 'I must have something new to wear.' It went with the hoarding tendencies which meant I was always buying things but never really appreciating what I had. Although everything came from a charity shop, it was still a waste of money. Have decluttered my wardrobe somewhat and shall be wearing vintage Laura Ashley.
    5) Used up some 'curry juice' - the left over sauce when all the interesting bits have been eaten - and made a veg and chickpea curry for DS to have while were are out. It tastes lovely and there is one home-made mince pie left for him to have afterwards.

    Have a peaceful weekend

Oh goodness. Massive hugs to all those who needs them. :grouphug:

Well, it's been an interesting couple of days...

    1) went to a wine tasting last night run by a local wine merchant. £5 to get in and I came back a teensy weensy bit tipsy! Whilst there, I met 2 people I'd been chatting to on Twitter!

    2) Spoke to Claire Lomas last night and she's hoping to come into school this week... complete with a BBC film crew, anticipating that it'll go out on Christmas Day on BBC Breakfast!!!

    3) Spent today watching my "boys" (Leicester Tigers). There was a horrendous incident where a player was knocked unconscious. Thankfully the medical team were there within seconds, and he has since tweeted that he's ok (with a bit of a headache!). Watched the England v New Zealand match in the bar afterwards too with DH. Apparently I was "quite vocal"!

    4) Not OS, but we had an All Day Breakfast with FIL before the match as it's his birthday tomorrow. It was delicious!

    5) Trying to trawl through magazines for recipe ideas. I've lost a little "ooomph" at the moment... :(

    Take care everyone.

    Evening all.

I'm feeling a weeny bit irritable this evening - I've spent the whole of a fairly nice (if cold) day inside as I was waiting for a parcel which was due to be delivered, and it hasn't turned up. Grr, Royal Mail - not impressed!

    1) LO pizza for brunch. IT's usually better the next day, I find.

    2) Caught up on a load of online surveys this morning - I think I made about £7, which isn't bad going.

    3) Did a telephone survey for the local council, with a very nice lady asking the questions.

    4) Called a company to let them know how impressed I was with one of their staff yesterday - I hope he gets a reward for it.

    5) I'm just about to light my advent candle, which can flicker away while I'm eating dinner and watching the snooker.

Frith - I'm not surprised you're feeling furious. I did wonder, though, like Chicken, if Mr N's son was trying to look after his friends by going with them - if so, I really hope it doesn't backfire on the poor lad, or on your sons, and that they have a half-decent time with your ex, if that's possible.

    Chicken - I'm glad it's stopped raining now. smiley-happy053.gif

ampersand - I can only agree with everyone else - please don't stop posting! I know it must be really frustrating (I'm having serious mouse problems at the moment (computer mouse, that is, not mus musculus (yes, I g00gled that! ;))) so I can sympathise), but we'd all miss you too much if you left! smiley-sad032.gif

BoP - welcome back. It's lovely to hear your dulcet tones again (metaphorically speaking, obviously!).

Broomstick - I'm glad you didn't end up flooded - long may you stay above water.

DD - hugs to you. smiley-hug005.gif (Sorry, I don't like the MSE 'hug' smiley - it just looks rude to me! :o)
Back after a very long break!

Thanks, CCP and Chicken. I don't think MrN's son5 is the sort of child who would think that deeply about other children. (There's nothing wrong with son5 but he's pretty happy and oblivious to most things. Sons 2-4 probably would look out for my sons to a certain extent).

I think perhaps we can just write MrN off as being a numpty. He has made and continues to make such strange choices in his life that he can add this one to his long list. I did blow a bit of a raspberry at his house as I got home just now!

    Anyway, my pleasures for today!

    1) Spent 3 hours transforming sons' room into a Santa's grotto. :j I've never really attempted anything like it before. I'd like to post a photo on here but don't know how to do it without linking to my FB page. I first got my trusty staple gun and "wallpapered" 2 of the walls with holly patterned wrapping paper. I had the voile (?) with the holographic sequins on it that I stapled to the ceiling in a billowing sort of way. I'm most pleased with the ceiling.

A bit of tinsel round the door frame and some icicle lights and big baubles hanging from the bunk bed frame and that was that done!

    2) Had a bit of a tidy generally, did 2 loads of washing and put a spare single duvet widthways across the bottom of my bed so hopefully my feet will be warm tonight.

    3) Had a bacon sandwich for my lunch.

    4) Went to a party! It was my school friend's baby's 1st birthday. School friend is an identical twin and I am friends with her twin as well (who has had 3 babies in less than 3 years!) and another friend of ours from Sixth Form college was there.

    5) Stopped in Sainsburys on the way home from Brum and thank goodness I have now made a start on the Christmas shopping. I feel better for buying just those few things. I got the chocolate coins that I put on the stairs leading into the living room and stocking fillers - little cars, pens, post it notes (they love those!) and little Star Wars torches. I will get some other bits as well.

    6) Got home not long ago so will have a hot bath and go to bed with a cup of tea and watch Casualty.

It's too cold! Sitting with a hottie and a fleece and dreading the Winter, my worst time :(

Frith I did laugh at the raspberry, that deserves a :T

    1. The 'alarm clocks' didn't wake me til 8.15am, I think even they don't want to get up when it's cold - partly because they all know they have to go out when I appear :p

    2. Polished all the wood in the sitting room, washed the skirting boards, cleaned the banisters and vacuumed through then sat back and admired my clean home. I'm easily pleased ;)

    3. 4 loads of washing done, two part-dried on the line as the sun appeared for a short time today

    4. Had a big mug of hm mulligatawny for tea, and just made another one. Lovely and warming :)

    5. Watching Old Jews telling Jokes. Hilarious!

    Sleep tight :)
  • Wow Firth I would love to see the photo is sounds fantastic.

I am still childlishly looking forward to snow.
    1. Had a take away and earned it after 5 hours lugging furniture around.
    2. Enjoying pet cuddles
    3. Loving Dara OBrian on TV, Real laugh out loud moments.
    4. Just printed off my £5 off voucher from asda.

    Evening all.

    Five for Saturday.

    1. Lots more sorting out/chucking out paperwork for recycling.

    2. DS1 got himself up to London to stay with a friend tonight so that I didn't have to get up before dawn to drive him to his competition.

    3. I gave in and have bequeathed my old (very old) computer which died several years ago to DS2 who is going to rescue my data from it then rebuild it with a mix of parts from other old computers and new extras that have been given to him. I'm really looking forward to seeing what old files he finds because it's all from so long ago. :)

    4. Treated myself to a magazine.

    5. Hemming two bath mats for the shower (I cut a big one in half) while watching an old episode of Midsomer Murders!

    Sweet dreams.
